You all know I do love a minimalistic look and today I have one of my favourites. I have looked a little deeper into the autumn collections lately. Not because I necessarily want to follow the latest trends, but I do want to know them and give them my own twist. Of course there are always trends that return every autumn. The lingerie trend and leather, for example. I’ll skip both. Leather because I don’t wear it at home because of my white furniture (leather stains), and the lingerie trend because I don’t understand why you want to be cold. Not me anyway.
A minimalistic look is always on trend
Of course you also see the well-known colours, shades of red, gray, olive green. The classic trench coat and chunky boot remain in style. What appealed to me are the large skirts with graphic prints. With a knitted sweater on top. The wide trousers, balloon model, with a fitted top and slingbacks. The frumpy suits. And the colours poisonous green and gray, and of course the minimalistic look. And as I type this, I’m already starting to feel like shopping! For warm sweaters, wide skirts and striking trousers and tweed jackets! With my luck, I will find nothing that I am thrilled about.
But you know me by now and it won’t surprise you that several packages are on their way to my house. Unfortunately, there are no wide skirts with large prints and frumpy suits, because I couldn’t find them any to my liking. But of course it is still early in the season. I did make sure that I ordered sweaters with wool, thick materials, etc. I ordered a trouser suit from H&M, in a gorgeous grey/green colour, and I’m banishing them, the company not trouser suits, from my life once and for all.
The best look for me, simple, yet elegant
For today I am wearing an outfit from my closet. Trendy, because we see this minimalistic look a lot, simple black turtleneck with leather black boots and a skirt. Totally my style, it can’t be simple enough for me. I know this skirt is really drawing and I have three layers crammed into it, and I’m wearing something shapewear. But you still see everything. Even without the layers you can see everything, so it doesn’t bother me. I think the skirt is too beautiful to worry about that.
But I love this minimalistic look although a turtleneck isn’t the best neckline for me. Just a black jumper, black boots and any skirt. Doesn’t matter what kind a skirt, with the black everything looks good. As usual, I keep the jewelry simple, but in such a way that it stands out.

Thank you very much Kathrine. I am really pleased with this outfit.
So many people think that black and brown don’t go whereas I think they create a great contrast! In fact black goes with all Autumn colors so well, lovely crisp look!

Yes, Nancy – simple but elegant! I love that and that is definitely how I would describe you. I love that you know your style and can define it so well. It has taken me some time and I have played around quite a bit trying to find what really speaks to me but finally I feel I have a better handle on my personal style!

It’s difficult isn’t it? Because there is so much to like. I guess what makes you feel the absolute best is your style!
Ohh wow, Nancy, first of all, your hair is looking gorgeous and I absolutely love how your hair goes so well with the brown skirt. And I am loving the brown and black together – it’s a great combo. Have a lovely weekend X

I really like this look: I am going to be on the lookout for brown today as I am thrifting with my friend. Only have a bodysuit and a mini leather skirt so not much to wear often! I reorganized my bins yesterday, the ones with my winter things and one thing I do not need is sweaters/jumpers: I bought a few last year and I have more than enough. I will definitely pair them with skirts this winter and fall!

This is the perfect example of how black and brown just shine together. That skirt is truly fabulous.
It’s still hot here so I don’t mind the lingerie trend, haha. But next month will be a different story,

And then it is still warmer then here Jodie, lol.
Hi, Nancy – Your minimalist look goes beyond the minimum. It is very polished, classy and elegant, yet has some edge. On top of that, you have added whimsical and experimental touches with your minimal jewelry; It’s not just any delicate jewelry. So you should be proud of your style expertise. Also, I agree with you about wearing what keeps you warm during the cold seasons. I, myself, cannot understand how women can wear evening sandals in the winter! I prefer something more sensible and comfortable as long as it looks wonderful. XO – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

Haha, yes me too Angie! Thank you very much.
Nancy, your minimalist look is always so chic! I love the black and brown together (at least I think it’s brown). I don’t follow that many trends unless they’re something I like anyway. I’m not buying things just because they’re on trend!
Thanks for the link party!

Although I can’t be called minimalistic in any way, I do appreciate the look on someone else, secretly wishing I could pull this off. This is a really polished look and I just love black and brown together, which is a highly underrated combo. Turtlenecks aren’t my best look either, but I still can’t resist wearing them 🙂 xxx

Me neither, lol. But I do joke that I am on a spy mission when I wear one!
No one wears minimalist looks and wrap dresses better than you. You have just the best figure and those looks accentuate it and let your shape become the focus of the look. This outfit is a perfect example. You look amazing. The black top and brown skirt just skim your body and move so pretty. I always get a kick out of your blooper posts but can’t imagine you had a single blooper photographing this post. Every picture is perfect.
P.S. I don’t like to be cold either. I really don’t understand the trend toward sleeveless dresses for winter.
