It’s California dreaming! Welcome to the monthly edition of Match made in Seven! We are a international group of fashion bloggers who meet once a month. One of us chooses a theme in turn, and that can be anything. A book, music, a color, a movie. And then we style an outfit based on that theme. It’s fun to collaborate with other fashion bloggers!
This month it was Darlene’s turn to choose a theme!
First thing that popped in my head was, The Mamas And The Papas. I only remember that because my parents loved them, and their records were played over and over again in our house when I was a little child. And then I also thought of this dress. But that made the dress look frumpy to me! So I was thinking, what does California dreaming mean to me. I have never been to California but to me it says, denim shorts, sneakers, white sand, blond girls, Van Halen( no idea why) sea and burgers (don’t know either why).
California dreaming Dutch style
Okay, well, white sand and sea we skip. Most of you do know that I have a lung disease and that makes me not able to go out and find perfect places for the shooting. We skip Van Halen too, they were touring and didn’t have the time to stop by. Ditch the burger, I don’t eat burgers other then the ones I occasionally make myself. And I am not a blonde either! Now nothing is left over! Haha, well we’ve got the shorts, the sneakers and a white tee.
But you’ve got the picture now of what California dreaming means to me, not? Just like jeans look fantastic with a simple white tee, so does denim shorts.

I saw the Mamas and Papas perform live, Such fun! I like the California vibe. You could also go Haight Ashbury with tie dye…or wear the currently fashionable frayed hem shorts (we used to do it ourselves). Maybe a poca shell necklace? Love you, your sass and your style!
