I finally found a nice second-hand store where you can sell and buy your clothing. Well how good is that! I have seen this concept in Lewes before. In the store where I bought this wonderful Diane von Furstenberg dress. You bring clothing to the store, they determine what will be displayed in the store and for what amount. You can pick up the clothing that they don’t want in the store again, or it goes to a good cause. The second hand clothing that comes in the store and is not sold after six to eight weeks also goes back to you or to a charity.
*This is not a sponsored post, I just love the concept of these stores and they sell fabulous second hand clothing!
Second hand clothing in Arnhem
I was surprised by the size of the store and the beautiful and spacious layout. The second-hand stores that I know are all small or packed. Appel&ei is very well-arranged and everything is displayed on color. Personally, I always find that very attractive.
These stores are franchises, which always works better for me than stores with a branch manager. Just a bit more service and you feel a little more involvement from the people who work there often. I am not saying that branch managers aren’t dedicated to their job!
Appel&ei sells ladies and men’s clothing. And bags, belts, shoes and accessories. And everything is just as invitingly presented. They have a separate section for the so-called gold apples. These are the more luxurious items and designer brands. There are plenty of fitting rooms and you can sit if you are tired from browsing through all these gorgeous items.
Didn’t I buy anything new…..oeps second hand?
I was immediately inclined to go shopping, but I didn’t want to look too greedy! Haha, as if that would stop me. No, next time I will have a nice quiet sniff and I am sure I will come home with some great items. For my Dutch readers: check out if there is also an Appel&ei shop in your neighborhood. It’s very well worth while to pay them a visit!
Would really appreciate it if you would share my outfit on Pinterest! Just hoover over the photo!

I love second hand fashion. It gives a new life to clothes and it’s good for the environment and pocketbook! I love the whole process of shopping!

Me too! Thanks!
I’ve been wanting to look into buying a second hand handbag (designer). I have sold some of my handbags to a store similar to this one, but I’d like to think about buying one now. This store has a great selection!!

second hand places have some great clothing sometimes. My daughter gets things at Plato’s Closet a lot. They specialize in Teen/trendy fashion.

What a great store! The only consignment store I know of in Brisbane is one for designer clothes and accessories, haha! I always have a hard time when I go in to drop stuff off as I never know if I’m going to walk out having bought something else, ha! It’s only for high-end stuff so I don’t frequent it too often thankfully.
Thank you for the link up!
Hope that your week is going well 🙂

Hey, my friend! I Love consignment shopping, this company looks like they’ve taken the concept to the next level. I can’t wait to see what treasures you find there. Hopefully, you can consign some of your own items, so it balances out-haha!
Author
haha, yes they already sold some items of me, but I don’t know ho much yet!
Now that looks like a second hand store I could shop at. Most are so cramped and cluttered I can’t even move in them.
Author
I know, and they often smell so…..old…
What a very nice second hand store! That’s the kind of shop I would enjoy browsing!
Author
Thanks Jennie!
They definitely have a cool boutique vibe as opposed to the typical crowded second hand shop look!

Yes and they are very picky as what you can sell. That’s good!
What a great concept and it looks so nice, like a boutique.

Exactly! Thanks Lorena!
My experience shopping at traditional second hand clothing stores have not been the best. But Appel&ei looks so high-end and the type of store I’d love to shop at.
Author
It is really different then most second hand shops! It’s more of a boutique!
Yes we do have some commercial second hand shops. I’m not sure what I think about it I have to admit as I prefer to buy and give to charity rather than a second hand retailer, although it is still recycling and that’s good.
Author
Yes it is and the quality of the clothes in this shop is very good!
Looks like a great find!
Author
Thanks Nora!
I love the concept of selling old clothes, then having a good look round, as, you can usually find something interesting. It looks a lovely place to browse. Some 2nd hand shops aren’t as nice, and I must admit it puts me off.

Normally they put me of too, but this is more a boutique!
What a lovely store! I’m so glad you found this option for second hand shopping, Nancy! New-to-me is what I call these purchases – and stores that lay things out by colour or do a special section for “golden apples” are so much more inviting than a jumble of things without any display. This reminds me very much of local chain Turnabout or my favourite Flavour Upstairs store.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks Sheila! Have a good start of the week!
What a wonderful and very neat shop, Nancy, and as a Dutch speaker its name made me smile! Personally, I like my second hand shops a bit less neat, and not colour coded, but tastes do differ, and I can understand the convenience. Hope you can soon have a good browse and show us what you found! xxx
Author
I like it that it is neat but I know that color coded is not commercialy a good idea. In three weeks I will be browsing….in the UK!
Nancy what a wonderful shop. I would like to shop second hand, realy, but it`s difficult in my size…often.

I know, because a girlfriend asked if they had bigger sizes and they hardly have!
What a great find, Nancy! That’s how a second-hand store should look! I’m a bit late to the party as my husband and I came home with a lousy flu we caught in the last days of the cruise. Added to jet lag and time change, it’s taking time to get caught up!
Take care,
xx Darlene

Oh dear, now you need time of to get by from your cruise! I hope you feel better soon!
There are stores like this in my neighborhood—they’re secondhand but more curated and higher quality than the typical thrift store. They’re also an amazing place to find a bargain!

I normally also buy online, but the best thing about this shop is that you can sell your own clothing too!
