Last week we did some things that looked like we are getting a bit to normal life again. We have to at some point don’t we? It was a bit of a weird week. I thought I would have a quiet one and in the end it wasn’t. I didn’t have a single appointment all week. So during the day I was busy with working out, blogging and cleaning. I cleaned and tidied the rest of the wardrobes. Put everything I wanted to sell on Vinted, I’ve already sold a lot again. Every time I wanted to read in the garden in the afternoon, I just sat for 5 minutes and then it started to rain.
A busy but good week
- We see finally dragonflies again in our garden,
- they always want to sit on you. Well, on me anyway
- All sorts of butterflies also.
- I made (it doesn’t look fabulous but it was delicious!) spicy cod with sayur beans, sour cucumber and rice.
Gerben went into a hotel on Wednesday because he had a breakdown while on his way home. ( well, not Gerben had a breakdown of course, but a company he had to go to) To the other side of the country, of course. The Netherlands is not that big, but it was still a 2 hour drive. Thursday night I was just sitting on the couch after dinner, well, I kind of collapsed when Paul and Celina came over. (friends) Actually, we hadn’t spoken to them for far too long and it was very nice to have a chat and catch up. Gerben received a phone call about a malfunction at 3 am, so he had to go. When I got up I was still so tired, because of the broken night.
Meeting up with family-back to normal life
- This is what I wore at the family day.
- This is what I wear when I am in the garden reading.
- This is what I wore when we went to friends.
On Saturday we had lunch with my in-laws because of my father-in-law’s birthday and their 60th wedding anniversary. We hadn’t seen many of them for a year either. The weather was very lovely so we were able to sit outside. It was a very pleasant day and we had a delicious meal. And my in-laws loved it!
In the evening we went to friends and played Catan. That was also a year and a half ago that we played boardgames with them. I had so much fun that I didn’t even mind that I didn’t win a single game! ( next time I will catch up with that!!)On Sunday we first had a nice long breakfast, then worked out and actually didn’t do much else. Just took it easy a bit. Went nowhere. In the evening we ate at home and watched Cardinal. Are you having a bit to normal life again?
- I had cod for lunch. It was really good!
- My desert, peach and strawberries.
- Denise in the winning mood!
Have a nice week everyone!
It sounds like it was a good week, except for Gerben having to travel so far and having to go in the middle of the night. Yay!

Indeed! It was a exhausting week for him.
That sounds like a lovely week! You look GREAT in shorts. My husband travels all the time for work and can work odd hours too and I’m always amazed at how much it throws of my own sleep schedule.

Indeed, even if he sleeps in a hotel, I just can’t sleep!
So glad things are slowly getting back to normal. It’s great that you are hanging out with friends and family again.

Yes indeed, how I missed that!
I am glad you had a nice week! Not sure what the fall and winter will bring here so trying to enjoy the moments. I’ve been playing some forgotten boardgames with the boys lately and hopefully we will continue when they go back to school (tomorrow!).

Apart from Gerben being called away for a breakdown – and the resulting broken night – it sounds like you had a lovely week. Meeting up with your in-laws and friends must be wonderful after all that time. A little slice of normal life indeed. Like you said, we have to make a return to some kind of normal at one point, even if it still feels weird at times.
Loving the outfit you wore for your family day. Both that funky skirt and that crisp white blouse are absolutely gorgeous. xxx
I always love to see what you wore throughout the week Nancy.
BTW, I didn’t get your email today for this post. Can you check to make sure I’m still on the list (I even checked in spam and it wasn’t there). The email is robjodiefilogomo@msn.com
thanks Nancy,
XOXO

Haha, yes indeed Kellyann!
Sounds like a fun week minus the breakdown and poor sleep! I’m so bad at Catan! That wine looks yummy!

I lost all the 3 sets! Haha, but I love it!
Happy birthday/anniversary to your inlaws! How lovely to see them again! You look fabulous in that pink mod skirt, Nancy – the big sleeves are so awesome.
Our new favourite boardgame is Space Base!

Yes it was a joyful day! Never heard of it! WE always say at the end of the evening, or actually early morning, next time we play Risk. But we always end up playing Cartan!
You always post the tastiest food photos!! I am excited for an in person year at my kids school without any virtual planned, so that is def. a little more back to normal for us!! You look amazing in those shorts! My husband used to travel with his old job almost every other week and a lot of the time he’d leave at 4 a.m.! It did disrupt my sleep and week!

Now it does, doesn’t it! The older we get! Haha, thanks Carrie!
Loving the outfits you wore, nancy. Some tasty food here too 🙂
Thanks so much for sharing at this week’s Creative Mondays.
First of all, I am loving your outfits in denim, Nancy! Those jeans are so cute on you and I really like you in denim shorts, too! I love when dragonflies come hovering around and butterflies always make me smile! I laughed about your “broken night” with Gerben’s emergency work call but only because I can relate…my last two nights have been broken by a dying battery in a smoke detector! It woke me two nights ago and I replaced the battery but the new battery must have been kind of old because it woke me again last night with its incessant dead battery chirping warning! Grrr. Cheers to unbroken nights in the future!
