Keeping an eye out on fashion trends is kind of my thing, and since fashion and beauty go hand-in-hand, I keep watch on the latest beauty forecast, as well. So today I present you 5 beauty trends in 2021. This 2020 is all about neon liners, glass skin, floating creases, and general emphasis on the eyes. Even with a gloomy health crisis upon us, beauty enthusiasts will still play around with eye makeup. Many are going all out to update their work-from-home look.
Apart from the clear and healthy skin trend enhanced with natural makeup, which is not going away any time soon, below are some of the beauty trends predicted to make a lot of buzz in 2021. Let’s dive into it!
5 Beauty Trends in 2021
1. Capsules for healthier skin

Many people are trying out capsules to improve their skin’s health and boost its luminosity. Some capsules promote glowing skin, coupled with other benefits like improving nerve functions.
If you’re considering trying out daily supplements containing anti-aging benefits, sun protection benefits, and healthier skin overall, read up on it first to make sure that it’s safe to take for you. Supplements are one way to make you feel great inside and out!
2. Natural and clean beauty is on the rise

A lot of consumers are now more informed about which ingredients to look for and what to avoid, pushing brands to become more transparent about their ingredients list, ultimately leading them to avoid using ingredients that are frowned upon.
Also, more and more skincare and beauty consumers are supporting natural and simpler products. Brands like Kiehl’s recognize this shift, which even prompted them to reformulate their Ultra Facial Cream to eliminate parabens. Which is great because I now read the ingredients list!
3. Upcycling beauty products

The year 2020 has encouraged many not just to recycle and go slow with fashion by shopping second hand, but also inspired many to up cycle (including myself).
When it comes to cosmetics, upcycling is practiced by finding a new use for products or containers once it’s finished for example, repurposing a makeup glass foundation bottle or face serum as a water propagation container for plant cuttings. What I have been doing for decades is to fill a empty bottle of my perfume with a cheap one and us it on the rest room, toilet, whatever you name it.
4. Glossy lips are a beauty trend in 2021

Yes, the ‘90s lip gloss or lip smackers are back. Some brands, including those in the skincare industry, have even incorporated beneficial ingredients into these lip glosses as consumers move away from matte lip products. There are even lip oil glosses now, with the formulation allowing the beneficial ingredients to soak into the skin and hydrate the lips better.
Whether it’s colored, nude, or tinted, glossy lips are here to stay.
5. Colorful makeup

Bold and colorful makeup has going nowhere but up in 2021. Many makeup artists are still not over playing with squiggly and fun eyeliners or high pigment eye shadows, and many enthusiasts still enjoy this trend. I think colorful makeup is the perfect look come cold months, and it’s a quick and bold way to make a statement or show people’s personality.
Ready for the New Wave of Beauty Trends in 2021?
Trends come and go, and sometimes, it goes full circle (e.g., the glossy lips). As the world moves at a fast pace, some trends take the beauty industry by storm, while others have yet to find its right time. I hope you picked up a thing or two above to add to your beauty and skincare arsenal!

Thanks!
I do realise that clean beauty is on the rise. I try to buy products without parabens but not always. I’m all for glossy lips!

I now buy without parabens, silicone and sulfates. Have a good New Years Eve Yvonne!
Nice post Nancy – I like the trend towards natural skincare, and in particular the new wave of products from the Nordic countries. Thanks for sharing at #WowOnWednesday.

Yes me too Gail. Especially now that I had that rash and read more about it. Have a great New Years Eve Gail.
I’m all for natural and clean beauty and applaud upcycling. Filling an empty perfume bottle with a cheap one to use in the toilet is a brilliant idea. I’m in the habit of keeping empty perfume bottles if they are special shapes or have special stoppers. Not too sure about glossy lips, as I hated them first time around! xxx

Yes, I talked about the rash with my beautycien and she said that more and more people get a allergy from beauty products.
Have never been a big make up user – probably because I couldn’t afford expensive cosmetics and because even if I could, I wouldn’t put them on well!! Glad to see a move to more natural skin. And I prefer a glossy lip to a matte look, so yeah for the return to that trend.

Natural skin care is better and cheaper! So that’s a great benefit!
Fun beauty trends, Nancy! I had never thought of repurposing old cosmetic bottles. What a fabulous idea! And I do love bright and colorful eye makeup that coordinates with my outfits, so I am glad to see that it is on trend as well! Thanks for linking with me.
