A while ago we had the theme gold at The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. And then I showed a beautiful top on Shelbee’s blog, which I would also like to show here on my blog. I bought this gold sleeveless top on Vinted. I am a magpie and fall for everything that is gold. But this is a sleeveless top and I am over 50! And although my arms are trained, I have very ugly upper arms. My skin has always been pretty dry and it shows. But I think it’s about time I don’t mind that..
*I wanted to say: Thank you for your kind and uplifting words about my post from last week, about my health. I was struggling about writing about it, because I am thinking, who cares………My goodness, all those heartwarming words! That means the world to me! A big big thank you!!
Wearing sleeveless tops when you are over 50
I’ve been around much longer than I would ever have thought, so I just have to embrace it…..as they say. It is a bit annoying, of course, that I exercise four times a week, but that it is not visible on my arms. A pity. And also a pity that only when we grow older we care less about something about ourselves that is not quite beautiful. Hats off to the women who were able to do this much earlier. I must say that it feels quite liberating if you care less about what others think.
Of course I always have a tube in my nose and there are quite a few moments outside my house that I don’t even think about it. Unless people stare a lot. But through those great glasses it is not noticeable straight away. I take my photos without the oxygen. Purely because otherwise it would be such a hassle to put the hose outside just for the photos. Or to take the bag with the concentrator with me. So that’s why you usually see me without an oxygen tube. (that I have in 24/7) That has nothing (or at least not much) to do with feeling insecure.
Oh yes, we were talking about the golden sleeveless top
Anyway, back to my sleeveless gold top. I love this outfit! Especially because I just think the top looks very nice much to my surprise. And the skirt with the belt and the gold-colored espadrilles, it’s just beautiful, isn’t it? Already told you here that this is my second favourite skirt. Can’t get enough of these midi/maxi flowy skirts. So joyful. Add gold accessories and I’m ready! What for, actually, no party to be seen! Well, we’ll make one ourselves.
And as of tonight we have a two week vacation and there will be no new posts! I am back with you on the 15th of September with The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. Hope to see you then!
My Fancy Friday Favourite of last week is: Daenel of Living Outside the Stacks

Thank you very much Tina!
Nancy, we all have things about ourselves that we dislike and it is hard to accept them and not worry any more. But it is something we should try to do, isn’t it? Personally, I think your arms look fabulous (and I’m no just saying that!). It shows that you work out four times a week! I’m not very fond of my upper arms either and don’t get me on my legs lol! I’m trying to just go with the flow. My best friend, who has been overweight for quite a few years now and is now battling breast cancer, assures me that we really just need to let it go and not give a fuck because who cares right? And I’m starting to feel that way…slowly but surely!
I love your gold top, by the way! I’m a bit of a magpie too. In fact, I just bought a pair of silver wide legged jeans from Zara!!! I can’t wait for the weather to cool down to wear them!!
Have a wonderful holiday, Nancy!
Big hugs

I am beginning to think like that too Suzy. You a magpie? Hahaha, I know!
Your arms and back look so toned in the pics! A real tribute to the hard work you put in, in spite of your serious illness. If I was you I’d wear a sleeveless top every day in the summer!

Haha, perhaps I should Gail!
This outfit is fabulous!

That is an amazing top, Nancy! And, I can see your hard work in your arms. But, even if you didn’t have muscles there, you’re still gorgeous!
Have a wonderful vacation!!!

Nancy, you look fabulous in this gold top and I have no idea why you are saying you have ugly arms!! I do agree that you should wear what you like and not worry about it but your arms look great just like the rest of you!

Thank you very much Kellyann! My upper arms are now distracted as I have a tatoo!
Nancy, this gold top is so fun! I love the back detail. And what a gorgeous outfit, too. It is totally you. Um…did you get the tattoo????? Show me please! We’ve been so distracted with mail issues, we haven’t gotten to the good stuff!

Your arms are great Nancy – they’re really toned and looking good. But I know what you mean as I do weights in my 1-2-1 and my arms have got some nice shape above and yet they’re still a bit flabby on the underside. So I hardly ever go sleeveless. And actually it’s not a bad thing to care about what we look like – otherwise where would we be???
I love that skirt btw and where are you off to – Rye again? Have a really lovely time. I’m off to Dungeness in about 3 weeks time – yay!!!
You have wonderfully shaped and toned arms, we all have bits we like and bits we don’t like. It’s just about getting it into perspective. My upper arms are now old and fat, but for the summer I add a bit of fake tan and bluff it out!!!
Wonderful outfit today, what could be better than gold and leopard together!!!

Nancy,
You look fantastic! Enjoy your vacation.
Nancy, it is hard to believe that I thought about it lately. I watched a fashion expert last week, and she said that women are not supposed to wear sleeveless tops after 45!!! Really? How annoying all these “experts” who know exactly what to do and how to do it. I personally think that we can do everything, especially after 45! Your arms look fabulous, you look fabulous in this outfit! And it doesn’t matter what others think. The only thing that matters is what you feel wearing the chosen pieces! You are glowing in these pictures, and it says a lot!
Enjoy your vacation!

First of all, enjoy your holiday! And second, I now wish I had some gold sandals! These are so pretty with your outfit and I love how the gold is a neutral that goes with everything. I love each piece in your outfit. I haven’t had a pair of metallic sandals in quite a few years. I definitely care a lot less about what people think but I do try to stay healthy by running and walking. I need to do more of my workouts but I am lazy about doing workouts on my own.

I love the outfit and you do have fabulously toned arms. But most of all I want to say how much I admire your positivity., despite your health issues. Nancy you are an inspiration.
Nancy, you have amazing arms! We are always far more critical of ourselves, so go easy on yourself—you look fantastic as always!

Enjoy your vacation, Nancy! Will you be going to the UK? I will be on vacation in the first week of September, not to the UK though …
Anyway, thank you for clarifying that you’re taking your photos without the oxygen. I had actually been wondering about that.
As for sleeveless tops and dresses, I do wear them even if my upper arms aren’t in the greatest condition. I care less about such things the older I get, which doesn’t mean I’m totally without body issues though! xxx
Your arms look fabulous as does that outfit! I work out all the time too and my upper arms aren’t the greatest either (plus I am usually covered in bug bites all summer long) and I just don’t care. It’s comfy and cool so I go sleeveless for much of the summer. I hope you have a fabulous time on your vacation.
Love this outfit with all of the golden touches! Your arms look great, it definitely shows that you work out. Nancy, you are an inspiration to all of us and I am glad you wrote about your illness and found our kind words helpful. I hope you have a fabulous holiday and I am looking forward to your posts in a couple of weeks when you return!
I think that you look beautiful, Nancy! I tell customers at work to wear what they feel good in and not worry about other people’s thoughts. If you feel good, that is all that matters. Anyway! I also love your outfit and hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy every moment of your vacation! XO
First I was loving the top and then you showed the back and I gasped. It’s not just fabulous, it’s SUPER fabulous.
And here’s me giving you a standing ovation for wearing sleeveless. It’s so sad that we hate parts of our body when it did nothing wrong. You talk about how they aren’t toned, yet I would disagree.
This is such a wonderful look on you Nancy, and I hope you wear it lots,

Sorry I am so late, and didn’t get to read your last week’s post until now. I am sorry you have to deal with your lung disease. I know illness is not easy, and many times have I gotten down or angry about having to deal with it. But as you said, you keep on going, doing the best you can. It sounds like you are doing well now, and I am glad to hear that. I love this look! I am a gold wearer, for jewelry and I have a pair of gold espadrilles that are my fav. Love the addition of the belt and the leopard skirt looks fantastic!

Happy Vacay, Nancy! Your arms look fantastic – no one sees what we see, and no one is as critical as we are to ourselves. I am working on letting go of those internal expectations of looking perfect – I care less about that, and more about just feeling good.
Love the top – it looks fab on you – and that back is very sexy! I also love big swooshy skirts like that – this outfit would look amazing with a black leather jacket!
You look so lovely in your sleeveless top. I love your animal print skirt.
Hope you’re okay Nancy, it’s a super outfit and yes show your arms xx jacqui x
