Time for a switch: embracing change on the blog

time for a switch

I want to do things a little differently on my blog, it’s time for a switch. First of all, it’s quite tiring for me to take outfit photos like we do now. It’s not possible during the week because Gerben has to work, of course, and I’m too tired in the evenings. Only Saturday remains. Since I work out on Saturday mornings, I’m already quite tired in the afternoon, and if we have an appointment in the evening, I need to save my energy for that.

Also, I find the photo quality very poor because I resize them. And I can’t find a good way to keep my photos sharp and have low KBs. Also, or perhaps this comes first actually, I’ve been looking back at some Throwback Tuesday posts lately, and I actually really enjoyed that.

Is it time for a switch?

outfit selfie

So what I want to do is share more everyday things with you, outfits of course too, but more selfies. But also very simple photos of what I did that day, or what I ate, and things like that. I actually find that much more fun at the moment. And of course, I hope you agree! I’ll continue posting on Fridays and will definitely host the Fancy Friday linkup party, as I still enjoy doing that. And when I do feel like it, I publish a outfit post, just like I have done for years. Just depends on how much energy I have.

So it will be a mix of things. I’m a person who likes stability and I’m not fond of change. Now, I do think change is good, but it always takes me a while to get used to it. So this change is a bit of a challenge for me too. Silly, right? I mean, we all blog because we’re passionate about it. And if a different approach makes you happier, it’s not so hard, you’d think. Anyway, that is the change that will be here on my blog.

What happened in my life last week

Last Saturday we had a gathering for people who have been on the heart or lung transplant list for less than a year. We were divided into two groups, with the partners separated. This was very important I thought, because the partners also need to be able to share their story. It was nice to talk to others in the same situation. On Sunday, we celebrated my mother-in-law’s birthday, who is 87. I wore the outfit shown above. Four generations together! So nice.

Afterward, I had three wonderfully peaceful days, I didn’t have to leave the house because the gym was closed and I had no other appointments. Of course, I did work out at home. Turned out to be very busy days, how the hell did that happen?

Yesterday we had an appointment with the notary. Our wills are over 30 years old, and some things needed to be updated. Time for a switch so to speak! In the afternoon, we had to get our flu shot, and in the evening I had a meeting. Today is my cleaning day, I think it’s going to be the least busy day of the week, lol. As you can see at the featured photo, Castor(on the right) is finally eating out of his chip feeding bowl! And gaining weight!

And now it is time to join a Fancy Friday Fashion party!

Every Friday you can put your blog, or social media account, in the spotlights and meet other bloggers. Even if you’re not a blogger you can join! But it is a fun way to let others know about your blog posts, and to support each other. It would be nice if you would comment when you join the linkup party.

My Fancy Friday Favourite of last week is: Di of Di-alog

I think the changes will be fantastic! I have done pretty much the same over the last year: fewer fashion posts, more books, more lifestyle. It’s amazing how you fit so much into your days. I’m in awe of you. BTW, I have exactly the same concerns about my photos!

I like the change! My husband and I were just talking yesterday about making an appointment to change our will now that the boys are all legal adults and so much has changed since our last update.

Well, as you know my own blog is quite a wild mix (even if I don’t like talking about myself much), so that’s actually something I really like. I’m looking forward to it!
You do what’s the most fun for you.

I think it would be nice to get to know your life outside of blogging a bit! The best part of blogging is that you are your own boss and can switch it up!

I’m quite nosey and I love reading about what people have been doing, even just the ordinary things. I like seeing a variety of photos (outfits, food, landscapes etc) so I’m looking forward to seeing your changes xxx

Nancy, you’re beautiful and I LOVE the change! I stopped doing dedicated fashion post years ago and my readership soared. People want real life, variety and just more of you sweet Nancy. While your fashion is great, it’s not what’s important in life.

I enjoyed reading about your week and I love the outfit you wore to your mother-in-law’s birthday celebration.I resize my photos now but I didn’t until a few months ago. Now my technical SEO needs some serious attention because I have slow-loading pages. I hate all the technical stuff!

Sometimes a change is all you need to re-charge yourself too. I think my blog needs one as I don’t seem to have many visitors now. Thanks for sharing and I’ll be stopping by when I can x Jacqui

Nancy, I will enjoy reading more about your day-to-day life, as well as fashion. Making a change to make your life easier and suit what you share now is a very positive change. Thanks for hosting the link up and hope you have a lovely weekend. Also, thanks for the favorite from last week!

Nancy, I completely understand wanting to shift things a bit. Blogging takes so much time and energy, and it’s important to find a rhythm that works for you. I think sharing more everyday moments alongside your outfits sounds like a lovely change; it makes your posts feel even more personal and real.

Hi, Nancy – Now is a very good time to let go of what no longer serves us and decide what is a better way for us to do things. People really like to know about the personal lives of bloggers, so I think you are going to do well. I love your outfit that you wore to your mother-in-law’s birthday party and the evening snacks at home with candles. Thanks for sharing your moments with us – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

I like reading about my friend’s lives, so this is a fun change in my opinion! As you know, I let my fashion blog go. I just wasn’t loving it any more, so now I talk about my new life in Albania. I’m glad that you and Gerben are getting support for your being on the lung transplant list. Your cats are beautiful. Are there any subjects besides fashion that are okay to post on your party?

  18. 11 October 2025 / 14:11

Your outfit is so pretty! I think any changes that can support us and make things better are good ones. 🙂 Your cats are so cute!

I really enjoyed this post and seeing more of your life. I hope that your weekend is filled with moments of joy and peace. XO

I like this new idea for the blog, Nancy! I am sure meeting others waiting for a transplant was comforting (though that’s not really the right word). Happy birthday to your mother-in-law! And, thanks for the link up!

Sounds like a great plan, Nancy! I’ve had to change up my blogging as well, with the addition of my Substack writing. I’m doing fewer pictures and more selfies as well. I love your outfit in this post, and love seeing your kitties!
