Stripes-The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book

stripes collage

Before I started blogging, about 6 years ago, I only wore solids. And occasionally some stripes. Now I love stripes, especially with a floral print! Yes you read that correctly, print on print. But I’ll bet we all have something striped in our closets don’t we?

Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge and myself started this series after we had hosted The Bad Buy Book for a year. Now we are ready for a new challenge! Every 15th of the month we show our Good Buy or Good-Bye item. And we want you to join!

What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book about?

It is a collage of outfits! You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye ( which is an item you are going to say good bye to). We will keep buying a Bad Buy from now and then, you know, it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted(needed) to buy something etc. But of course we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday, and every time you wear it you get that holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to send in. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide a theme for each month!

So let’s start with The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Stripes!

First my dear blogging friend and co-host Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge

striped sweater

I bought this sweater early in the Spring without trying it on and when I finally got around to wearing it, I realized that it is gigantic and was looking rather frumpy which was going to classify it as a bad buy. But then I tied it at the waist with a hair band and the problem was fixed. Now it’s definitely a Good Buy! I love the sage green color and the classic wite stripes. And it is also the perfect lounge around the sweater with leggings where too big is okay!
breton top and maxi blue skirt
I found the blue and white Breton top in a charity shop in July 2020 but after wearing it only the once it ended up at the back of a drawer and I promptly forgot all about it.
Looking for a top to wear with a blue cotton maxi skirt I planned to take on holiday, I suddenly remembered this one, and they turned to be a match made in heaven.I added red as an accent colour to give it even more of a nautical vibe. So, certainly a Good Buy, which I’m planning to wear more now that I’ve rediscovered it.

striped black and white dress

I am sending you a photo of my striped dress that I bought at a huge end of season sale.  What attracted me to it were the oversized sleeves that are very trendy, it’s immaculate cut and the boldness of the stripes.  This is a statement dress where more is more and is not for the faint hearted and it was a Good Buy.

srtipes in a top

Here’s my good buy for the stripes theme. I wasn’t sure how much I’d wear this crop top when I found it for a steal, but I like how it counteracts the frump…especially when I wear capri pants!!

striped black and white trousers
Decided to reply immediately with  a pic of one of my favourite pairs of trousers that I am not getting rid of any time soon. From the label Marc Cain, I have them
m several years and I wear them still.

our theme is stripes
Thanks for the reminder! Stripes is my favorite pattern, so I’m sending you one of my favorite striped items – this dress!

I found these new-with-tags at a thrift store a couple of years ago, and although I’ve only worn them four times (so far), they are definitely a Good Buy! I love the graphic black and white print, and that the stripes are lined up all the way around, and matched leg-to-leg. Such a great sign of quality.

striped wedges

One of the things I learned this year is not to spend money on sandals with heels. These striped wedges are the perfect height and super comfy. The striped tee has a fun detail on the shoulders and is one of the ones I usually reach for for print mixing.
Rena of Fine Whatever
striped sweater
This striped cardigan is a recent purchase and one I almost passed on making. Featured in a recent blog post, I’ve styled is for a casual summer day. I’m looking forward to trying it with a double denim look for Fall.

And here are my stripes.

mixed prints outfit

Stripes on stripes! Double the fun. Although the blouse was a Good-Bye. I don’t like light blue at all! And I don’t like a bow on that place. The skirt was a Good Buy though.

We hope you enjoyed all the stripes and hope that you are joining us next month!

September’s theme will be: Black&White!

And now hop over to Shelbee’s blog to see what the other fashion bloggers are wearing!

Send your photo with a few sentences if it is a Good Buy or a Good-Bye and we will put you in the spotlights! Send it please before the 10th of each month to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to batennancy@gmail.com

By joining The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, you agree to receive a monthly reminder email for next month!

So lovely to see all the stripes. I think I am a stripeaholic and a spotahlic. I have to stop myself buying every stripe or spot I see.

Thank you so much for featuring me! I was glad that not only did I wear stripes recently, but also that I remember to participate just in time 🙂
All these lovely striped outfits are a sight for sore eyes. I’m loving Shelbee’s idea of tying that oversized top at the waist. Sheila’s trousers are magnificent, but my favourite is Jodie’s crop top!
I’m hearing you on the top you wore with that fun striped skirt. It is a bit pale on you, and the bow in that particular place is making it a bit frumpy. I’d have loved seeing you combine stripes and florals 🙂 xxx

Thanks Ann, it was such a pleasure to feature you here! I did stripes a few years ago a lot but I don’t have that many floral items anymore.

So much fun seeing everybody’s stripes! I’m going to pin this post to remind me about the awesomeness of stripes. I have only one striped item, and sent it to Shelbee. Now I want to add them to my closet.

My favorite among these skirts is the zebra stripe, which is cool and makes people look young and very temperamental.
