You all know how I love a monochrome black outfit and here is one again! I can be so in love with green, and at the moment browns, but black will always be my favourite colour and a monochrome black outfit my favourite look. To a hole lot of women that is to boring for words. I can totally understand that when you love colours. Luckily we are all different right?
I can’t even imagine that pleated skirts weren’t in fashion, but it wasn’t that long ago. They became popular in the late 1940s, when there was enough fabric available again to use more fabric. But the origins of the pleated skirt go back much further. You can all Google that yourself if you want to.
Monochrome black with a new pleated skirt
But after the 40s, the pleated skirt was seen as frumpy for quite a long time. I can not remember my grandmother or mother ever wore a pleated skirt. Actually only noticed them when I was at the start of my blogging life back in 2015. I saw a blogger who only wore pleated skirts. And at first my thoughts were: mm, a bit outdated isn’t it? And soon I started to appreciate them a lot. Fortunately, we can no longer imagine the fashion world without them and there is plenty of choice in length and colour.
And speaking of colour, I found another nice black one. Of course, I already had one in black, but you get the idea: this one is completely different! And it really is. Asymmetrical with a kind of overlap. Nice and wide, so the skirt follows behind you when you walk and makes a sound, haha, I just think that is very feminine.
How to wear a total black outfit
I wear a basic knit sweater that I also have in burgundy. And gold cuffs and other gold accessories. And leather boots. Whenever I wear a monochrome outfit, I try to use many different textures. Wool, leather, suède etc. Otherwise it would feel like a colum to much. Different textures add interest. It’s a super simple look that I feel at my best in.
If I were going out I would wear a leather biker jacket on top. And I could have worn a short jacket on top indoors, but I didn’t feel like doing that right now. Then you might think, yes, but for a little more interest on the blog you should have done that. I completely agree with you. But unfortunately, how you see me on the blog is who I am. And that is often with a simple, probably not interesting outfit at all. The way I see it: the skirt already draws all the attention to her and then everyone else has to keep their mouths shut, so to speak. So that! I prefer to wear monochrome looks and black is my favourite colour. So yeah, lots of black monochrome looks here. I love it!

You look fabulous! I just wore a black monochrome outfit yesterday; I wore my black jeans with a thick cable knit sweater in black wit my black suede boots. I too like to add in lots of textures with any monochromatic look.

It feels so cool doesn’t it! While I also can imagine that a hole lot of people think it’s boring! We don’t!
Oh lovely Nancy, like you I adore black and like nothing better than wearing black. However, I am also a great fan of brown.
That’s an amazing skirt. Have a great weekend X

I love that the pictures show the movement of the skirt! The asymetrical hem is really cool too. I need to try a pleated skirt again: I had one but I felt that it made my middle look bigger so I don’t have it anymore.

Yes it can be bulky, look for those with no elastic waist! Thanks Mireille.
You always look so chic in all black – honestly in all of your outfits you do. I don’t look good in pleated skirts, I have tried over and over again but they just don’t work on me.
Have a wonderful weekend!

What a great look, pleated skirts suit you so well! I’ve tried them but unfortunately it’s not a style that suits me.

You always look so chic in Monochrome black! The skirt really is the star of the outfit with the unusual asymmetrical, hemline, wrapped style, and of course the pleats. I have a lot of different types of pleats in my closet, but I especially love pleats in a soft swishy fabric like this one. Thanks for sharing the link up and hope you have a great weekend!

Thank you very much Di. Yes, a pleated skirt has to swoosh right!
If black is your colour, who am I to object 🙂
I do love a pleated skirt – and even had a black one once – and the one you’re wearing here is absolutely fabulous! xxx

Love your all-black outfit, Nancy! I remember pleated skirts being VERY not in style in the 80s. My grandmother wore them and I thought they were the stuffiest, most fuddy-duddy things ever. I only came around in the mid-00s after starting my blog, but now I LOVE pleated skirts!
This black skirt of yours is amazing! The asymmetry and swoosh are the best. Thank you for the link-party!

Yes the same goes for me! Can’t imagine the fashion world without them.
