That’s one of the great things about blogging and being active on Instagram, involving the inspiring outfits of influencers. And to change those into your own style. I am in the blessed phase of my blogging life that I can surround myself online with all very supportive like-minded women. I’ve been blogging for seven years now and I’ve never cared about numbers and popularity. Although of course I would love to have hundreds of thousands of followers. And would be super popular and would have to cancel the collaborations because there are to many of them.
Inspired by influencers.
But do I really want that? I have occasional collaborations, only barter deals, I don’t want to monetize my blog. And I am very happy with that. Am I ?( I also am called caterpillar never enough…..) But actually I’m most happy with the fun virtual friendships I have. How great is that. And those are the women that influence and inspire me. When I saw Judi and Murag in this awesome dress on Instagram I knew I wanted that dress.
And Judi had placed a link in her stories, and the dress was also discounted! Well, I couldn’t miss that. I asked Judi how the sizing was, because I never order anything from River Island and she gave me good advice because this dress fits me perfectly! And I wear this dress completely different from the other two amazing ladies, so I’m definitely inspired by influencers but give it my own twist.
Get inspired by other women, but stay true to yourself!
Because I think it’s important that you stay true to yourself. You can wear everything the same as the one who inspired you, but you are not yourself and certainly not unique when you do so. Well I don’t think I’m unique, I mean I buy a lot from Zara, I rest my case. But put your own spin on your outfits! And that’s what the influencers who inspire me do. All women with their own style!
I am wearing a pre loved military style short jacket on this dress. But I think I will wear it a lot with a denim jacket or leather jacket too. Shoes are a bit difficult I think. Not every boots or shoe will look good under this dress. It needs to be a bit neutral I think, or it has to show some skin like sandals. Flashy shoes will be to much, all the attention needs to go to the dress.
I am wearing a glass green necklace that fits perfect to the dress but the ring and bracelet I will skip the next time. It’s to much. The oversized sunnies are green and from Asos.
Are you inspired by influencers?
I would really appreciate it if you would follow me on Instagram.

All the colours in the dress! Gorgeous. I hope you have some sun Nancy. It’s lovely here today xx

It’s a glorious day here too Laurie! Don’t you just love it! Enjoy!
Oh yes, influencers inspire me all the time, but you are right – we can be inspired but still stay true to ourselves. Great job with the dress, have a super weekend Nancy!

A difficult dress to style Nancy but you’ve brought it right up to date, just great!

Thanks Pamela, yes I think it’s not a easy one either. I think sandals and a denim jacket look the best when the weather is a bit warmer.
The dress is fabulous and look so amazing with the jacket! Thanks so much for the link up Nancy!

I am definitely inspired by influencers—I don’t depend on magazines as much as I used to, and I think real people are more interesting anyway! This is such a fun dress, and I love how you styled it with an army jacket!

Indeed, real women are far more inspiring!
That dress is an absolute stunner, Nancy, and I love how you styled it. Although I don’t think the ring and bracelet are too much! Nor would flashy shoes have been 🙂
And although I’d like to think that I’ve very much got my own style, I am often inspired by my favourite blogging pals! xxx

But you definitely have your own style! I a very minimalistic, so it’s easy to be too much for me.
I saw Morag wearing that dress, but she did pair it with flashy boots. It’s so fabulous and I was thinking of getting it too but I just bought a different maxi which you will see soon enough.

Thank you very much Debbie, although Murag looks so much better in it!
I have been plenty influenced by influencers!!! And, I’ve even influenced a couple myself! I’m only in my first year of blogging and have already “met” so many wonderful people…yourself included! I’ve been amazed at how friendly and helpful everyone has been. I thought it would be much more territorial…like…we don’t need another blogger your age! But, no one has said that to me…they may have thought it! Would I love to receive free clothes…you better believe I would. But, do I want to just do it willy nilly…nope! I like how you said we have to be true to ourselves. I’m trying to do that. I was just having that conversation with one of my subscribers today. Funny how a topic crops up everywhere!
Thanks for the link party, Nancy!

Well Marsha, I can tell you that there is a reason that I am writing in English. The Dutch blogger scene isn’t that supportive as abroad. I am also very happy to found this community, I can get so much energy out of it! It is really great and very real right! Thanks for the comment!
HI Nancy, I get inspired by ladies in blogs and IG. I just love fashion, and it is fun to see difrerent stylings. Love this bold and colorful floral, and I love how you styled it. the military jacket looks great with it.
Have a great day!

We all have our own unique style don’t we Nancy, love how you’ve worn this dress. Jacqui x

Yes we are all very different, that’s what makes it such fun and interesting!
I did a double-take when I realized that this lovely dress was not vintage! It looks fabulous on you, and I like how you’ve styled it, Nancy! I agree, I think it reads very summery, so open shoes will work better.
I’m the same about blogging – I’m coming up on 14 years, and I’ll never monetize. I only see my fellow readers/bloggers whose blogs I comment on, so I don’t get the full Insta experience, but you can get inspo anywhere!
Author
Oh yes indeed, but I get the most inspiration of women I see on blogs or on the streets!
Absolutely gorgeous dress! It looks fantastic with the military style jacket. I get lots of inspiration from other bloggers – I am easily influenced into buying more clothes!
