Today I am wearing a grey and brown outfit which to me is a very good combination. Is it time to book holidays yet? To plan barbecue dates, to buy a new bikini? Oh I’m so done with the cold, and those short dark days. And with all those layers to wear. At least I am completely done with winter clothing. And I want to shop! I hardly shop in the months of January and February and usually not in March either. But that depends on whether it is already starting to feel like spring. Add that to these boring months and you understand that it doesn’t get any better for me!
What about grey and brown?
But hey, life’s what you make it right! So let me not complain, these months will pass. But let’s talk grey! We did the colour grey as a theme for The Good Buy/Good-Buy Book in January. Of course you know that grey is not boring at all. And actually every colour goes very well with grey. I really like the combination with yellow. But I think with pink is my favorite combination in the warmer months. But the way I’m wearing it today, with some brown, is very nice for winter days.
Although I don’t think that all the brown shades work well with grey. It depends if you wear a warmer or colder grey. For me these greys are warm and the colour of the boots are warm for sure, and that matches percectly. And soon I will also show you that I have combined grey with green. A combination that I really like for furniture and home accessories.
Perfect match in the necklace, I love matchy matchy!
You have seen this skirt before and it is one of my favourites. The jumper is quite simple but has a nice leather detail at the shoulder. I actually wanted to wear a blouse underneath but found out I don’t have one! Not even a white one…… And that seems to be THE basic you NEED in your closet. I never understood what’s all the hassle over a white blouse. I mean is there anything more boring then a simple white blouse? And look who’s talking right! I have now ordered a black one……yeah okay….
But I wear a see-through top under the jumper that I let show up a bit to break the grey. I let the colour of the boots and skirt reflect in the necklace which is 16 years old. Then I apparently already liked this colour combination. Simple gold earrings and a plastic brown ring and that’s it! The boots are, I think, 6 years old. And I love how these kind a boots only get more beautiful when they age. That’s the benefit of real leather. Do you wear grey and brown together?

I don’t really wear a lot of grey and I have never worn grey and brown together, actually I had never thought to! This is a great pairing Nancy and I like how you layered with the sheer top. I have a ton of white shirts though!
Thanks for the link up!

I think that this is a lovely color combination, and you look beautiful, Nancy! Shopping in January – March is difficult. Mostly because of the weather being all over the place here. Anyway! I hope that you have a nice weekend!

Thanks Caroline, yes and the collections are often not that interesting then.
Those colors together could be considered blah and boring, but you made the outfit work with texture and interest. Brava,

Oh yes, I am right there with you on wishing it was time to plan a BBQ or trip already! I think pink (or peach) with gray tends to be one of my favorite color combinations too. I rarely think to pair it with brown but it really is a great neutral/classic look.

I have to be honest and tell you I never thought of combining grey with brown … until now!
You’ve created a very chic outfit here, Nancy. I’m swooning over the skirt and the boots in particular! xxx

Hi, Nancy – I love gray and have lots of it…too much, actually. I will now have to make sure I combine it with brown! My favorite part of your outfit is the sheer mesh layering top. I’ve been wanting one of those. It adds a really cool touch and dresses up the look a bit. Thanks for the link up – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

I have to admit, Nancy, I usually think black and grey. But, I’m definitely going to be thinking brown and grey after seeing your outfit! I think it’s perfect. I do wear cool shades, though. I may give it a try this week! I still don’t have my problem taken care of with my laptop as far as linking up. Hopefully, next week, I’ll be able to link!

Fix it Marsha! Haha, yes try is, would love to see your interpretation!
Thanks for the feature, Nancy! It took me a while to get to Friday Link ups, I kept forgetting to get on my computer all weekend. I love this grey with the brown and I really want to see what I can do with those tones in my closet. I have always loved grey, but I think I have less in my closet now, actually that’s not true. I do have several grey jumpers and a couple of grey jeans. But would love to see what I can do with them and my brown boots. Love the details on your jumpers and the see through sleeve under is really edgy!

My pleasure Mireille! Grey is such a versatile colour!
I have a dress with these same shades of grey and brown – I love it – it reminds me of little chickadee birds.
I am also not a huge fan of the Plain White Shirt – but I have one! just in case! I love the sheer top underneath, which I think is actually far more creative and interesting than a white shirt. Rock on, Nancy! You look great!
