It was my turn to choose a theme and I wanted to wear double denim! And I do have two denim pre loved items. But I show you just one today.
Welcome to The Thrifty Six. We are a group of international fashion influencers who meet once a month in our little space on the internet to share our thrifty outfits. On the third Monday of every month, we will all share an outfit based on a theme that features pre loved wardrobe pieces. Shopping and reselling pre loved clothing is so much better for the environment and you can find some of the best fashions in thrift or charity shops. The Thrifty Six are here to inspire you to shop second hand.
Double trouble denim
I never liked jeans. Did love denim jackets and skirts though. But I did not even wear jeans in my puberty! Everyone wore them and I really could not see the charme of them. But for the past few years I started to appreciate it a bit more and look at me now! Double trouble denim! These jeans are a favourite, and the blouse is pre loved! I wanted to wear heels but forgot all about it as my head was into leopard!
See my friends in double trouble denim!

I can’t say for sure where this denim waistcoat came from, but I think it belonged to my brother in the late 70s/early 80s. I rediscovered it fairly recently in an ottoman at my mum’s old house and it’s in great condition. The label is Brutus – not one I’m familiar with. Anyway, I’ve paired it with palazzo style jeans from Marks and Spencer, creating a nicely balanced outline. The blouse is also second hand (from Vinted of course!).

I thrifted both the vest and shorts separately, yet they are the same brand with the same color of thread running through them. An accidental double denim set, LOL.
I had to add pops of color with my sneakers, scarf and purse.
My entire crew showcased other ways to pair double denim along with other color variations.

Double Trouble Denim’ is the T6 theme for April and there sure is trouble with this denim!
These unusual and super-cool jeans are far too tight for me – I can just about get away with standing, but sitting is very problematic!
They’re Italian vintage, not sure of the decade but they definitely predate stretch-denim.
The style is incredibly high-waisted with popper fastenings which can pop open at any time!
So, I’m sad because I love this look but it’s completely impractical and can never be worn…
…yet I’m happy because it’s perfect for this T6 photo shoot before the jeans are sold.

I thrifted this long denim vest (dress) about 5 years ago and I don’t wear it often so it was the perfect piece to highlight for this thrifty challenge. I paired it with an old pair of denim shorts (not thrifted) and a newly thrifted blouse, scarf, and necklace. My moccasins were also a thrifty find a few years back. I am not a huge fan of double denim but I loved this combination!

Not just jeans, but double denim! You have come a long way, haha. The leopard accents look terrific in this outfit and of course are so gorgeous with your hair color!
I’m loving a bit of double denim, although my mind boggles at you choosing the theme, since I know you’re not really a fan of jeans!
Some fabulous outfits here, my favourite is Emma’s! xxx

Yes funny right! I do love denim skirts and blouses. And I really am in love with these jeans!
Such a great mix of different double denims here! I love your traditional “Canadian tuxedo”, Nancy, but Jane’s outfit has my heart!

Oh Jane always looks smashing! Thanks Sheila!
Nancy, this was such a fun challenge and everyone really delivered something special! I love your outfit and those jeans look super soft and comfortable…my kind of denim. I never wore jeans when I was younger either but I did wear denim skirts and jackets. Then I loved jeans during my early blogging years. Now I kind of don’t like them that much anymore. But that is what made this such a fun challenge. I had to push myself out of my comfort zone but then I absolutely loved the result. So thanks for the creative challenge, my friend!

My pleasure, that’s the fun thing about working with a theme!
Your double denim look is perfect! I like that you added the belt for contrast.

Thank you very much Kathrine.
I was shocked that this was YOUR prompt Nancy knowing your love (haha) of jeans.
But it was a fabulous idea and I love the leopard shoes with it for sure.

Hahha, nothing so changeable as a womens mind!
I love your outfit so much! It is so effortlessly cool. I am also happy to hear that you have changed your mind about denim!

Haha, yes I am almost a fan Caroline! Thanks!
Nancy, I am old enough to have not been able to wear jeans to school! And, then one year, we could! Of course, girl’s jeans were hard to find so we had to wear boy’s! And, we all know boy’s bodies are not the same. Luckily, the denim companies caught up quickly! What I really love about your outfit is the different colors of the denim. They’re close enough to go, but they aren’t exact so you don’t get that all the same color denim combination! Perfection!

I didn’t even know they didn’t have girl jeans at first! Thank you for your kind comment Marsha!
I absolutely loved the creative spin everyone put on the double denim theme—such a great way to promote sustainable and stylish fashion! It’s inspiring to see how pre-loved denim can be styled in so many unique ways.
