Isn’t this a surprising colour combination on me, Aubergine and red! I had seen it on Pinterest and thought I give it a try. I love it……but it’s not me. Next time I wear it with a aubergine jumper, lol, you could have guessed that.

And then it was weekend again. Saturday always starts with working out at home. And Gerben usually does things around the house. Last Saturday, he put up the outdoor Christmas lights. I always get so happy when that happens. I think they look so beautiful and cozy and welcoming. And I’m already looking forward to the holidays. This weekend we are going to think about what we will serve our guests. And take photo’s of the cats for the Christmas cards, design the cards, make a wishlist etc. etc.. I already know enough for my Christmas presents under the tree!
Styling aubergine and red
- On Saturday I made dumpling soup.
- Playing boardgames, Gerben doesn’t want to appear on my blog…
- French toast for breakfast!
- Sunday’s outfit.
- Friday’s outfit.
The skirt is relativly new and has pockets. I love the aubergine and it came with a belt in the same colour. The boots are a favourite this season, it has golden details and that’s something I always have loved. I never ever wear red, but bought this top for The Thrifty Six. Bright red doesn’t look good on me, it’s to cool. Something to wear over it in a colour that does suit me is neccessary.

In the afternoon, on Saturday, I had to take some photos for an Instagram collaboration, and in the evening we had friends over for an evening of boardgames, Cartan. I love playing board games! We always have plenty of snacks on the table because that’s just part of it. And my girlfriend and I are super fanatic. On Sunday, we had a delicious breakfast. Gerben made French toast with sugar bread, strawberries, raspberries, and banana. So incredibly delicious! You really should try it!
What else happened in my week
- Early in the morning alone at the gym.
- Grey outfit.
- Lunch with girlfriends!
- For dessert we had kletskoffie. That’s coffee with lots of whipped cream and kletskoppen , which are biscuits.
We visited a relative, after Gerben got home from the gym. We talked about my father, who passed away almost three years ago, which was nice. When we got home, Gerben picked up Chinese food, and we relaxed on the couch in front of the TV. We almost never get takeout. But every now and then, it’s just very convenient and quite tasty. But also unhealthy, which we’re not into.
And then it was Monday again. Luckily, a bit warmer than the weekend, which was very cold, and we even had snow on Sunday. Monday is laundry, working out, blogging, etc. Tuesday, working out at the physiotherapist with the group. And on Wednesday I had lunch with two girlfriends. I find that so incredibly nice, catching up, eat, relaxing! Thanks ladies. Thursday working out and Friday cleaning day. A pretty relaxed week!

Cool outfit Nancy! I love the aubergine colour and style of your skirt, I think the red works because of the jacket.
Thank you for the linkup. Have a good weekend!

Thank you very much Carmen.
It sounds like you had a lovely week. This color combination had been a favorite of my father’s for some reason. He loved wearing his aubergine trousers with a red shirt, much to my mother’s dismay. Thank you for sparking that memory and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Do so Kathrine, I think it would look great on you! Thanks!
I think the combo works well because of the jacket of the red. It looks very good on you.
I wish I had friends who still like to play boardgames!

This is a very pleasing color combination, and it looks great on you! You know I love a pop of color, especially red. Your skirt is really fantastic and looks so fun to wear-full and soft and swishy. Sounds like you had a lovely relaxing week. The European food always looks so good and like art on the plate or in the glass. Thanks for hosting the link up!

Thank you Di. What is the differnce with US food, except for the amount I guess?
What a fantastic combo! I’d never have thought to put aubergine and red together, but it actually looks brilliant.
I’m also loving the sound of Gerben’s French toast!
We had some snow here as well, but it had all but disappeared by Sunday morning.
Hasn’t it been cold though?
Author
Thanks Ann, yes really ice cold! And also very humid.

I love the combo…I remember Rena always told the story about her dad wearing this color pairing, and the kids would give him a hard time….but I think every color combination is fun and exciting.

Oh really, that’s funny! Thanks Jodie.
I wouldn’t have thought of this color combo but it is a nice one even if you don’t like it for you. I do love that skirt and belt a lot. We love playing Catan! We have had the game for years but only started playing it this summer!

My pleasure!
I haven’t put these two colors together on purpose, but I might have some prints that do. I think your jacket makes the red a little less noticeable but love it on you without, too! I had lunch with friends this week, too, but all we did was talk and laugh! We play more card games than board games. Thanks, Nancy, for the link up!

Oh I love card games too!
This is a lovely colour combination! I want to get some fun board games to play at Christmas!
