Yes I do some shopping my closet! Today I am wearing a mix of old and very old! Haha, because I wanted to!
Looking forward to Christmas time
We are slowly starting to think about Christmas time again. At least, the people who, just like me, want to know and arrange everything well in time. This sometimes to the great irritation of the people with whom I would like to spend the holidays with. Because I am usually one of the first to start the questions about what we are going to do with whom and who should arrange what. Well, I like to have my affairs in order on time. In addition, especially in the winter, I have to take my poor health into account. For example, if I were to buy my presents too late, it could be that I have no energy for it or that I get sick. And then I could be to late with my presents.
So I am already thinking about what I would like to buy for Gerben. And I always find that so difficult! They never have those happy socks in his size, the magazines about motorcycling remain unread in the drawer, etc. So I need to get some inspiration on the internet. By the way, your suggestions are welcome!
Well I have to say that I am already looking forward to Christmas. I love it when the tree stands. And when Gerben has the lit Santa Claus in his sleigh, complete with 4 reindeer on the roof, it can’t go wrong anymore!
Shopping my closet, what did I come up with!
It started with the jacket. And I thought: hey, that jacket would look nice on my pink skirt. So I search in my closet(s) and I did not find it. I was disappointed because I thought I had taken the skirt to the second-hand store too soon. So I also checked the shelves and yes there it was! I also wanted to wear my burgundy ruffled blouse but not directly under the jacket.
A color had to be added. And what looks better with pink and burgundy than grey. I didn’t have to think long about the gray high boots either. I wear gray earrings and two sparkling brooches, one of a cat, to make it not too serious, but certainly not too playful. You may think, what is she talking about. Well I don’t like humor in clothing. My sister-in-law always wears “funny socks”. Horrible!
Shopping my closet, a strange term
I find the term shopping my closet a bit weird. You always get your clothes from your closet, right? Of course it is meant that you can be more creative with your clothes. That you try to style some other outfits with the clothes you have. So not always the same sweater on a certain skirt, but also try different prints and lengths together. It is fun to do and often I come up with, for me, very successful outfits!
I hope that you agree with me on this one!
Would really appreciate it if you would share my outfit on Pinterest! Just hoover over the photo!

I’m the same for Christmas Nancy and still a big kid at heart. Have you tried Etsy or Not On The High Street for present ideas? xx

NO! But I will write that down! Thanks Laurie!
Love those berry shades with pink! I enjoy shopping my closet when my winter clothes come back to the wardrobe. And I’m like you, I like to start planning for Christmas early. My husband can never think of things he wants!

Awful is that isn’t it! For women it is so much easier!
A very nice combination the pink, grey and burgundy, It is fun playing in your closet and can bring wonderful surprises.
I am not an early Christmas person as we have many November family birthdays. Many thanks for hosting Nancy.

Yes it does. Thanks Jill!
Never thought of the term “shopping your closet” as weird, but yeah, it is! I love doing it though. Good for creativity, your wallet and the environment. Win-win-win. Love these colours by the way. Winterly warm and so super cosy. Have a great weekend Nancy! Love, Lieske

Yes I agree but let’s name it differently! I will think about it for a different term! Lol!
I love this pink skirt and how you paired it with boots and burgundy for a fall style! Perfect!

Thank you very much!
I’m a planner too Nancy! Why be all stressed out when the holidays arrive? I love the mix of colors with your look. Thanks so much for the link up!

Nancy, this is brilliant styling! I love the ruffle blouse under the sweater under the jacket! And that skirt is spectacular! I have been shopping my closet lately, too. Mostly because I have no money to shop for new things! I have been sticking with thrifting when I get the urge to shop. Anyway, this outfit is stunning. I love every element of it! Have a great weekend!

Ha ha! I kind of love that your SIL always wears funny socks! LOL I buy my husband funny socks that he wears with his fancy suits. Just like our Prime Minister. Everyone seems like like funny socks, except Nancy ; P
Burgundy and grey are a great combo.

Well……I do buy them for Gerben too. But not those childish socks you know. Just ones with peppers on it and ice cubes and that sort. Let me be the only one, still don’t like it! Haha! Thanks Suzanne!
I really like the jacket and am glad you didn’t donate your skirt too soon! That’s funny, I never thought about humorous clothing–whimsical, yes–haha!

Haha, I hate that. Funny things on clothing. Have a good weekend Kim!
Hi Nancy
I love the colors here, and the ruffled blouse under your grey sweater is so stylish ! I will be shopping my closet too for the next couple months as I need to save some $$ for Christmas. I am the same, trying to plan things early.
Have a nice weekend!

Your “shop your closet” (I also struggle with that term!) is a triumph Nancy. The colours are gorgeous together and, although we only get to see a small bit of it, the ruffled blouse is absolutely fabulous! I have to admit I’m not really a Christmas person, so I’m certainly not making plans this early on. I do hear you on the provisions you make in view of your health. Wishing you a great weekend! xxx

You don’t like Christmas? I love to have that tree in my house, I also love to see it go after two weeks. But I love to spend time with the hole family! Have a great weekend Ann!
Nancy, this color combination is fantastic! You are right about the gray as the perfect third color to the pink and burgundy. I start thinking about Christmas at this time, too. It’s such a fun time of year. I’m always sorry to hear that you have to worry about your illness. I’m sending best wishes that you feel great throughout the holidays!
Happy weekend, my friend,
xx Darlene

Oh thanks Darlene. I do worry a lot but I also enjoy a lot. And the enjoying part is more then the worring one!
Wat een toffe combinatie met grijs!
Author
Staat best goed he! Fijn weekend!
I love this color combination Nancy. I need to wear what I already have more…I am terrible about always wanting something new.
It’s hard not to think about Christmas, when it’s everywhere you look..haha.

Oh I havn’t seen any Christmas decorations around here yet. And I am the same, I also want something new all the time. It’s an addiction! Lol.
You look incredible in this color combo.

Good or bad? Lol!
I try to think about Christmas early too! Even if I have lots of presents purchased I still am running around getting small extra things at the last minute. The more I can do, the less stress I have towards the end!

Exactly! Thanks Laura!
I love it all…the colors, the layering, the textures…all of it! Happy weekend my friend! xo

I have to agree, Nancy – funny socks are horrible! Your outfit, on the other hand, is fantastic; I’ve always liked the combination of pink and grey, but adding some burgundy to the mix really takes this look up a notch! XO Monika

Oh how lovely to see you back in blogging land dear Monika! I missed you!
Love your outfit Nancy and I note that your lipstick matches – so cool. Re: Christmas. I love it and hate it in equal measure as the sheer amount of money that one has to shell out is awful. There’s too much emphasis on spend, spend, spend. Having said all that it is lovely to see one’s family. Have a great weekend Nancy – it’s raining ++++ in the south and very windy!
Author
I love about Christmas the having dinner part with family! We don’t do gifts and all, just to each other a few. Even if it is raining and windy , the South is always gorgeous!
such a beautiful outfit! The combination of colours is wonderful. You look fantastic!!!
I enjoy shopping my closet…and you are right that this expression might sound odd. We do always get clothes out of our closet. I think that we use it to stress the fact that we don’t have to shop to get a new look because the same can be accomplished with clever styling.
Burgundy and pink is an excellent colour combination! It’s fun to try old things in new ways, efinitely something I’m trying more of now I have an enforced capsule wardrobe! Xx
Author
Hahaha, yes you can wear your larger items now!
A lovely color combination and all around fantastic outfit!
Author
Thank you very much!
Love the combination of colors! I understand wanting to be ready for the holidays… And having a man who is a challenge to buy a gifts for. We each put a Wish List on the fridge and make our children do so as well. It means fewer returns, and less stress for shopping!
Author
Yes we do that too, but he always writes down the same things, every year!
Is that a hint? Or are you ignoring it? 😉
Author
What is a hint Liz?
Wow, lovely colours together, thanks for sharing on hosting Nancy. x

I love what you came up with from your closet Nancy. I’m all into pinks and blues right now, which I’ve not been into before. I think it was a slow fade with all those blush accessories etc! I wish I did have some good gift suggestions, I’m working on that one myself. If I come up with any I’ll be sure to share! 🙂

Haha, oh yes please do Chrissy!
I love these colours together Nancy! The frilly blouse looks great with the jacket. Thanks for linking up!
