Reminder for September-The Good Buy/Good -Bye Book

reminder for September

Dusters… seriously…..This is a reminder for September. I Googled them to death, and I still haven’t quite figured out what they actually are. Sure, knowing that cowboys wore them back in the day doesn’t really help me much. You’ve probably guessed it: Shelbee chose this topic. So, American friends, join in, because here in Europe, we aren’t all that familiar with this particular item. I’m going to have to dig deep into the archives to come up with something.

Just a friendly reminder for September-The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book.

Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge and myself started this series after we had hosted The Bad Buy Book for a year. Now we are ready for a new challenge! Every 15th of the month we show our Good Buy or Good-Bye item. And we want you to join!

You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye ( which is an item you are going to say good bye to). We will keep buying a Bad Buy from now and then, you know, it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted(needed) to buy something etc. But of course we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday, and every time you wear it you get that holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to send in. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide a theme for each month!

Send us a photo of your favourite, or not so favourite duster!

You can send either a Good Buy, a duster that you are thrilled about, or a duster that you are going to say Good-Bye to. Write a few lines why it is a Good Buy or a Good-Bye or send in both! If you want to be featured on both our blogs, please sent in different outfit photos. You have the time until the 10th to send us your photos!  Mail to: info@nancysfashionstyle.com or shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

We will feature you on September 15th on both our blogs and social media. We are looking forward to see your contribution!

Have a great day,

You crack me up! I guess dusters really are an American invention! I shared this definition in my post in case anyone else needs clarification so they can join us! “A duster is a long coat-like garment that is meant to be worn as a protective top outer layer. They got their name from 19th century duster coats which were long, lightweight coats worn by carriage drivers and equestrians to keep the trail dust from permeating their regular clothes. Over the generations, the duster has morphed into any garment worn on the top half of your body that has an open front with a hemline that falls below the knees. Dusters can be made of any material and in any style. They can be long sleeved, short sleeved, or sleeveless. They can have a front closure as long as it can be opened (otherwise, it would just be a dress). They go by many different names these days as well…kimonos, robes, ruanas, maxi coats…but the term duster seems to be an adequate catch-all for all long flowing topper pieces.” So it’s like.a catchall phrase for any garment that is long and can be opened down the front!

I wasn’t 100% sure the photos I set aside were actual dusters either but Shelbee’s description does help quite a bit. I plan to email my photos today!

I’m sending a photo, but you know me! I’ll forget and send another one! I don’t know that mine fits Shelbee’s definition as it’s definitely not heavy enough for a coat, but I still call it a duster!

I refer to them as long cardigans; the term “duster” simply makes me think of a cleaning tool! Haha. Anyway, I really love your beautiful red look, and I hope you’re enjoying your summer and doing well. I apologize for not keeping up with things; it’s been a busy summer for me.
