Could pink work for me in this season? Perhaps styled with burgundy? I showed you this skirt last summer. But it is actually much too thick and heavy to wear in the summer. Now, I don’t really think pink is a colour to wear right now for me, but I still wanted to take on the challenge. Especially because I bought such a lovely warm burgundy cardigan. And I think pink and burgundy look very good together. So let’s see if this skirt works in the colder months and if I definitely will wear it now.
Pink and burgundy worn together

This skirt is neoprene, a material that I am a fan of. It doesn’t wrinkle and that’s the biggest plus for me. Because I really hate wrinkles. The disadvantage of this skirt is that you definitely have to iron it. To get the folds in properly. And what do I hate most about housework? Yes, ironing. My goodness, that takes up a lot of time. So even though the skirt is neoprene I will still have to iron it and what do I hate more than ironing? Ironing folds in a skirt. You could almost say that this skirt has no chance in advance.
Actually, it’s one of those purchases that I probably made too quickly. I think I had been buying nothing for a while and then just bought what I liked. Without thinking about whether it is wearable and if it goes with anything in my closet. Oh well, it makes a difference that I have fewer and fewer purchases like this. It would be nice if I didn’t have them at all anymore. But who is perfect?
And does colour palette work for me?

I have worn this colour combination before. And I actually like it better with grey than with black, but I no longer have grey boots. Lamp bulb……I foresee a search for grey boots. And I’m also looking for awesome green boots! Oh oh oh. Stop it Nancy!
But I actually think the skirt is a bit too bubblegum pink to match the burgundy. I’m not entirely happy with this colour combination. I think this skirt is more for spring, with white sneakers and a white t-shirt. The cardigan is fabulous. I’ve always loved clothes with gold buttons. And I really like the style of this cardigan. Just like the other cardigans I bought this season, I prefer to wear them as a kind of jumper, with the buttons closed.
To bring the black of the boots back into the outfit, I wear a statement black ring and gold and black earrings. And to bring back the gold, I wear a chain belt on the skirt. Do I think pink and burgundy are a nice colour combination? Yes, but only with the right shade pink.

You always make me laugh when I read about your reasoning why something works or doesn’t work for you! Like you thankfully, I make less bad purchases nowadays and lately since I haven’t been shopping retail but only thrifting my mistakes are at least not costly at all. I hate ironing too! I do think the pink would look so beautiful with white sneakers and a white tee. I am also sharing a pink combo today but with red.

Thank you.
I too hate ironing so probably wouldn’t buy the skirt! I do love the colour pink and the skirt is lovely on you. You do look fab in that outfit. But I never really went for the burgundy colour – as it’s not my colour at all.
Have a lovely weekend Nancy.

Thanks Andrea!
Isn’t it annoying when something doesn’t actually work for the season of the year it’s meant for?? This is a very pretty skirt but I do agree that it would look best with something like the white you mentioned. I also would not love having to iron it! But the style of the skirt with the cardigan is fabulous, even if you’re not thrilled with the specific color of pink.

Thank you very much Sally, that is very kind of you!
Nancy, love this color combination, the outfit looks great on you! You did a clever job of incorporating the pink skirt into a seasonal look. I have a bright sky blue neoprene skirt that vexes me in the same way. It is too warm to wear in the summer season it was made for, and seems out of place color wise, during the winter months. Coincidentally, I am wearing burgundy and pink this week also. Thanks for hosting the link up and I hope you have a great weekend!

I LOVE this skirt, Nancy, and I love it with burgundy – including this burgundy cardigan! It looks great on you! I like the big puff of the skirt, and I would just skip ironing the pleats in and just let it be a soft fold.
thanks for the link party! I will try to remember to send you some plaid/tartan pics tonight – I’m wearing a sequined plaid dress today!

Thank you very much Sheila, maybe I should let the folds just be.
What a lovely outfit!

Thank you Joanne!
You know me…as a color lover, I think this combination is fabulous. There’s no shade of pink that wouldn’t look good with that burgundy sweater.
As for the pleats, I tend to let them be more casual. I’ve been steaming my clothes instead of ironing them, and it’s worked great.

Thank you Laura!
Hi, Nancy – I really enjoyed this post. I love your sense of humor. I hate ironing, too, so I bought a professional steamer a long time ago. It’s much quicker. I was introduced to it when I assisted the costume designer on my son’s movie, Loserville, in New York. When I got home, I acquired one for myself and never looked back. I thought about buying one. WE used to have one in the boutique I worked. So handy, especially for pleated skirts!
I am one of those weird people who like to iron. It’s the only thing I can do that instantly gets a finished product. Too bad I can’t iron my face! I think pink and burgundy work well together, but I do think this shade of pink does look more summery…but what do I know! I think you should continue to experiment! And find those green boots! Thanks so much for the feature…I was shocked to see my face! Thanks for this week’s link up, too!

Don’t be so hard on yourself Marsha! You have many talents! I agree that it is more a summer skirt.
That bubblegum pink skirt is gorgeous but I am definitely hearing you on the ironing … I’m not a fan either 🙂
I think it would look amazing with green boots … xxx

I absolutely love this colour combination! The whole outfit looks fabulous on you! I’m with you on ironing though, I detest it…and I currently have a massive pile to get through. Thanks for linking!
