Bettye chose this month’s theme: Midsummer’s Eve!
Welcome to the monthly edition of Match made in Seven! We are a international group of fashion bloggers who meet once a month. One of us chooses a theme in turn, and that can be anything. A book, music, a color, a movie. And then we style an outfit based on that theme. We are all very different women and it is great to see and read how we all interpret a theme into our outfits. At the bottom of the post are all the links to my dear fashion blogger friends!
Midsummers Eve, what does that actually mean to me.
I initially think of Midsummer Murders. Haha, a terribly old-fashioned detective series but I am seriously a fan. I am a fan of all English detective series! You might not even know that about me. Could also have been on the list. But Midsummer’s Eve is the theme of this month chosen by Bettye and actually I immediately had in mind what I wanted to do with it.
For me a Midsummer’s Eve is an evening, with friends or with your partner, where we first light the barbeque. It’s about 25 degrees, the sun is still shining brightly in the blue sky. The rosé wine is ice cold and the food is delicious. After the barbeque, and when the mess is cleared up, I can’t stand a mess, we are snuggling down on the lounge set. With coffee, chocolates and Tia Maria.
And while it is getting darker and darker, but it is still nice and warm, we enjoy being outside while sipping at a G&T. Is that a perfect Midsummer’s Eve or what! I must say that we have not had such an evening. It was nice and warm in the Netherlands last week, but during the week not in the weekend. We have not eaten outside so often this season, had a bad spring. Let’s hope for a great summer, but unfortunately the days are getting shorter already.
Back the my outfit. Because what do we wear on a Midsummer’s Eve.
Exactly, a maxi dress. That’s the perfect dress for a Midsummer’s Eve. And I didn’t have one! Although I have 4 wardrobes with clothes, I still didn’t have a maxi dress!
Not that you need to feel sorry for me haha. But I had promised myself that I would buy a pre-loved maxi dress. And that has become this one. A bit too short than I wanted and the barbeque will be getting in my way, but what a beautiful print and colors! Perhaps I could skip the chocolates!……No way!
Check out what my dear blogger friends are wearing for a Midsummer’s Eve!

That’s such a gorgeous dress Nancy. I kinda like the maxis a little shorter like this because they seem easier to walk around in.

What a great way to style this theme, Nancy! The print and color are beautiful on you. Your vision of the perfect evening sounds wonderful, especially the rose!! Haha! We’re still waiting for a lovely warm evening, too. Although it’s not cold, it’s been damp and foggy in the morning and evening. I would love some heat!

I will send some over to you! Haha, thanks Darlene!
I like Midsummer series too, but I prefer the older seasons, now there is a whole new cast and I find hard to adapt to all the cast changes, I think I liked the original cast the best. I like British crime shows too.
This is a beautiful dress, I really like its prints and cut.
You look like a mermaid in this dress.
Have a lovely day!

What a beautiful dress Nancy! You totally are a pink lady and very pretty!

Thanks Sonja!
You look so pretty and the dress and flowers behind you go so beautifully together. The weather you describe sounds perfect. You know, I really like the length of that dress on you. I might decide to call it a “midi” and call it a day. We’ve had a a few days with heat warnings with temps hitting a heat index of 43 C degrees today–ugh, stay inside!

Pff, that is to much! Someone said to me that a real long maxi dress isn’t even that practical. So I am very happy with this lenght now!
This dress is very pretty and it fits you beautifully hugging you in all the right places. If you decide to skip the chocolate send it my way, haha!

I’d like to join you on one of your midsummer’s evenings, Nancy! We could talk about our love for English murder mysteries lol!! You look gorgeous – I love the dress, even the length, although I also like a maxi dress to be really long, almost to the floor!
By the way, have you seen the Australian TV show, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries? I absolutely love that!!
