I have a update about the lungtransplant list, but not what I hoped for. I will tell you later in this post. And so we’re slowly getting closer to spring! Haha, if only it were that kind of party. Last Saturday evening, we had my brother-in-law’s birthday. We went there in Gerben’s car. Our own car doesn’t have window frames. So, what happens to a car like that when it’s been sitting idle for a week, covered in snow and freezing temperatures? The doors won’t open!
I am glad it’s not freezing anymore

So Gerben climbed through the trunk to the driver’s side—keep in mind that Gerben is 2 meters tall and weighs 100 kg. (6 feet 6, 220 pound, if I did it correct, otherwise you have a strange image of Gerben I guess….)And I was sitting inside our house, warm, watching. I thought: but you only have to press the start button, right? But it’s an automatic, so you also have to press the brake pedal. Oh, how I laughed! How mean, isn’t it? But after the car had been running for over half an hour, at least one door opened. But repeating that in the middle of the night didn’t seem like a good idea.
- In the snow, below zero, in the national park. Gerben is hiding.
- Sunday’s breakfast, pancakes with fruit.
- Such a gorgeous winter flower, Amaryllis.
- At the transplant centre.
On Sunday, after a hearty pancake breakfast, we went to the park. After a week stuck inside, I really needed some fresh air. It was still completely snowy, so we couldn’t walk, as you can’t get through in a wheelchair. We did spend 45 minutes outside in minus 3 degrees Celsius, and I loved it. Monday was the same as always. On Tuesday, we had to go to Groningen for my six-monthly checkup with the lungtransplant team. Wow, I’ve been on the list for six months already. Will it ever happen?
Lungtransplant list update

No, probably not. The breathalyzer test shows I’m remaining relatively stable. That means I’m slowly deteriorating, which is inevitable with my illness. And the doctor told us it could be another four years before my turn comes. That sounds like hell to me. I already feel so incredibly limited. But he told me that people who undergo surgery can’t do anything at all for at least a year. Only sit and lie down. Well, that’s awful! And I have to slowly get used to that!

You understand that I’m having a really hard time changing my mindset at the moment. Again! Having to focus on what’s possible and that kind of nonsense. I’ve heard that so many times before. And he also said we could definitely go to England again. Now you might think, but isn’t that wonderful? No! I’ve already said goodbye to my beloved England, and if we go again, I’ll have to do it all over again. Pffff, I’m finding it all a bit tough.
Well, this is a cheerful post for you, lol. So, I’m going to continue with my week. On Wednesday, my co-organizers from the Longpunt came to my place to discuss this year’s meetings. We’ve almost finalized the program of this year! And on Thursday, I went back to the gym for a work out and went to the nail stylist in the afternoon. Today it is cleaning day. Have a great weekend!
Oh yeah, the outfit. This skirt was under the Christmas tree(bought it myself, lol). A lovely knit and a very pretty print. Very warm and comfortable. I often wear it with black boots, but these look way much better.

And now it is time to join a Fancy Friday Fashion party!
Every Friday you can put your blog, or social media account, in the spotlights and meet other bloggers. Even if you’re not a blogger you can join! But it is a fun way to let others know about your blog posts, and to support each other. It would be nice if you would comment when you join the linkup party. I also pin my favourite on Pinterest.

I’m so sorry Nancy. That is tough news. I would have loved to have seen a video of your hubby crawling through the trunk :). My son-in-laws van was frozen shut too when he visited us for the holidays. Love your new skirt!

No knowing what the future holds and not knowing what to plan is so hard: it’s kind of like that with my parents right now and the unknown stresses me out. I am trying to enjoy the one day at a time when they are ok and the hard days typically ends (not a good evening last night, hubby and I had to drive to their house to make sure mom was okay and to make sure she ate). I hope that your lungs remain stable for a very long time. I am sorry it wasn’t the news you hoped for.
Love this winter outfit and yes to the light boots with it!

Thank you very much Mireille. Oh gosh, do your parents live nearby? That is stressful when they are not doing well.

Nancy, I am so very sorry you didn’t receive the news you’d wanted. We will all hope and send you positive vibes and prayers and all the things that you don’t have to wait four years. I understand your feelings about England, too. But, that means you can say hello to another country, perhaps?
Your Christmas present buyer (hahaha) has very good taste. I really like the skirt with the white boots. And, I would never think to crawl through the trunk. Gerben is very smart (and very tall). Thanks so much for the link up!
