![Me in my black leather dress](https://nancysfashionstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Leather-dress.jpg)
I used to love my leather dress. Nowadays I still like it, but there is also a dark cloud hanging there because of animal well being. I am also eating less and less meat and I sometimes see myself becoming a vegetarian one day. It doesn’t hurt to think twice when you buy leather or eat a lot of meat. But I think I will not buy a real leather dress or skirt anymore, the faux leather ones are just as good!
My black leather dress![black dress with green cardigan and plaid scarf](https://nancysfashionstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Leather-dress-2.jpg)
But I think I’ve had this leather dress for about eight years. Haven’t worn it for about six years. I remember that I wanted a black leather dress for years. A close-fitting, sexy and cool leather dress. Like Nikita wore back then! (if you remember that series)When I bought this one, I actually thought it was a bit too short, which is why I didn’t wear it that often. Now I think it was a shame to just hang in the closet.(blogging gave me a lot more confidence) And I certainly won’t sell it. So wear it!
Wear that leather dress girl!
I always like to do that. Something that you no longer love and is hanging in your closet for a while now, and then style it with items you never wore on that item. Try to mix it with something completely different. I, for example, take a skirt and then go over to my tops and sweater closet and look for things I have never worn with that skirt. I do the same with the jacket and cardigan closet. And often I come to a outfit that I would never thought of wearing it like that. I also did it with this leather dress, but you only can add a cardigan or jacket of course! And a scarf! Lol. It’s fun to be a bit creative with your clothing.
That’s also why I never, almost never, buy a complete outfit. I just by seperates. Because I tend to wear that complete outfit in only that way. I don’t like that. But it often happened to me that I bought a printed skirt and had nothing that I thought looked good on the skirt. Yes even with a seperate closet for my tops that happens!Would really appreciate it if you would share my photos on Pinterest.
I would love it if you could follow me on Instagram!

This leather dress is terrific! I’ve never owned one but if I did I’d like it to be cut just like this one. Love how you styled it! Have a great weekend Nancy!

My pleasure Jill!
Nancy, you sexy thing! You look amazing in this leather dress. I absolutely love it and the green cardigan and scarf add a touch of elegance to the edgy feel of the leather. I am so glad that I am not the only one who keeps things hanging around my closet for years unworn. I hate to get rid of things. You never know when you will want to wear them again! I love your boots, too!

Thanks! Yes I love those boots too. Normally I get rid of things to early. I am very organised, I hate over full closets! Lol.
I adore the dress and I agree that you need to wear it because you have it! Love the added scarf to it. Thanks so much for the link up!

Thanks Mica! Have a great weekend!
I agree that it is fun to create new outfits with older pieces. You did a great job of showing options with this dress. I like the scarf.
There are issues with pleather as well since it is really plastic and doesn’t decompose like leather will. That said, I’ve been a vegetarian most of my life. I’d be vegan if I could give up eggs but that is the one thing I still eat.

And that is something that I don’t eat! Haha, thanks Suzanne.
I’ve had a leather jacket, a leather skirt, leather shoes, a leather purse…but never a leather dress! So cool Nancy, and I love how you styled it, especially the extra details in those tights!

Haha, it’s time to buy a leather dress Chrissy!
Love how you styled the dress with the green cardigan, it’s such a pretty dark shade of green and you look gorgeous in this outfit!

I love this dress, Nancy! It is nothing wrong with the length, you styled it very well. I also love your scarf, it helped to elevate the whole look. Accessories are our biggest helpers!

I’m glad you pulled that dress out and are styling it, again. It’s something you bought years ago, I don’t think there’s any harm wearing it. You’ve really softened its look up with the scarf and cardigan. So nice!

Thanks Kim!
I have seen more leather dresses online lately and seperates. This looks sensational on you, fits to a T! It is fun to experiment and try different combinations of our clothes. I love the way you belted that scarf!

Such an awesome dress, and such great stuyling with the long line cardigan and scarf. I’m in two minds about leather. I only have one leather jacket but it’s so much superior to any pleather jackets I’ve seen. And what about shoes and boots? xxx
Author
Yes indeed. Because I bought leather boots a few months ago without even thinking! So I am not sure what to think of it.
love that dress!

Thanks love!
You always style your pieces so wonderfully. I think it’s good for our brains to do this. And belting that scarf that way…pure brilliant. I need to do that now.

Wow, you are a knockout in that leather dress, Nancy!! I know what you mean about animal products, but leather is so luscious–and it lasts forever! But you are right that faux leather is a pretty good substitute. I love the way you belted the plaid over your coat–great style!
Happy holidays, my friend,

The dress looks really so good on you Nancy , sometimes it is right to put things away for a time and then play with them in a different way. As for the leather , very much a personal choice. I am vegetarian but I do wear leather, both clothing and always leather shoes. The faux leather has its own share of problems too.
Many thanks for the link up, enjoy your weekend Nancy.

Yes I know but somehow real leather doesn’t appeal to me as it used to do. I guess there is nothing wrong with being aware is there Jill.
That’s a hot little number, Nancy! Love how you made it more casual, but think it could work for dressier occasions too!

Gorgeous dress! Glad you rediscovered it… I don’t buy “outfits” either! I regularly see wardrobes built with outfits that have no cohesive style or versatility!
Author
Yes that’s it! Why not be creative ourselves. Although I know , from when I was working, that a lot of women can’t choose outfits.
This is such a cool and stylish way to style your dress Nancy. Love wearing scarfs too. Have a lovely weekend. xo Sabina
