![Cycling in Rye during our holiday in May](https://nancysfashionstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/holiday-in-May-Rye-1.jpg)
Our holiday in May is over! I feel so sad, we had such a fantastic relaxed time. Finally time to spend together and enjoy life. Well, we always enjoy life, it was more to have time with each other. We went to Rye on Tuesday the 21st. We had decided to go to the b&b instead of a holiday park because we couldn’t leave earlier. And later wasn’t a option. Because we had two weeks vacation and we love to spend the second week at home and have day trips.
We have spend many holidays at this b&b, and Bert and Carol are such lovely people. And Rye is a fantastic picturesque village with fabulous pubs! We went there last February too!
What did we do in our holiday in May.
We cycled for the first time in the UK. We had to get used to it a bit in the beginning, because you do not have the beautiful bike paths as in the Netherlands. But it was wonderful to do and I am sure we will do that more often. If you also want to cycle once in the Rye area, I advise you to rent the bikes at Rye Bay E-bikes. (not sponsored) Incredibly nice couple and they have nice routes! We cycled past Sir Paul McCartney’s recording studio!
- THE windmill! of Sir Paul
- The Mint, my favorite street in my favorite town, Rye.
- At Si Italian in Rye! Such a good place to eat.
We spent two days in Brighton and Hastings. Just a little shopping, a nice walk on the pier and sit on the beach and of course eating good food.
- Brighton promenade
- This is the accessories stall I always visit, didn’t bought a thing this time!
- I love this view, on Brighton beach with the pier in sight.
- Having Fish&Chips at sea.
- This is Hastings for me! Childhood sentiment.
- On the , boring, pier in Hastings
Saturday’s we went to Leeds castle where that weekend was a medieval festival. Very nice and cozy.
- Leeds castle
- Knights at the medieval festival
- Medieval festival at Leeds castle
- old crafts explained
- Lady on horseback
- Sad face, always in tears on our way back home.
Back in the Netherlands we went to the open air museum. Definitely recommended if you are in the Arnhem area. We cycled for two days and had lunch on the way. And we went to the national park, nice to be out in nature! On Saturday we went to a food truck, theater festival.
- Croquettes on bread, perfect luch during cycling.
- In our country we only have these in musea! wink wink!
- Eating a pancake in the open air museum.
- Cycling outfit.
- Hazelnut pie at the National Park, hey it is vacation!
- Foodtruck and theater festival
- Lot’s of food, lots of theater.
- Shaved ice cream for me!
It was a relaxing holiday and I really hope we can keep that relaxed vibe for a while. But I don’t think we will! You quickly fall back into being busy etc. etc. But in 3 months we will have vacation again and next weekend it is Pinkpop!
Wonderful to see you holiday pictures. You had a nice time and enjoy your holiday so much. I would like to see a medieval festival in U.K. too. You were at the right time at the right place. If we want to visite Leeds castle in 2016 we had no luck, no dogs allowed and we travel with our Luna.

Oh that is a shame. I hope you get to visit it once!
I looked up Rye and the B&B, both look so inviting. I can imagine why you have spent many holidays there and look back with fond memories. I was very happy to read that you went biking twice. As for the return to the normal routine. Let me quote Shakespeare for you: “If all the year were playing holidays; To sport would be as tedious as to work.” Love, Lieske

Haha, well he got that right! Rye is a very inviting village. It’s beautiful and we always see something new!

Time really does fly when you’re on holiday, doesn’t it? Seeing your photos of Rye, Brighton and Hasting is putting me in holiday mood. And how fantastic that there was a medieval festival when you visited Leeds Castle. It’s good to have some time off in your own country as well. I must try croquettes on bread, which I’ve never had 😉 xxx

That sounds like a good time to go! Everything in Christmas sphere!
What a fun vacation, lots of good times and food! Yum! We did a bicycle tour when in Chicago a few years ago and it was such a unique way to see the city and was a lot of fun! I was really tired afterwards! Sadly, I haven’t been on a bike since! I need to change that.
