Effortlessy chic. What does that actually mean? It means looking your best without doing to much, according to Google. Well I would like to hear more that! Who doesn’t right? Although it is of course also very nice to be busy with your outfits and your makeup, etc. That is, if we have the time! But if you don’t have that much time and you still want to look stylish, how do we do that? That is different for everyone of course. But for me it’s wearing jeans (yes, you read that good)or a black skirt. In fact, everything goes with it. But I often forget the accessories, while they are of course very important. But are jeans and a black skirt part of the effortless chic style?
I am back from two weeks off! We had a great holiday despite we didn’t went to Rye. The feeling of freedom was overwhelming. But on all good things comes a end, so I am back to normal life again. Which is pretty good too!.
How to look effortlessy chic
Apparently yes. The trick is not to opt for trendy items, but for the classics. So a blazer on the jeans. Breton stripe on the skirt. Or a nice warm sweater, with sneakers. Do not use bright colors, but use a lot of black, white and tan. And not clothes that wrinkle, or cheap fabrics. (according to Google that is again)
I came up with the idea for this post when we were thinking of a new theme for The Good Buy/Good-Bye. Ballerinas, and how would I wear them. I immediately had these two outfits in mind. So you see, even thinking about it was effortless. I also think this style is a bit Parisian chic. Simple, lots of black and white, classic items and some gold colored accessories. And comfortable, because no heels.
What is so effortless about it then
It is that you grab items that have neutral colors, and in which you always feel good. For me, of course, that’s a black skirt. And I wear this sweater a lot on it because I think it looks best. But monochrome black and then some gold jewelry is very chic too. And for jeans, for me, when I wear a blazer on it, it immediately becomes effortless chic.
I also often wear jeans when I go cycling, because that’s easy, but then I really don’t feel stylish and effortlessy chic at all. It is precisely the classic element of the blazer that does the trick. Even sneakers could be worn underneath, but white or black. So the keywords for an effortless chic look are black and white and classic. At least in my eyes, you may have a completely different opinion about it.
What is your definition of effortlessy chic?

Nancy, I absolutely adore these outfits in black and white with your cute ballerinas! I enjoyed reading your interpretation of effortlessly chic as well! I actually have never really liked that phrase “effortlessly chic” because no matter how effortless it looks, you know there is some effort put into it! I guess sometimes I take things too literally. Haha. It makes me think of when the doctor asks your pain level with 0 being no pain and 10 being unbearable pain. I always wonder if people ever answer 10. In my eyes, if you can answer 10, then you’re lying because if it’s truly unbearable as the doctor asked, you shouldn’t be able to answer! Fun post, my friend! I hope you have an amazing weekend!

Hahaha, oh yes. And I am always thinking: why does it have to be hole numbers? Can’t it be 6,5 or something like that! Thanks love!
Effortlessly chic to me means you grab something and throw it on and just look chic without trying too hard. That comes from having a closet of great, basics, classic styles, neutral colors so no matter what you are always ready!
Your outfits are great examples, I always want to look effortlessly chic but I’m still working on it!

I love the breton shirt with the skirt and the outfit with the white blazer. I really like blazers with jeans! I think that most of my outfits are too colorful to be effortlessy chic but they are effortlessy fun!

I agree – an item like a blazer or a kimono immediately elevates almost any outfit, making it chic. I do reach for jeans when I’m in hurry. And while agree with you about black, I find I’m not inclined to wear it much anymore. No idea why.

Not many women like black a lot.You are also the more colourful type to me!
It’s one of those terms I’m struggling with, to be honest. And I do wonder why it have to be neutrals. Why can’t one be effortlessly chic when wearing colour? That said, a blouse and blazer worn with jeans is an instant classic, and so is a skirt worn with a Breton striped top, which is my favourite of the outfits here! xxx P.S. I hope your shopping trip was fun and successful!

I guess, but that is only my not colourful brain thinking, that colours make a look more frivol rather then chic? I enjoyed the shopping very much, although I couldn’t find something special.
Hope you had a great vacation! For me, effortlessly chic seems to be a style that takes a lot of effort to achieve! Your outfits hit the mark, though. Having classic pieces to work with helps. I love all of your looks, especially the striped top and full, swishy midi skirt. Thanks for the link up and have a good weekend!

Thank you.
I think “effortlessly chic” is a state of mind more than specific items. I always feel chic when I wear a dress – you know me and my Jammy Dresses, Nancy! But with a dress, I just throw on shoes and maybe a bracelet or a necklace or statement earrings (or all of them, because I am a maximalist!), and I’m good to go, no fussing.
I don’t own blue jeans – they just aren’t something I feel good in.
Thank you so much for the link-party!

What else is there to throw on more! Lol. I don’t like jeans that much either, although I am pretty happy with these ones.
To me, effortless chic means I can throw something on without giving it much thought and know I’ll feel and look good in it. And I’d say that definitely describes all of the looks you’re wearing here!
