Create a Bedroom around your Clothing Collection

Create a Bedroom

If you’re thinking about how you’d like to arrange and create your bedroom, then your wardrobe might provide ample inspiration. After all, the choices you make when it comes to clothing tend to reflect your personal tastes. If you habitually wear purple, with just a little bit of gold and black here and there, then it might be that you’ll feel at home in a bedroom that reflects those colours.
The wardrobe itself, of course, might take up a great deal of room in your bedroom space. As such, it’s worth thinking about how you’ll use it to make your clothing collection easy to organise in a way that’s space-efficient and stylish.

Create a bedroom with your wardrobe in mind

Your wardrobe should reflect the clothing that you’ll store within it. If your style is fairly minimalistic, then you might need just a small amount of space. If you like to push the boat out, on the other hand, then you might need a larger piece of furniture to accommodate a large collection. The colours and finishes you choose for your wardrobe might also reflect its contents.

Choose furniture that works hard

If there’s limited space inside your bedroom, then getting extra storage for out-of-season items might be essential. You can seal those items in a vacuum bag, and keep them stored in a bench, a set of drawers, or beneath an Ottoman bed, until the time comes to get them out again.

Make space for display and access

Keeping your clothing hidden can help the room to feel cleaner and tidier, and to drive down the sense of visual noise and chaos. At the same time, you might want to display the items that you really like, and which you’ll reach for frequently. Open clothing rails, and glass wardrobes, can help you to do this.
Try to make your wardrobe space functional and practical, and aesthetics will often follow. Group similar items together, and impose a sense of order. Make sure that the floor space is clear, and try to carve out a permanent space for when it isn’t.

Create a calm, cohesive finish

Your choice of lighting and textures can really help to bring the room together, and make your collection easier to navigate. A few LED diffuser strips can be deployed to make your wardrobe easier to navigate, as well as prettier to look at. Pick out hues that match your personal style. Warm whites will make the space feel more relaxing; colder ones will allow you to judge what the clothing really looks like. You can find plenty of inspiration online. Just make sure that you’re not solely reliant on a single downlighter in the middle of the room.

People have been very surprised at my bedroom – it started with us choosing what was meant to be a living room for the bedroom – because, well, you could probably say it’s eclectic 😉

I love that idea of designing a room around your wardrobe. It makes the space feel personal and organized at the same time. Displaying favorite pieces while keeping the room calm sounds both practical and stylish.

Hmmm…my bedroom would be a cacophony of color! But, it is the perfect color for me…at least right now. I like the idea of using your wardrobe as a starting point. It makes sense if a certain color appears a lot in your closet, it’s one you obviously like. Thanks for the tips, Nancy!
