Glad to be back home again, back to ,,normal life,,.

back home again

Well, here we are back again! I didn’t post last Friday because I had spent the whole week in the hospital. I had been suffering from extreme shortness of breath for a few weeks and had already been taken to the emergency room once before. But now I had to stay because the medication I was receiving at home wasn’t working, so I needed antibiotics via IV. I was so happy to be allowed home after five days. But I’m not quite there yet. I feel like I’ve lost a huge amount of muscle strength. Of course, I’ve lost some weight again. My face is deathly pale and I look like a ghost. Well, surely that will all be fine again? Just say yes….

The featured photo is from 4 years ago. I use older photos for this because I don’t think a selfie looks good as a feature. So I pick an old photo where I still think the outfit is really nice.

Back home again, that’s the best

I received a huge number of visitors and my nightstand was full of treats. I feel so blessed. So, I was allowed to go home on Friday, and I quietly tidied up all my stuff, took a shower, and washed my hair. That makes you feel a bit better anyway. And in the evening, we thoroughly enjoyed the fact that I was home again, just the two of us.

We already had plans for the weekend, and we went ahead with them. After all, the distraction and company help with recovery too. So on Saturday evening, we went to play cards at my brother and sister-in-law’s. We did lose, though… On Sunday, we went to my sister and brother-in-law’s and stayed for dinner. When you’ve had hospital food for a week, fresh vegetables taste so good!

Monday marked the start of the normal week again. Gerben went to work, so I had to get started on my own. I still feel very unsteady on my feet and get tired very quickly. Monday was a bit different, though, because I also need to start structuring my days differently. I do too much, and that is too tiring for my body. So I still need to find a way to manage that. Also, I was asked several times in the hospital if I wanted to do rehabilitation again. Pfff, 3 months as an inpatient, I really don’t fancy that. But I do have to start thinking about it.

Working on my recovery

Tuesday and Wednesday were pretty much the same. Gentle exercise, at home, doing a bit of housework. Making sure not to tire myself out too much. The pulmonary nurse called, it’s so nice to have a direct line of communication with her. I ordered some lingerie and clothes. Hopefully, they fit. On Thursday, I had an appointment at the hairdresser. I had it scheduled last week, so it was really necessary. But I did find it nerve-wracking to go out on my own and I felt very insecure.

I even thought about cancelling the appointment. But I went and it went pretty well. I just felt so wobbly on the bicycle. Jeez, I’ve really lost a lot of muscle strength. But my hair looks good again! I really have such a super hairdresser. I don’t actually even have to say anything, she always dyes and cuts it perfectly! Well, just try finding one like that. But I’ve got a little bit of self-confidence back. I really need to, because I’m planning to work out at the physio again next week. But first, the weekend! Make the most of it!

And now it is time to join a Fancy Friday Fashion party!

Every Friday you can put your blog, or social media account, in the spotlights and meet other bloggers. Even if you’re not a blogger you can join! But it is a fun way to let others know about your blog posts, and to support each other. It would be nice if you would comment when you join the linkup party. I also pin my favourite on Pinterest.

My Fancy Friday Favourite of last week is: Amber of Hungry Mountaineer

Nancy, I was reading your earlier post concerning your health am glad that you are feeling quite well. About your observation of the disappearing of bloggers and thinning string of comments. I myself took more than a year off blogging just because i kind of lost it. Maybe the other bloggers feel the same. I am happy to be back. Have a wonderful weekend Anna

Sorry to hear about your time in hospital. Having to do less during the day will be awful for you, you’re so active. I’m sure you’ll make it work and find it satisfying.

So sorry to hear you had to spend the whole week in the hospital. I’m glad your back home and hope you start to build that muscle strength back up. I know it’s frustrating to have to have take things slower. How sweet that you were spoiled by all your visitors. Hopefully that made the time pass a bit quicker.

Not having to have hospital food should help with that, too. The risotto Gerben made looks so much better!

Nancy, I’m glad you’re back home. The hospital is just not the place to get rest, good food, or comfort even though they’re taking such good care of you. There really is no place like home for getting better. I hope your weekend is fun just like the last one. Thanks so much for the link up!

Oh Nancy, so sorry to hear that you were in the hospital, but glad you’re back at home. I can relate to being frustrated with not recovering more quickly—I am dealing with a pinched nerve in my back and have a long road to recovery ahead. Gosh, five days in hospital must have been so hard, but I’m so happy that you’ve been well looked after and are now safe and sound at home. And even then, you still got up and got dressed and took OOTDs! You’re amazing, Nancy! Take care of yourself, don’t do too much! Sending lots of healing hugs,
