From frost to fresh: transforming a winter outfit for spring

transforming a winter outfit for spring

I haven’t bought anything new yet, so I am transforming my winter outfits for spring for now. It isn’t warm enough to go bare legged and with short sleeves and all again, so a cardigan and leggings are still necessary. And are you already checking out the new spring collections? Scouring the shops? Or comparing all the new items online? It will be so nice to look for sandals, dresses and tops. We have been packed with layers long enough. I think I will definitely look for coloured sneakers, but I have already seen so many that I like! The Puma Speedcat is my favourite. Already stressing about choosing colour.

But I also see a lot of slingbacks with kitten heels and I have always been in love with those. I have seen a very attractive red and pink one with a flower on top. But I know I will not wear those as they got a heel. But I saw a pair in black without heels, that is going to my home for sure. And golden sandals! Oh boy, I already want so much, they call me caterpillar never enough for a reason…….

Furthermore, I still see a lot of brown, but I have worn that so much last winter that I do not plan on buying anything new in brown. But you never know with me! I haven’t put that much in the carts yet. I will try to just go to my closet first and see what I definitely will wear again. And what new colours to add to it. In stead of just buying what I like. Because most of the time it doesn’t compare with what I already have…..

My look for colder spring days

transforming a winter outfit for spring

I really like wearing this dress, I think the colours are so pretty. And it can easily be worn on warmer days too. Sneakers and a denim jacket would also look great. Here is how I wore it in the winter. Now with a thin ballet vest and my white cowboy boots. Those boots that are actually a bad buy…… let’s not talk about it any further. Gold accessories and a brown ring is what I added.

I thought I wasn’t bored with my winter clothes yet, but of course I was wrong. I want to buy! Haha, I am really holding myself back. Which isn’t a bad thing of course. But I also haven’t seen anything yet that really sparks my eye. Except for black slingbacks. Well, it is still very early in the season and it is still to cold here and it will be next week too, so I am not in a hurry. In the meanwhile I will try to wear the items that haven’t been worn much, maybe I fall in love with those again. Don’t think so…..

Great transformation- the lighter colored boots are a nice touch. I love a kitten heel and a slingback too – shoes are a weakness for me! I’d love a pair of sandals too, I bought a pair I really like and need to keep myself from buying more!
Hope it warms up for you soon, I know you love the warm weather!

This is a lovely look, Nancy! I spent way too much time the other day looking at the Zara website; they have so many cute things. I am not motivated to buy anything new right now, though, because it’s still cold here haha. Anyway! I hope that you have a lovely weekend! XO

Nancy, love this layered outfit! You did a great job at creatively using the things in your closet to create a bridge season outfit. I hope the weather warms up for you soon, so you can wear all the things you love best! Thanks for hosting the link up party and hope you have good weekend!

Hi, Nancy – I have really cut back on my buying because I have too many clothes! Now I’m being careful that I really need something before purchasing it. And besides, I am trying my best to give my money to companies that support causes that I want to promote…and not give my money to companies that use it against my best interests. Sneaker colors that I have seen promoted by other influencers are: gold, red or mocha mousse. Maybe that will help you decide. 😉 It is really still quite cold here in the State of Michigan, USA. Today is a high temperature of 40 degrees Fahrenheit and rainy. Brrrr! And it goes down to freezing at night off and on. Here it’s the same weather wise. I really want it to be warmer and be outside all the time! And eat elfresco!

The wrap cardigan looks really nice with the dress and yes, I can see that dress transformed for the spring. I pulled several of my bright dresses to wear the next few weekends. I was very tempted by a pair of mesh Mary Janes at Target today that were on sale, but refrained myself. I did leave with a tee that was really pretty with “le Soleil” that was super cheap.
I have moved around my closet to add my spring things and I really have more than enough to wear and I like it all.

I think I could have not resisted the Mary Janes! I still have to get out my spring clothes, but it is to cold yet.

It’s great that you’re making the most of your winter pieces and transforming them for spring! I totally get the excitement of shopping for new spring clothes, especially when it comes to sandals and dresses. Your thoughts on choosing colors and styles really resonate—sometimes it’s easy to get carried away with what’s new, but going through your closet first is always a smart move. I also love how you’ve styled your dress, adding those accessories to freshen it up. Hope you find the perfect pieces when you’re ready to shop!

You are invited to my new blog post, and have a nice Friday.

Great outfit, Nancy! I rolled my eyes when I saw that slingbacks are “in” again – I hate them! They cut into my heels, they squish my toes and I loathe that “slap slap” sound they make when you walk. So funny how fashion comes around – I’ll be passing on those!

Thanks so much for the link-party!

I love, love, love reading your blog posts, Nancy! You’re so doggone honest and fun. I think adding these tights and sweater really makes the print of the dress stand out. Is the dress thin enough to wear in the summer? It truly is gorgeous! Thanks for the link up!

Yes the dress is rally thin. I think a bit to sheer too. BUt I still will wear it with leggings when it’s a bit warmer.

I love how you transformed this outfit and made it Spring appropriate.
The dress is gorgeous and the matching tights and cardigan really bring it to life.

That beautiful blooming tree in the background of your photos says spring is just around the corner. Really like this combination of pieces. The light boots say ‘spring’ to me, even though you are still having to wear tights with them. We are going on an Alaskan cruise next month and I don’t know what to pack for the dressy evenings. Hate to go bare-legged because it will be likely in the 40s, but then again that’s COLD!! But then again, it will be April and May while we are gone. Do I dress for the weather or dress for the season?

For the weather! But I guess that dressy evenings are inside and it will be warm. But how exiting is such a cruise! I want to read all about it Leslie!
