Finally I can wear my beloved summer clothes, like this maxi skirt. Finally the sun is shining, finally no layers, finally eating outside! Loving it all and more! The first best day full of sunshine I chose to wear a black maxi skirt. Maxi skirts are ideal for long summer evenings because I’m getting eaten by mosquitoes these days. While before it was always Gerben’s turn and never me. Liked that version better….
Black maxi skirt in summer
I have had this maxi skirt for a few years now and I immediately fell in love with it. But it was way too big in the waist so I didn’t wear it. Fortunately, we have a tailor here in the village and since then the maxi skirt has fit perfectly and I wear it a lot when it is warm.
I never wore maxi skirts until about four years ago. Never thought they looked nice on me, but the vibe of a maxi skirt didn’t appeal to me either. I thought it was a bit too boho, a style I never wear. But at some point I saw this one that I received because I participated in a television program for lung patients, and my opinion changed about the maxi skirt.
Wearing a black skirt when it’s hot
Black is my favourite colour, even in the summer, perhaps especially in the summer. It looks great on a sunkissed skin. I’m wearing a graphic t-shirt on top of the maxi skirt. I fell for the colours! I hear you thinking: colours? It’s grey Nancy. Yes it is, but it also has green and pink in it and some glittering gold too! Fits perfectly with my tattoo that is finally showing up again! (because of short sleeves…..)
The espadrilles in green are also really great summer shoes. I a not a huge fan of summer shoes. I like boots, and especially ankle boots, better. But espadrilles are the perfect summer shoe in my eyes. I again fell in love with the colour!
I am wearing golden accessories to light up the black maxi skirt look. And a statement pink ring that I wear a lot. This is really a summer outfit with a maxi skirt that I feel very comfortable in. I also wore the maxi skirt last Sunday at a bbq with friends. The first one this year! And we have another one with friends this weekend too, yeah, bbq galore! Let’s hope it will be dry.
But that’s what it’s all about, that you wear what makes you feel the best. Because only then can you shine!

I adore maxi skirts – this black flounced one is a great basic, and I had one just like it many years ago. I’ve since collected probably close to 20 maxis – I’ve never counted, but I bet I easily have that many! Fabulous outfit – and I also find myself disliking summer shoes. They can only be worn when it’s really hot out, which is only two months here.
