Wintergreen- The Thrifty Six

wintergreen collage

A very good theme, wintergreen, chosen by Sally. Because I love green a lot. Is there a difference between wintergreen and summergreen? I guess so. In winter you see more the Kelly green. Which is a cold colour so not for me. It’s a real Christmas colour though isn’t it? Are you in the Christmas mood already? I am! Totally loving it all. Let’s take a look at all this wonderful pre loved wintergreen!

Welcome to The Thrifty Six. We are a group of international fashion influencers who meet once a month in our little space on the internet to share our thrifty outfits. On the third Monday of every month, we will all share an outfit based on a theme that features pre loved wardrobe pieces. Shopping and reselling pre loved clothing is so much better for the environment and you can find some of the best fashions in thrift or charity shops. The Thrifty Six are here to inspire you to shop second hand.

My wintergreen combat trousers

Green trousers with embroidery

Aint this a colourful outfit for me! I love the pink jacket with the red boots. And although I am totally not a fan of red and green together, to Christmassy, it works somehow in this look. And you all know how I love black but I never wear these pre loved trousers with black. Only with red, pink or yellow. So you could say these are my out of the box trousers. It even has some embroidery on the left pocket.  My favourite shade of green, btw, is sage green.

wintergreen

For this month’s challenge I chose my second hand Marks and Spencer coat that I bought on eBay a few years ago. I’ve teamed it with black palazzo jeans (also M&S), a geometric print top from Warehouse and chunky Converse from Vinted.

I believe in the power of the color green and had the 3 of us from my crew show different concepts of how to wear it. I am using it as a pop of color in my monochromatic outfit.
Everything except my eyeglasses and lace Halftee (under the sweater) is thrifted or preloved.

velvet green outfit

Wintergreen’; a beautiful shade of green, somewhere between teal, peacock and pine…

…it’s a rich jewel colour with a distinct festive feel, perfect for a special Christmas Day outfit!

I found this vision in velvet at a Kilo Sale way back in January; it was love at first sight and I knew it would be my Christmas Day dress…

Soft velvet radiates light, gold trims bring opulence and the exquisite neck piece looks like it’s part of the dress…

I can’t wait to step out on Christmas morning – I hope the day is as bright and fresh as this dress!

Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge

wintergreen duster

I found this wintergreen duster style top with brown squiggles on a summertime thrifting adventure. I never had the chance to wear it before the cold weather arrived, but I was able to style this lightweight top for winter with some creative layering. I added preloved boots, necklace, scarf, and earrings in various shades of brown and green to create a cool color combination that really stands out in the snow.

Sally of Within a World of My Own

sage green jumper pre loved

I love every shade of green in winter, but for a December outfit, I chose olive and sage greens with black and a pop of red. I can wear this thrifted black-and-olive leaf print dress in every season of the year, depending on how I layer it. The thrifted scarf is an amazing woven pattern with red, bright pink, orange, black, dark blue, and green tones that blend together beautifully.

This is such a fun outfit, Nancy! I love those green combat pants. They are so cool. And the red and pink together is an unexpected but totally brilliant combination! This was one of my favorite thrifty themes so far because I do love all the shades of green!

You know, Nancy, for only liking black, you look fabulous in colors! This pink jacket is perfect on you, and I love the floral (maybe) top underneath! But, what makes it all so cool are your trousers! I’m loving that look right now, and I wish I was tall enough to pull it off!
