I have always loved a classic style, and a little black dress is just part of that. For The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book we did the little black dress as a theme and I had this one in mind. I showed it on Shelbee’s blog. I had a great time shopping, online unfortunately, and found some fabulous items. I held back and didn’t buy everything I liked. I did ask myself what I needed the most at the moment. Good of me right! Black is always beautiful so that doesn’t count, hahaha, it’s great when you can make up your own rules. So today I’m wearing a black outfit again. And I found this dress on Vinted.
Little black dress……in my head it was much nicer
I have to stop putting items in a basket when I find a piece of clothing that I really like and then look at it again later. If I’m really in love with it I just have to buy it, because before I know it it’s already sold out or just sold. So I quickly decided that I wanted to buy this black dress. (to quickly!) Super simple, nice quality, perfect length (when I saw it online). But I fell for the gold studs. Black and gold, such a good combination.
So when I unpacked the black dress I was stunned by the quality and the looks of it. I really thought it was a perfect dress. And looked forward to wearing it. Until I put it on. Way too short!
And because it’s made of a heavy stretch quality, it also shows terribly. I have a pair of corrective underwear that fits so tightly around my stomach that it gives me a stomach ache. I wore those underneath, and it still isn’t nice and tight. By the way, I never wear corrective underwear. If something fits terribly, it’s that… but you can’t wear this dress without, well not when you are 58 anyway….
Classic or bold? (or neither….)
For the classic way, I wear the black dress with a cardigan and slingbacks. A bit like Audrey Hepburn but without pearls. And she had a better dress. I wore a few golden accessories. For the bold look, I wear ankle boots and a fashionable biker jacket. Some more striking gold-colored accessories added. None of the looks work for me!
I had just worked out, so the prints of my sports socks are still in my leg…. So this was quite a successful photo shoot, not. Funny actually that this dress is about the same length, and I always thought it looked great on me. I know I should not wear a shorter dress with bare legs, my legs are simply very ugly. Yeah, working out 4 times a week doesn’t always pay off!! Anyway, the black dress is going for sale again and makes room for a better purchase!

I love this LBD Nancy! The leather jacket is my preference with it. I adore the fit and gold details. Thanks for the link up!

Thnk you very much Kathrine.
It’s funny, I really like it with the biker jacket, that makes such a difference! At first I didn’t even get it was the same dress (tells you something about my fashion eye – that I don’t have one ;-)).

THanks.
I love wearing black especially in the summer, and I am currently looking for a black summer dress, but it would have to be midi or even maxi. I just can’t wear anything short these days so I do understand how you feel. You look chic though and I do like the gold detail so I can see why you bought it.
Your hair is looking great. Thanks for the link-up and have a good weekend.

Yes gold and black is a perfect duo isn’t it. I feel much better in longer dresses. Thanks Penny!
Hello Nancy,
I like black – in winter and in summer! Your dress is classy and it looks so good on you. Your great figure is perfectly showcased with it.

I don’t think it’s too short Nancy! I like it styled boldly because that looks like you – its edgy and fun!

Thanks Kellyann, I like that look better, but not good enough.
Hi Nancy, I like this classic little black dress on you! It has a really nice silhouette and great details. It looks so much like your style with the biker jacket, but I really love those sweet sling back flats with it, too. If you don’t love it though, you can always trade it in for something else you like better on Vinted! Thanks so much for hosting the link up and sharing your outfits, and hope you have a great weekend!

Indeed, it’s a pity to let something yoou don’t love hang in the closet! Thanks for stopping by Di!
It looks like a different dress with the necklace. Your legs look great, no issue there. I guess at the end of the day it’s your gut feeling that matters as to whether or not you will keep it. I think it looks cool with the jacket and necklace.

Thak you very much Gail!
Both of these looks are really cute. I don’t think it looks too short but I often things feel shorter than they look; it’s why I rarely wear short dresses myself.

Yes it is so totally different how you look at it yourself right. This one doesn’t work for me.
Great ways to change it up. It’s definitely a versatile dress.

But not for me Jodie!
I actually quite like this dress on you and I don’t think the length is too short. But it really matters what you think about it =)
I haven’t bought clothes online in quite a while so thankful I try everything on before I buy it.

That is so much better! I hate online shopping really.
I think this dress is actually quite cute, Nancy, and I think you can definitely get away with the length of it too! xxx

No way Ann, look at my knees and legs!! But you are very kind!
That is such a cute LBD! I love it styled with the leather jacket and boots for an edgy look!

The edgy look is much better but not great either. Thanks Jill.
Such a bummer when a dress isn’t as nice as you expected. It still looks very good in the picture, but I can totally understand you don’t like wearing if it shows all the bits you’ld rather not show ; )

Indeed Nicole and the lenght just is not good for me anymore.
I like the black dress styled with the boots and motorcycle jacket! It looks quite edgy that way. But, if it’s the wrong dress, it’s the wrong dress! I have been trying not to buy things I think I like then get them and find I really don’t like them at all. I’m about 50/50 on that! Thanks for the link up!

Thanks Marsha!
I think this dress looks great on you—you have the legs for it! I thought it was actually two different dresses; they way you styled it with the leather jacket and long necklace feels really cool and elevated. It’s a keeper if you ask me!
