One of the advantages of corona, yes there are even a few advantages to it, is that I have only bought a few new clothes the last couple of months. (I did buy pre loved like this short dress though.) I wondered why that was. I don’t really feel like buying new things because you don’t go out to have lunch, dinner, do something with friends, etc that much right. Huh, but do I only buy clothes to show others? Apparently. Mm, I am a bit disappointed with myself.
When to wear this short dress
It is a bit different of course. See, I did search for timeless pre loved clothes. If I were to order something new from Zara, for example, I would probably like it less by the time we go out. Because we can go to restaurants and all, but that’s about it. We don’t go to museas, no cinemas, no theaters, and not so much going out for lunch and dinner as we used to do. I still love fast fashion, can’t help myself there, but it also gets boring very quickly. At least the trendy items do, the more timeless ones not of course. And for that I find new clothes too expensive to buy now. Does that make any sense at all?
How to make a short dress work for you
This gorgeous black and white dress is actually too short for me. I am going to look more critically at my outfits because I have not been happy with them lately. So when I got this dress I thought, shit it’s too short. But I loved the dress so much. I just had to make it work. I am really in love with this reverse print. This Diane von Furstenberg dress has that too. I think that’s great. I get a kick out of such a print. If you are new here you will probably think, she is not good in her head ……
So the dress is too short. And how are we going to style it so that it looks good? With a legging underneath! But then a fake leather legging to make the look a bit cooler. Not a cotton one, that would look frumpy. I decided on wearing my patent leather ones. For a little contrast. And then a cool military jacket over it! And the lack of length has been resolved. It works! But only with heels, ankle boots could work to if it would be cooler.
So, if you are not happy with your outfit, make it work!

I love the dress with the leggings! And in fact, I have an outfit coming up in the next week or two that is a dress with leggings for the same reason. Ha! The reverse print in your dress is fabulous!

I’m guilty of shopping online way too much during lockdown. I had to do something to relieve the boredom! The dress looks great with the leggings Nancy. I might try this with a shorter dress too xx
Author
Haha, yes I know what you mean! Would love to see it Laurie!
It’s nice how you styled your dress with the trousers as you find it too short. I know what you mean about buying new clothes at the moment!

Nancy, this is brilliant styling to make this dress work for you. And oh my god! The print on this dress is so freaking fabulous! I am totally in love with it! You look amazing. I haven’t bought many new things recently either because I have way too much in my closet already, but I am ready to hit the second hand shops soon! Have a great weekend, my friend.

We haven’t got good second hand shops in the area, so I stay with my pre loved online shopping! Happy Sunday love!
I love that print: it is really cool and black and white is always a winner. I like adding leggings under a few of my dresses that I wear around the house.

I hardly ever wear trousers, but I do like leggings! Thanks hon!
Hi Nancy! I love this black and white dress. Great job working with what you have. I have been picking up a couple of casual summer things for home like sandals and a new pair of shorts. I’m pretty busy with the kids so even tho we are at home I still like to look stylish. 😉

That’s the right spirit Shannon! Thanks love!
I’m head over heels for this look! I love that the dress is pre-loved – you couldn’t have found a prettier one if you had searched hi and low all the trendy sites in fast fashion! You say it’s too short- well you solved that problem so perfectly!! I am totally in love with the way you put it all together. Real fashionista!! Have a great weekend gorgeous xx

Nancy, I love reading your thoughts!! You ARE right in the head!! Haha! This dress looks so cute with the faux leather leggings and the military jacket. What a great way to style it! I did buy quite a few things this spring as our summer lasts late into fall so I will–hopefully–be able to actually wear them out!!
Have a great weekend,
xx Darlene

Oh yes, I wish we could go out without being scared of other people again! Will that ever happen?
Great look, Nancy! I love the cut of this dress and the bold reverse graphic flower print. I will have to try your styling trick with the leggings underneath. I have some dresses and skirts that I love, but feel they are too short for me, too. Hope you have a good weekend!

I hope it will do the trick for you! Happy Sunday!
I don’t really see any upsides to Corona. OK, I might be buying less, but that’s just because I never ever shop online and shopping in real shops isn’t much fun these days! Also, even if I have been enjoying my time off work, I’d give my eye-teeth to go back to work full time, if only Corona was over and done with! That said, I am loving this cute dress you are wearing and you styled it excellently by wearing it over those fake leather leggings. The military style jacket is gorgeous too! xxx

Thanks Ann! I am always looking at things on the positive sight! Because otherwise this hole situation would scare the s…out of me.
Love the way you have styled this dress. Such a fab, cool look with the leggings. I haven’t been buying throughout the lockdown period apart from the odd workout item – but I have had my eye on a few items throughout which I may buy if they are reduced enough. I do love a great bargain!

Oh yeah, and now it is sale time!
What a wonderful outfit! I found I bought a ton of clothes this year; partly because I needed new clothes after having lost a bunch of weight and partly out of boredom.
Author
Out of boredom! Lol. Oh how bad we are…..lol.
I’m all about making things work like this Nancy, and the patent leggings are the perfect answer!!
Heck, you could even wear the dress over a skirt. I love getting creative like this.

Yeah! Ove a tulle skirt! Why didn’t I think of that! Will try that later this week!
Such a stylish look Nancy!! I really love the dress and it looks so cool with this jacket. I totally know what you mean – if we buy trendy stuff now, it’ll just be out of style already by the time we can fully enjoy going out again! I haven’t been buying anything recently, either. Although I do feel like I need to refresh my closet with a few new basics.
Hope you’re having a great day!

Oh but basics don’t count my dear, lol!
Well played Nancy – I would have done the same 🙂
Of course also a pair of tights would do.

No that would never give the dress the cool feeling like patent leggings do!
I just love your leather leggings underneath the dress! You look amazing!
What a very cute style hun!

I love the way you styled the dress with the faux leather leggings and I really like the print too. I find it difficult to get motivated to get dressed in anything different at the moment. I must get out of this funk. xx

Yeah you must! Just start the day by dressing up, you will feel much better and want to do it the next day again!
I love the dress, it has a great print and looks good layered with the trousers.

Love the print of this dress! I also wear leggings with short dresses or tights in cooler weather. But honestly, your dress does not look too short.

Love how you layered leggings under your dress! And I agree, there are some good things about the lockdown—I’ve definitely been shopping less because I have nowhere to go! 😉

The reverse print is so pretty on your dress. I’ve been shopping even though there hasn’t been many places to go. What can I do?

No exactly! No where to go!
Oh, dang, I missed the party.
Love your positive/negative print dress, Nancy! It doesn’t look too short for me, but I get that your preferences are for longer. You add your classic rock & roll vibe with your faux leather leggings!
