Do you feel as though your garden is really hard to low maintain? If so, then now is the time for you to try to do something about that. This guide will show you what you can do to not only make your garden look fantastic, but also to make sure that it is inexpensive to maintain. (Says someone who doesn’t maintain her garden but has a Gerben to do it for her, lol)
Raised Beds are ideal for a low maintenance garden

Raised beds are a very good way for you to make weeding easy. If you have a square bed that has some stunning spring flowers arranged, then this will make your garden look brilliant. If you grow all of your plants in raised beds, then gardening will be so much easier. You will also find that you don’t have to stretch all the time to get to the ground. Small things like this can make a huge difference to you, and they can also make it easier for you to get the overall result you need out of it. If you make it so you use raised beds, or if you can use thick logs or timbers to your advantage, then this will make it easier to plan out where plants are going to go as well.
Invest in the Right Tools
You should also take the time to invest in the right tools, if you can. Having the right tools for the right job is so important. It will also help you to reduce your workload in the garden, which is so important. There are a lot of handy gadgets out there that you can use to your advantage, including long-handled leaf collectors. You can also invest in a weed wacker if you want to help keep weeds at bay, as well as make sure that your grass is neat at the edges. Tools like this can help you to ensure that you can keep on top of your garden and your plants, with low maintenance, which is great to say the least.
No-Dig Gardening

If you want to help yourself, then you can also try to invest in no-dig gardening. Save on all of the back-breaking work by simply trying to make sure that you explore the right plots. Many gardeners cover the soil with compost and then organic material or even cardboard. If you do this, then you may find that you end up with way bigger crops, but at the same time, you will also find that it results in way less work overall. No dog can help you reduce your workload in the garden, but if you can look into solutions like this, it will make your garden easier to stay on top of over time.
Avoid Invasive Plants
Avoiding thuggish plants if you can. Invasive plants tend to be more work than they are worth. If you want to help yourself, making sure that you have good knowledge of plants is important. Will help you to make sure that you can get the result you need out of them, and that you can also feel confident in your choices. If you introduce invasive plants, then these will dominate, and they will also smother each other. At the end of the day, you must observe nature and try to work with it, rather than against it. If you can do this, then you will be able to not only feel happier with your decisions in the garden, but also make sure that you are not making your life harder than it needs to be.
Edge Borders

Edging your borders is also a good thing to do. If you can take the time to edge your borders, then this will make it so you don’t have to constantly deal with cutting grass back at the side. Grass ingresses into the soil, and over time, you may find that you end up losing out on the shape and the structure of your garden, which is the last thing you need. If you want to benefit yourself, save time by making sure that your border is constructed out of a solid material, such as brick or timber. If you can do this, then you will find it easier to not only keep the shape of your garden, but also to make sure that everything is as it should be.
Manicured Lawns
Mowing a lawn can take up a huge amount of your time. In addition to this, it can also be a pain to maintain. If you want to help yourself here, then you need to make sure that you water, feed, and aerate your grass. When you don’t want to do all of this, then you need to try to look into other alternatives instead. If you want to help yourself, then it may be that you create a wildflower meadow, or that you leave the grass to grow longer. When you do this, then you will find it easier to welcome wildlife into your garden. You will also find that it is easier for you to keep your garden nice and low-maintenance as well.
If you are really struggling, another good thing to do would be for you to hire a gardener. Hiring a gardener is one of the best things you can do if you don’t have the time or energy required to keep your garden looking good, and you would be surprised at how much it could help you to not only choose the right plants, but also to make sure that your space looks good all year round. If you can keep this in mind, it will help you a lot later down the line, so be mindful of that.
So as you can see, it’s so important that you keep your garden low-maintenance, and if you follow this guide, you will find it easier than ever to not only get the result you want, but also to make sure that you are happy with the layout you have. You may also be able to make your garden look better, which will add value to your home.

And enjoying sitting in the garden!
My partner Jeff gave me a new heavy duty trowel since I managed to lose my inexpensive trowel somewhere in my garden last year. I can hardly wait to start gardening, but right now I have 5 feet of snow on my lawn. It will probably be at least till April that I will see the grass again!

Oh terrible! I am so ready for spring and some warmer temps!
We technically only own three feet out from our house all the way around. I kinda cheated and created a large bed in the front yard. Every year, I try to add something new. I have started thinking and planning! I love flowers and colors and all of that! Thanks for the tips, Nancy!
