The sun is out, the sun is out! Spring has begun.

the sun is out

I feel so happy when the sun is finally out again! And warm enough to leave socks and sweaters in the closet. For me spring has begun now. No more freezing at night, at least I hope not. No wintercoats. And time to get the loungeset out and decorate the back garden. That really makes me very happy. I love it when all the candle’s, cuchions and all kinds of nice trinkets can come out again. It means eating al fresco and bbq-ing with friends and family. And bare feet and legs and arms, so much better then all the layers. It also means cycling. Yes, I am ready for spring!

*The featured photo is from last year. I love this style, simple but that’s how I love to wear it.

The sun is out, and could I enjoy it?

Last Friday, I had a visit from a specialist pulmonary nurse. I had a nice conversation with him. He couldn’t do anything for me right now, because I can still manage on my own,(with help from Gerben, friends and family that is) but it is nice to know that the lines of communication with him are short. Once again, I really count myself lucky to have such wonderful medical people around me. They genuinely want the best for me, and that is a comforting feeling.

And in the afternoon, I had a phone call with the pulmonologist. It is quite clear to me by now that the recovery is going to take quite a long time. I never really realize just how bad off I was again. On Saturday, I decided not to exercise, because I was so incredibly tired. And I still had so much to do. I had also already exercised three times that week, so that was okay for me. So on Saturday, I steamed clothes, did my hair, and did some small household chores. That was more than enough. And in the evening, a lovely quiet evening at home.

Easter and the rest of the week

Easter Sunday we went for brunch with the group of friends, and my sister and brother-in-law. How lovely to be all together again. And what a delicious buffet we had. In the afternoon, Gerben and I sat down to measure out some furniture and made some decisions. You have to make a choice sometime, after all. On Monday, Easter Monday, we have 2 of them, I first sat in the garden for an hour before my in-laws came for dinner. The sun was out. That is such a treat, isn’t it?

We ate asparagus the classic way(white ones). So with ham, boiled eggs, and hollandaise sauce. Gerben does the cooking then! Well, that’s great, isn’t it! Back to the gym on Tuesday, it took me a little less time to get there this time, and the workout went better than the week before. That gives me hope! On Wednesday, I had to go to the hospital first, to the cardiologist and have blood drawn. The transplant center wants me to have a catheterization done once a year, so I have to go to the cardiologist first.

After that, we went to the furniture store to make some decisions. We spent the whole afternoon there again, but we’ve figured it out! Now it’s just another three months before the new furniture arrives. Thursday morning, back to the gym, and in the afternoon, cycling to the nail stylist. It’s only a half-hour ride, but still a bit nerve-wracking. But it’s such a lovely trip, over the dike, along the water. And the sun was out, so I enjoyed it a lot. And another week has passed! I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

And now it is time to join a Fancy Friday Fashion party!

I am, and always have been, a true winter girl but this year, I’ve just about had enough of it lol! And I was so happy when the glorious sun came out the week before last! I sat bathing it in, reading books and it was wonderful. Sadly, this week we’ve had some cold and rain again (we’ve had such a wet winter it’s been awful!). We’ve even had to put the heating back on!! But when the sun does come out, it’s lovely and warm so it won’t be long. I hope your spring is glorious too, Nancy!

The sun is finally coming out here as well! Yay, Spring! I was going to sit outside yesterday and read a book but then I got distracted by a million things inside the house. That’s the way it goes sometimes! But I am excited for a nice weekend and walking round a tourist town with my husband. I really like your second Easter outfit. That skirt is amazing and very you! I am so glad that your medical team is so supportive and helpful. And how exciting that you finally made your furniture decisions! Which chairs did you end up getting?

Hi Nancy and so glad you are feeling a bit better. And I am also so pleased you have a lot of support and a good team looking after you. Btw, I adore that brown outfit: both the skirt and the top are lovely and very much suit you. It’s definitely my kind of skirt!

Take care and lots of love X

I feel so much better when the sun is shining! I don’t think I’ll be able to put away my winter coat and boots for good until mid May. It sounds like you had a lovely Easter! Can’t wait to see your new furniture!

I definitely feel so much happier when the sun is out. When we were in California after my father passed away in January, every day was sunny and beautiful. It made me appreciate sunny days much more. Anyway! I am happy that you enjoyed your Easter, and I am not ready to put away my winter clothes yet since it doesn’t get warm here until mid-late May! Have a wonderful weekend!

Oh that is late. And does summer last longer then? Or have you got a short summer?

Nancy, your Easter decorations are so sweet, and the food as usual, looks fabulous. Love your Easter outfits, especially that fabulous skirt. What a different lifestyle you have from me, that many of the places you need to go are close enough to cycle to. So convenient! I am very happy to hear that you are feeling better, and are confident in your care team. I know it is very hard to slow your pace to recover, when you normally are very active. Enjoy the sunshine while you have it. Thanks so much for hosting the link up and for sharing, and hope you have a lovely weekend!

Thanks ! Yes in the Netherlands distances are very different then in the US. If we drive by car here from north to south it takes 3 hours.

Nancy I’m so happy you are getting stronger and that the weather is sunny! I know you enjoy that. I love dining alfresco. Soon it will be too warm to do that here so I’m enjoying it while I can.
How nice that Gerben does the cooking! Your Easter weekend sounds lovely, I’m so happy for you that things are going well!

I am not going to say spring has sprung because every doggone time I say it, it snows! I cannot wait to get the furniture out and cleaned up and set out on the back porch. Then to decide flowers and such.

I’m so glad you have all these specialists to help you on your journey. I am also glad it was easier this week at the gym. I am going to get a pedicure this week, but I’m not going to cycle there. Someone would probably hit me…the drivers here are terrible! Thanks so much for the link up. I will do it tomorrow as my dumb lap top doesn’t “see” the link button.

Hi, Nancy – I do not think your skirt is frumpy; I prefer a longer length skirt myself and the satiny drape is modern. It goes well with the shoes. Anyway, everything always looks good on you. I love the idea of a boot with that skirt, though. You balance out your life so well! My husband and I work a lot and don’t have as much recreation as we should. I’m sending prayers for your upcoming surgery to go well and your healing be fast and perfect! Blessings – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

I can really feel your excitement for spring—it’s the best feeling when the sun finally comes out and we can swap layers for lighter pieces again. It all sounds so cozy too, from the garden setup to time with friends and family.

I agree with you that your Easter Monday outfit is fabulous. I love that skirt very much!
And oh my, that buffet is looking really scrumptious …
