Well, what do you call a pair of trousers like these anyway then unusual looking ones? Trousers that are tight from the knees? Such trousers that are slightly wide at the top and tight around the calves. Lantern trousers? Not really, because then they would only tighten at the very bottom. I can tell you that I am a fan of these kind a trousers and have been for a very long time. It wasn’t until I saw these trousers on Vinted that I remembered that.
I searched on Vinted for these trousers that are tight from the knees
When I was 16, or 17, I bought at Fooks, a very popular boutique in the Netherlands at the time, a pair of black trousers that were wide at the top and tight from the knee to the ankles. You could get a bit of a weird picture with it, but it would be the correct one, but I absolutely loved those trousers! It was a slightly shiny pair of trousers with cool pockets and I wore them with ankle boots. I’m so sorry I don’t have any pictures of it. Anyway, I only have a few pictures of myself from before I was 30 or so. But that is an other story.
I had a bit of a quirky style at that time and always wore outfits that no one wore. Didn’t wear that because I wanted to stand out, I just wore clothes that I loved. I have never ever seen anyone else in those unusual looking trousers. (well, I have, but with those people I don’t want anything to do with) I have no recollection whether people liked it or not, didn’t care at all, I liked them!
On the hunt for trousers that are tight from the knees
Years later, but really 20 years later or so, I found almost the same trousers but with a pinstripe and straps around the calves and at the zippers. So cool! I really worn out those trousers too. Every now and then I check Vinted to see if I can still find those trousers, they were from Superstar, also a Dutch brand, and then I came across these while searching for those pinstriped ones. Not quite the same because this one is three quarters, but the idea is the same.
And guess what???? I don’t like these tight around the knees trousers anymore…….It’s passed, it’s not me anymore, I got older…..So I put these back on Vinted again, but not before I showed you of course. I do like the navy and orange. And my sandals! And I also still love that jacket. But the trousers, mweh. I can hear Trinny (Woodall) bleating in the distance.
I would really appreciate it if you would follow me on Instagram.

Thanks Jennifer.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen that style before! Isn’t it funny how we hunt down things we loved when we were younger – and then find we’re over it? I’m always doing it
Author
Haha, yes weird right? It’s just the lovely trip down to memory lane I guess.
They do look good on you. I had a similar pair of denim jeans in this style many moons ago, late 80;’s probably. Kind of like horse riding pants – jodhpurs. I have learned not to have nostalgia for former clothes, it hardly ever works out for me.
Author
Yes indeed, horse riding pants! No I shouldn’t either, but hey, we learn all the time right?
This post has got me on a trip down memory lane Nancy. In my early teenage years I used to wear rockabilly full skirts and loved them. I might have to try and find one to try all these years later xx

Haha, just for the fun of it! Want to see that Laurie!
That is such a cute outfit but I completely understand how your tastes can change over time.

Thanks Joanne!
So in love with these cool trousers! I adore the contrast with the orange top and the jacket and sandals are icing on the cake. Thanks for the link up Nancy!

I would love to see pictures of you as a teenager! You have such a good sense of style Nancy, I have never seen this style before but you styled it so well. Your sandals look great!

I’ve never seen trousers like this before but great that you tried them again. Although you’re ready to leave them behind at least you gave the style one last chance. But actually you have great legs and wear them well!

Haha, thanks pamela, at least that is something! And a least they were very comfortable.
Nancy, you are such a creative stylist! I love the proportions of this outfit with the long jacket and cropped trousers. It’s such a unique look, and so chic! Even if you decide it is not you anymore, it is a great experiment! Enjoy your weekend and thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much Di! That makes my fashion heart jump!
I think that this is a cool look and I love the orange. I hope that you have a wonderful weekend! XO

Thank you Caroline!
These are really cute on you! But I get it. I’m that way with bell bottoms. I love how they look on others, but they really aren’t me anymore. Maybe I’ll feel differently and they will be again when I’m 80. 🤣
Author
Lol, that could be possible! Let’s try it again i 20 years!
Funny! Search search but then decide it’s not you anymore. My likes and dislikes have definitely changed. I love the color combo and you accessories are just perfect: those sandals and that belt! Love!

Yes indeed! Well, if we don’t try we don’t know right?
The trousers remind me of jodhpurs (that is such a weird word to type out) and are very interesting – but I totally get it that it’s not you anymore because our tastes totally do change over time. I had a lavender knickers suit when I was maybe 10 years old that I LOVED, but that’s not something that would work for me today, haha. (By knickers, I mean the knee-length trousers that are loose in the thigh and then are gathered in at the knee, like old-school golfing clothes….not underpants!) Fun to test them out, though! That jacket is completely amazing, and I love the orange + navy combo.

Hahah, oh trips down memorylane outfits wise is such fun! Thanks Sally!
I’ve no idea what these kind of trousers are called. They’re not really my thing but I do understand the nostalgia factor in wanting another pair of these. They don’t look too bad, even if you don’t like them anymore. I love the combination of navy and orange! Oh, and I don’t have many photos of myself between the ages of 14 and my early 30s. I’d probably cringe if I saw some of the things I wore, but still it would be fun! xxx
Author
I have just the opposite, a lot of clothing I wore back then I would love to wear now. A lot was selfmade of designed by myself.
I’ve never seen any like this before. You do wear them well though. I did have some trousers that finished just below the knees, they were called pedal pushers! Have a super weekend Nancy x Jacqui
Author
Pedal pushers? Lol. You British people have the best expressions!
They are fun pants and you wear them well – I really like the orange with them! It’s a shame you don’t enjoy wearing them any more but good you can resell them after giving them another try 🙂
Thank you for your link up 🙂

Indeed, it’s not so bad. Some styles are just not me anymore.
Oh, interesting! I’ve never seen that style before. I gotta say, it’s not my cup of tea, but you make it look great!

I have never seen pants like these except for those that people wear riding horses. But, your outfit is still pretty doggone fabulous! I love the orange and navy together. I really like the bow detail on your belt! Thanks for the link party!

I love the bright orange and navy together! The trousers are a bit like knickerbockers (such a funny word!). I think they look great on you but you have to feel good in them.

Hahaha, oh yes those Austrich trousers! Oh hell, now I most certainly don’t want to wear them anymore.
They’re called jodhpurs, Nancy – they’re characterized by full hips and knees with skinny calves. They originated as riding pants so that you have room to move while on a horse. The skinny bottom is so that you can easily wear boots over them without the fabric being too bulky.
I like the the blue and orange – and I joined you, with my own blue and orange outfit from last week. Thank you for the link-party!
Author
Funny that I never made the link. I see them more as trousers worn during the second world war by the Germans……
I think a bunch of people have already pointed this out, but I’d agree, I’d call them jodhpurs! They’re super fun on you!

What a cool look, Nancy! I love the orange and blue combination and your cool military style jacket. The trousers remind me of equestrian pants and I am wondering how they would look with tall riding boots. They look fabulous on you and I love this whole outfit! I am glad that you tried them again all these years later!
