Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge and myself started this series after we had hosted The Bad Buy Book for a year. Now we are ready for a new challenge! Every 15th of the month we show our Good Buy or Good-Bye item. And we want you to join!
What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book about?
It is a collage of outfits! You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye ( which is an item you are going to say good bye to). We will keep buying a Bad Buy from now and then, you know, it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted(needed) to buy something etc. But of course we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday, and every time you wear it you get that holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to send in. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide a theme for each month!
So let’s start with The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: My favorite pre loved item

I found this striped Vertigo silk dress in my local consignment shop about 5 years ago. I don’t wear it often, but I love the retro vibe of it and I am glad that I have it when I get in the mood to go vintage.

This Lily Pulitzer skirt was a fabulous find at Goodwill for $3.99! I love everything about it and it is my most prized pre-loved possession!

This is my contribution. These are three items that I have combined. Coincidentally all three by Dries van Noten, but scored separately for a few years. For me they are still the best in my wardrobe.

I have SO many items from secondhand stores. That’s exactly why I’m one of the co-hosts for the #thriftedchicstylechallenge on Instagram. Our next one is June 1-3 if anyone is interested (and there is always a prize).
This orange sweater (I attached two photos) has such an interesting hem in the back. It is a Cabi brand, so I had to snag it. Even the scarf and the pink top underneath are both from secondhand stores.

It would be hard for me to select just one pre-loved garment to feature so instead, I’ve got a head-to-toe ensemble made up from some of my favorite finds. The loafers were bought on Poshmark and the vest, tunic, skinny jeans, and necklace were purchased at thrift stores. I originally bought the necklace to be part of a Halloween costume but have found it to be fabulous piece to wear all the time.

I found this saddle bag for less than $6 in ‘like new’ condition at Goodwill. I love the casual style of the bag and this cognac color goes with almost anything in my closet. It was definitely a Good Buy.

My most amazing find would have to be my Midnight Navy Chanel Jacket. It was part of a suit, and the skirt was missing. I had the sleeves shortened, and shoulder pads smallerized. (Not a verb, but the best explanation!) I found it at one of those antique malls where vendors rent space. I say it was not just a good buy, but a Great Buy. The price was fabulous, and I get to own a piece of fashion history

The palazzo pants were a big departure from what I usually buy with the colorful bold print and style (I tend to wear skinny jeans not wide leg pants) but they sure are fun!!

My shorts are thrifted from Poshmark.
And finally my favorite pre loved item.
This is a King Louie dress and I love it because it’s a wrap dress, and it gives such a feminine feel. It’s a perfect length, also of the sleeves and the print is a bit graphic, which I love. But it’s one of my favorites, because I have a lot!

Yes I’ll bet you do! We have a shop nearby, 20 minutes bicycle ride, with all King Louie, and other retro brands, also cups and platters and accessories. It’s all new so very expensive. But a joy to see!

I have a lot of pre-owned clothes and it somehow ends up being heavily worn all the time. The only real example of the item worn rarely is my vintage silk dress: but it’s just too festive to wear everyday
