If you’ve been following me for a while, you will know that black is my favourite colour. But I mean black clothes. In my interior everything is white! No black to be seen. Weird huh. I wanted to show you this black outfit today because this outfit shows exactly how I feel most comfortable right now. I also wore it for The Thrifty Six On screen style icons series.
Black is my all time favourite colour
I’ve always liked black outfits. Although I also wear a lot of blue and green and occasionally pink. But I hardly ever wear bright colours. I sure like it, but not on me. It doesn’t suit me and I don’t feel comfortable in it. I also never wear black with a colour. Except with brown, green or blue, but then the dark variants. But I prefer to wear a monochrome outfit in black.
I used to hardly ever wear anything else but black. Now I quite like colourful dresses and skirts, but dark colours. I also always wear gold-coloured jewelry and I think it looks fabulous with black.
Wearing black even in summer
So for this outfit I wear a pre-loved black skirt with a very nice sweater from Zara with golden buttons. My leather jacket that I really love. Nothing beats real leather. I think these boots look a bit like Isabel Marant boots, if you take a quick look, lol, and they fit perfectly with these kind of skirts.
I never wear the bag, always have a special bag for my oxygen concentrator. But I had this one made when I started working in fashion. I was a big Victoria Beckham fan back then, and I don’t mean like in the Spice Girls. And she often wore the Birkin bag. So I had this bag custom made. Exactly the dimensions I wanted, the leather I wanted and gold fittings. I have used this bag for as long as I worked and have enjoyed it immensely. Unfortunately, it has been in the closet for 10 years now…… But this outfit is what I feel best in. All black and trust me, I wear this in the summer too!

I love a good all black look too… it is elegant, easy to put together and this outfit is fabulous! Oh, it must have felt good to pull that cherished bag out of the closet. I have items I’ve held onto that I don’t think I’ll ever part with, even if I don’t take them out often. That skirt is so pretty and I love the flow of it against the black jacket… and those boots go great with it too!

I love a good black outfit and you’ve nailed it here! Black is classic and easy to mix and match with, although I know you don’t like to pair it with bright colors. I have to say for me, although I like black, I get really tired of it especially through our very long, long and murky winters, then I can’t wait for all the bright and pastels by the time spring rolls around. Here is what I love most about this outfit, its the fact that you said this is what you feel most comfortable in. That’s a WIN! Wearing what works for us. What makes us feel good! It’s funny how what I am sharing today is a collection of my looks from the last two weeks and they are far from black with all of the color. I actually want to photograph an outfit with black as the basis and a topper, but it won’t be for a bit. Black does suit you, but I do love you in colors too.

I used to wear black almost exclusively when I was in my twenties, to the point that, when I exceptionally wore black culottes with white polka dots, people were surprised and remarked upon it. Now I hardly wear any black, and if I do, it’s got a print!
Black definitely suits you, and I think you should wear whatever you feel the most comfortable with. That leather jacket is a stunner! xxx

I think all black is a very classic and chic look and yet I rarely combine blacks as I get annoyed when the colors/shares of black are not quite the same. Somehow I have no problems when others mix blacks or shades of colors but I just don’t feel like I can pull it off myself.

I really can’t picture you in black!
I think you look stunning in all black, Nancy! You can really pull it off…rocker chick, rockstar chic, you name it! Can you put your concentrator in this custom made bag? My mom was on oxygen for several years before she died. She just wouldn’t go out with it if she could help it. It embarrassed her. I wish they’d had the smaller ones they have now. Her life became so narrow after that.

You and Shelbee both wear black so easily, so femininely. I never reach for black but now that my hair is a dark almost black and gray or silver?? mix, I might try black again. Sounds silly but with my brownish hair, I didn’t like black on me. I love every piece of your outfit. And that bag is spectacular. You need to keep it out and enjoy carrying it again. Love the skirt.
