I chose the theme for this month, ballerinas, for purely selfish reasons. I didn’t have them yet! Last year I already wanted to buy a pair of ballerinas and then it didn’t happen, don’t ask me why not. So when Shelbee came up with different topics, including ballerinas, I thought I’d take my chance. Because I still didn’t have ballet flats, as they are also called. So now I had a nice excuse to buy them. So I only have 1 pair and I styled them in different ways on our blogs!
Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge and myself started this series after we had hosted The Bad Buy Book for a year. Now we are ready for a new challenge! Every 15th of the month we show our Good Buy or Good-Bye item. And we want you to join!
What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book about?
It is a collage of outfits! You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye ( which is an item you are going to say good bye to). We will keep buying a Bad Buy from now and then, you know, it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted(needed) to buy something etc. But of course we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday, and every time you wear it you get that holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to send in. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide a theme for each month!
So let’s start with The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Ballerinas!
First my dear blogging friend and co-host Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge

I bought these adorable green embroidered ballet flats from some cheap online retailer about 5 or 6 years ago. While they aren’t the most comfortable footwear ever, their cuteness outweighs their discomfort! So still a Good Buy. If I had bought a half size bigger, they would be much better!
Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style

Here are a pair of ballerina-like flats that I’ve had for over 10 years. I call that a Good buy! They were an expensive pair of buggers, yet I’ve certainly gotten my money’s worth since I’ve had them so long.
Yay for styles returning!!
Jacqui of Mummabstylish

I’ve had these ballet flats for over 5 years and it’d been a while since I last wore them. Sadly, I don’t know why. That all changed last month when I paired them with a black blazer and jeans look.
Sally of Within a World of my own

My thrifted purple Target flats are a Good Buy with 29 wears and a cost per wear of $0.18. They are still in very good condition.

And here are my ballerinas

I actually think ballerinas only look nice under a kind of Parisian chic style. So I hope the other ladies can inspire me how to wear them even more. But you know I like a simple style. I think this is a lovely outfit. Ideal for a holiday or a lunch with friends. Simple, yet very stylish. Since this is the first time I am wearing these ballerinas, I don’t know yet if they are a Good Buy or a Good-Bye, but I already love them, so….they also come in green……
May’s theme will be: Sheer!
And now hop over to Shelbee’s blog to see what the other fashion bloggers are wearing!
Send your photo with a few sentences if it is a Good Buy or a Good-Bye and we will put you in the spotlights! Send it please before the 10th of each month to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to batennancy@gmail.com
By joining The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, you agree to receive a monthly reminder email for next month!

Thank you Melody!
I love the “Parisian” way you styled those ballerinas!
I’ve only got two pairs – one of which was gifted by a late friend of mine – but I’m only wearing them as a kind of slippers when I’m on holiday … wouldn’t have made for the greatest contribution 🙂 xxx

Haha, thanks anyway!
Your outfit def has Paris vibes, which I love with the striped shirt and beautiful dress. So many other ideas with the ballet flats too!

They aren’t the most comfortable shoe indeed Marsha!
Ballerinas are comfortable footwears. I think everyone should own a pair.

I now do,lol.
I love the look of ballet flats, but as many of your participants noted, they are not very comfortable, as they often don’t have any support in them.
My yellow patent leather Karl Lagerfelds are still holding on after 4+ years.

Yes they are perfect sitting shoes, nothing else really.
I was always a heel girl until recently. I am getting rid of my highest heels and need to start replacing them with flats. It seems everyone has a good buy pair of ballerinas. And I like them all very much. I was a ballerina for several seasons of life and maybe that is why my feet hurt so much now. Glad to know ballerinas are still or back in style.

I also as a heel girl. Still feel a bit sad that I can’t wear them anymore.
I don’t own a pair of ballerina flats but all of these outfits sure are pretty! I love the variety of styles too!

Why do all the ballet shoes have to be so darn cute yet so darn uncomfortable?! This was a fun theme, for sure!
