I wish you all a Happy New Year with lots of happiness and good health. And I want to thank you for visiting my blog and for your support. I love blogging, and have been for 10 years, but without you, it wouldn’t be much fun. Shall we take a look at my holiday week? I can tell you: I had a blast!
Happy New Year, but how was the last week of the old one
- A little buffet at Christmas day with my in-laws.
- Gerben in the kitchen at my brother in -laws house, preparing dinner.
- My family at the Christmas table.
On Christmas Eve the 24th, it’s usually just the two of us. We prepare a delicious dinner, and this time we made tapas. We also unwrapped our Christmas presents (a lot of bling bling for me!). We normally do that at Christmas day’s breakfast, but we didn’t have time for that. On the first Christmas Day, we had a long breakfast with Christmas bread, orange juice etc. Then we went to the in-laws’ house. The men always go into the kitchen and we women wait until it is ready, perfect right! It was so nice to be together with almost the whole family again. And my in-laws, 87 and 89, loved it!
My sister, brother-in-law, and my father’s wife came over on Boxing Day (which is second Christmas day in the Netherlands). We had put together a lovely menu, and I can honestly say it was a huge success. Afterwards, I’m also glad when everything’s tidied up and we’re relaxing on the couch, tired and satisfied. Two beautiful days with the family!
On to 2026!
- I wore this dress on Christmas day at home.
- Our house in Christmas lights. We also have lights in the garden, but it doesn’t look good on photo.
- My outfit on second Christmas day.
We had no plans for the weekend. We just hung around the house and worked out. But above all, we relaxed completely; nothing is mandatory, anything is allowed. I always feel the need to do things, but Gerben is a bit, how do I say it, at the end of his Latin. Do you then know what I mean?
On Monday we went for a walk, me in the wheelchair, of course. It was cold and very foggy, but it was nice to get some fresh air. On Tuesday, I went to the physiotherapist to work out. But it was so cold there that it was really not nice. That evening, we had a friend’s birthday party. It was fun to be with friends together!
On New Year’s Eve, I made snacks for the evening. And in the evening celebrated New Year’s Eve with friends at our house. I’m happy to be entering a new year, although that doesn’t mean anything, of course. But we’ve had quite a tough year. We’ve also had a lot to be thankful for, you know! I’m on the transplant list, which is, of course, a chance to live longer and better. And we’ve had lots of fun outings. And we haven’t lost anyone this year! But now, full of anticipation and positivity, we’re looking forward to a happy new year. And may spring come soon…brrrr…
- Different boots then the featured photo. But I love this outfit.
- In the National Park with fog.
- Sunday’s outfit. I waited to long to buy the matching blazer…..now it’s sold out….

Happy New Year Tina!
Sounds like a lovely Christmas celebration. Everyone but me got sick with either the flu or a cold, but we still managed to enjoy it all. We went to church, we ate, we had time with family but we also took it easy and relaxed without schedule. My husband was off for about 10 days so it was nice to have him around.

Oh gosh! But I am glad you still could enjoy it!
Sounds like a fun and relaxing festive time. I’m with Gerben, it’s good to do nothing after entertaining over Christmas! Mind you I did get a bit bored and went to an art exhibition on New Year’s Eve. Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year
