Would you wear a print on a floral skirt?

No, not me of course! I’m not there yet! But would you? I have seen a lot of you mixing prints and styles together and it’s often amazing. I did it in my blogging life once here and I thought it looked very well. In fact, I have worn this many times on other skirts. But let’s take this skirt for eample. I personally feel that if you wear a top in a color that reflects also in the skirt, then it enchances the colors and the print of the skirt. Well I must say that I very much love order. All in one convenient place, all clear, tidy. You know what I mean? So to wear any other color that is not in the skirt, or to add a print feels messy. Okay, are there already some of you who think: she’s not in her right mind! Probably. I found here a nice explanation of how to mix prints. Now I think to myself, okay, maybe a striped sweater? Here are a few ideas of mixing prints.

But I really want to hear from you what you think I should wear on this skirt. Because I have quite a bit of these skirts, and I am really fond of them, but I also think it should be more exciting. I show you another time what I have done with your tips and how I wear the skirt now.

How did I wear my floral skirt.

Well, plain, borring! This is an outfit that I wear often, or something simular, as we go for a walk. Going for a walk means for us that Gerben is walking and I am in the wheelchair. And do you know what is really ridiculous? I don’t want to look stylish while sitting in the weelchair. It feels to me like it’s not appropriate or something like that. I hate it because I want to look stylish! I’m afraid I have to work on that. But well, walking and don’t want to look stylish…I said years ago, when I have to be in a wheelchair I can finally wear high heels again because I then don’t have to walk anyway. Yeah, see what I am wearing!

I love these wide floral scuba midi skirts. I love the colors and the print and scuba is wonderful. It’s so light and it doesn’t wrinkle. I wear a warm sweater, because it was freezing here, with ruffled sleeves and boots with a flat heel. So these are boots that I wear when I do my groceries and it’s raining or there is snow or something like that. And when I am in the weelchair. I wear an elastic belt with tulle flowers on it. In itself, if you think the boots away, ther is nothing wrong with the outfit, but just as I said, it can be more exciting. Of course with an heeled ankle boot, or wedges, but let me know what you think I should wear on a skirt like this!

Of course you should be stylish when you’re in your wheelchair—-because you personality is stylish!
And I think it’d be fun to try a black & white striped shirt with this skirt. I still gravitate towards a solid with a print, but I’m trying very hard to push myself out of always wearing the same thing (it’s not easy!!)

    • February 21, 2017 / 12:17 pm

I know Jodie! I have the same problem. But I think a striped tee is a great idea! Thank you.

What a cute look. The skirt is adorable. I’d only wear solid colors with this print.

    • February 21, 2017 / 12:19 pm

Thank you! I think solid colors are always great with prints, but I want to step out my comfort zone!Lol.

I actually like this outfit as it is. I’m a bit like you: I like a strealined tidy look. And mixing prints can look amazing on some women, but I prefer to keep things simple. An outfit should match the personality, and I think you know what suits you. However, this skirt with colour (instead of black) would look amazing…

    • February 21, 2017 / 4:10 pm

I wil try an orange top when it’s warmer. Thank you Tiina!

      Thank you very much dear!

  9. February 22, 2017 / 6:32 pm

Love your skirt! I do like mixing print but they have to be different in size and scale, one being more of the statement piece and the other one a more subtle print. You look fab!

    • February 22, 2017 / 7:23 pm

      Thank you very much Nora!

  10. February 22, 2017 / 7:18 pm

That is a great skirt! When you start feeling like being a little more daring with pattern mixing I would try a black and white stripe…with black as the base. I think it would look adorable.

    • February 24, 2017 / 12:52 pm

Thank you, I will and polka dots perhaps too!

    • February 22, 2017 / 8:47 pm

      Thank you Vanessa!

  11. February 23, 2017 / 11:40 am

I’m with you Nancy on not mixing print with florals. I only do it with polka dots or stripes if the two items are in the same colour more or less. The outfit looks great on you, it’s a lovely skirt. For spring you could echo some of the colors in the skirt with shoes or a top.

    • February 23, 2017 / 5:58 pm

Thank you Gail! Yes,I already have a orange to in mind

  12. February 23, 2017 / 4:34 pm

I do like the way you styled this, Nancy, and think it is quite chic. Although, I would certainly try a nice stripe with it, as well. If I am not in the mood for pattern mixing, I try playing around with bringing in a couple of other colors from the skirt for a bolder look. It’s always fun to see just how differently you can transform one item.

    • February 23, 2017 / 5:58 pm

Yes I love that too. Not only with colours but also with styles!

    • February 23, 2017 / 7:32 pm

Thank you Jess! Yes, I have to buy a striped tee and wear it with the skirt! But of course I want the stripes to be in the same color as the skirt! And of course that doesn t exist probably!

I think that you’ve styled the skirt very nicely, Nancy – the belt is a great addition. That skirt is very eye-catching, and so it is a bit more challenging in my opinion for mixing another print with it. And so, I would stick with something a bit more subdued, like maybe small polka dots. I believe that mixing prints has to be done in person. To me, it’s kind of like painting. But I would start with something a little less bold, maybe bringing out more subtle colors, like the brown of one of the flowers. It could be a disaster in real life, but I imagine something in that brown with small polka dots or stripes. It seems like a fun challenge! I’d love to see your results.

Polka Dots is an option! Thank you, that is a great idea!

  14. February 23, 2017 / 8:23 pm

That’s a beautiful skirt! It looks fabulous with black! But I think you could also have some fun and try some pattern mixing. It could be a fun little project… With how many patterns can you wear the skirt?

And, yes, you should be your stylish, fabulous self when you are in the wheelchair! It’s who you are!

    • February 24, 2017 / 9:29 am

You are right about the last part, but I think the wheelchair does not feel like me yet. I defenitely will try several prints on the skirt.

    • February 24, 2017 / 9:33 am

      What did you say?

  15. February 26, 2017 / 11:22 pm

I love the skirt and how you’ve styled it. The belt is fab! I like the mix of stripes and floral print, but another option is a black blouse with polka dots in one of the colours of the skirt. Another floral print could work too if the colour palette is similar.

Yes I think stripes and polka dots are an option! Thank you for thinking with me
