Oh dear, it’s almost November already. That is unbelievable! Before we know it, we’ll be drinking mulled wine at a Christmas party. Thought I’d give you a little update on some of the things in my life. This has been a weird year for me. Until the end of September I struggled with problems I had because of my lungs. It was a very stressful time and very hard. Also mentally. For me it feels like I just waisted half a year, not really been there. And I hate to waist my time. But sometimes you just have to endure things right.
Update on things in my life
At the beginning of the year I was hospitalized three times and it took me a long time to recover from that. But that’s finally over. Not that my lung problems are gone, I just have a progressive disease, but I feel like I felt before the hospital admissions. And I’m very happy about that.
I have also been using hormones for menopause for a few months now. What a difference! Unfortunately I don’t notice anything about my hair and skin, I used hormones before for a month and my hair went really curly and shiny and my skin looked very healthy, but the hot flashes are as good as gone. And I sleep like an ox! Not normal! I sleep like five hours straight without waking up. And when I wake up, I go back to sleep very soon.
What else is going on in my life
I am also less and less active on Instagram. I really liked IG, until the Reels started. Just don’t have the energy to deal with that and I saw my likes and followers drop. My account was on the same number of followers for 5 months while gaining a lot of new ones. The fun is gone for me.(perhaps if you all will follow me I get the fun back, lol) But I do like to see videos of others so I stay on IG but not very active. Just as I feel lik it. But I always get a lot of inspiration by others and I just love that. And there are a lot of women that I just love to follow.
While I have more and more new viewers on the blog! And I actually enjoy blogging the most! So I’m going to pay a little more attention to that. Perhaps another collaboration with other bloggers, because Stylish Monday stopped sadly.
I wanted to change my header for a while and I did that a few weeks ago. And I changed the colour over all. I am very happy that I enjoy blogging again, because there were a few months where I was just so focussed on IG. But blogging is and stays my passion. So much for my update on things in my life !
I am wearing a new black skirt, hey there is always someting different about a new black skirt okay….. Looove the button detail. It looks a bit like this skirt, but that one was torn when I received it. Didn’t notice that after the shoot. This one is also a bit of a bouclé. And better made, I checked!
I would really appreciate it if you would follow me on Instagram.
My favourite of last week is: Suzy of The Grey Brunette

Love the buttons on your skirt and the snaffle on the loafers! Glad to hear you’re feeling a bit better. I’d be up for a new blog challenge. Have a good weekend
Author
Thank you very much Gail! What kind of challenge are you thinking of?
I’m so glad you’re feeling better. Sweet buttons on the black. Happy Weekend

Thak you very much Andrea!
Nancy, I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better. You are such an active person so I can only imagine how hard it is when you aren’t feeling well for months on end. Damn progressive disease! I want to sleep like an ox too – gosh some nights are just miserable. I take progesterone and it helps a bit, I am still perimenopausal so maybe that’s why.
I can relate about IG – I am starting to hate it. The reels are killing me and what used to be fun is now anything but. I am so happy you are enjoying blogging again, this seems much more personal and better to connect.
xo,

Indeed, I agree on the personal and connecting thing. It feels way much better!
I’m sorry that the majority of this year was so tough on you health-wise, Nancy, but I’m so pleased to hear that you’re feeling better now, and the hormones you’re taking are making life easier too!
Thank you so much for featuring me, btw.
Big hugs, and have a fab weekend!

My pleasure Suzy! And thank you.
I’m glad you are feeling better. I feel the same way about IG reels. I try to do them as much as I can, but I am focusing more on my blog than IG. Love the fun buttons on your skirt! Such a fabulous look!

I like that button detail on the skirt. So glad to hear you are feeling better and that the hormones are working for you.

Thank you very much Joanne!
So glad to hear that you are feeling so much better, you certainly have had a tough time.
I know exactly what you mean about IG , not a fan of reels either. I have made many contacts there and several people that used to blog now only do IG so I use it to keep in touch.
I love the skirt with its mixed buttons and the boots are wonderful. Have a good weekend. Many thanks for hosting.
Author
Indeed, a lot of bloggers stopped their blog for that. I will never do that, my bvlog is precious to me!
I’m so glad that you are feeling better Nancy! I wish I could take hormones for my perimenopause issues. I can’t because of the cancer risk in my family. I don’t blame you for chilling out on IG. It is stressful and not fun anymore. I am trying to focus on my blog as well. This skirt is so chic and loving the cool buttons! Thanks for the link up!

Nancy, this new black skirt is super cool! Those mismatched gold buttons are so fun and I love the boots with the gold chains paired with it! I did notice the new blog look and it is fabulous! I know you had a really rough year but I am so happy that things are getting back to good for you. Speaking of Christmas, we got our first Christmas party invitation already! Yikes. I am afraid November may fly by as quickly as October did! Have a wonderful weekend, my beautiful friend.

Haha, that is really quick! I know, before we know it it is Christmas and I am loving it!
I am so happy to hear that you are feeling better. I know that you like to stay active and busy so I can only imagine how frustrating that was for you. I have not done a reel in months and I honestly don’t really want to do them. I still enjoy Instagram, but sometimes it is not fun. I also LOVE your outfit and I hope that you have a wonderful weekend! XO

Thank you very much Di!
Nancy, as always you look so chic in black! Love your new skirt with the fun and whimsical buttons, and the way you styled it with complementing gold accents. So glad to hear you are feeling better! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend.

It’s good to know your feeling better. Being sick in anyway is never easy. I think Instagram can still be fun. The reels are for a certain kind of person I think. The only thing I noticed is people keep doing it daily. It makes you wonder how they have so much time to do that. I think true followers who love what others post and talk about always stay loyal. If they don’t then they weren’t true to begin with. I adore this outfit it’s so fun for fall one off my favourite time of year. And the jackets stunning too. I hope your having a great weekend.

Thank you very much Heather. I agree on the time it takes, it takes me hours to create a video and then it doen’t even look good!
Glad you have been feeling better. I really enjoy my blogging and lately having some writing material about my travel has been a lot of fun. I love following along some gals lives on IG but do not look much at my numbers there: I spend a lot of time deleting/blocking guys.

I’m sorry that you feel like you’ve wasted half a year. Wasted time is always a frustrating thing to deal with, whatever the reason, but especially so when it involves ill health. I’m glad to read you’re feeling like your old, pre-op, self again.
I’m hearing you on Instagram! While I do not really care about the number of followers I have or haven’t got, I absolutely hate the reels, 90% of which are just plain boring or stupid anyway, and make me scroll through my feed at great speed, which I’m sure makes me miss some of the good stuff too. Anyway, rant over 🙂
Your skirt is a stunner, I’m loving the button detail! xxx
Author
Indeed Ann, most are so stupid. And I really hate it when they speed the video up! So weird….
I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been so sick this year, Nancy!! Glad to hear that you are doing better! I know what you mean though – I hate feeling like I’m wasting time too. I’ve found that with health issues, it’s important to just take it a day at a time (as frustrating as it can seem). I also agree with Instagram. I was not a fan of reels but I’ve started to enjoy them more as it tests my creativity. The engagement has definitely plummeted. It bothered me for a LONG time but now… I just don’t care. It’s out of my hands and I’m trying to turn it into a positive. I’ve been focusing more on other platforms including the blog but really, the secret is just to not care anymore and have fun!! You may not grow as quickly but at least it’s not taking a toll on your mental health 🙂

Such true words Lizzie! Not cre anymore is the secret! Thank you very much for your comment!
Those buttons are super cool on the skirt. That gives me some ideas….
It’s good to concentrate more on the blog since you own it. Instagram is a beast of it’s own, ugh, But it’s nice to get inspiration there and meet other women!!

So glad you’re feeling better!! I feel the same way as you do about IG and the reels. It’s become so much work, and for little return. Blogging and creating is where my heart truly is, and when I’m happiest. Love what you’ve done with the blog! Looking forward to your future collab’s.

Thank you very much, I appreciate that a lot!
I’m so sorry you have the health problems you do. You are amazing and accomplish so much – more than so many in perfect health accomplish. I can understand not jumping on the reel band wagon. For now they are the latest and greatest thing but after the holidays, who knows what might come along. There’s always the next thing. If you enjoy blogging, then I agree, put your energy into doing that and continuing to grow your blog.
This skirt and sweater combo are very cute. And seem like the perfect look to pack for traveling. I would think they would travel well. And be easy to wear.
Author
I think they would travel well indeed! No wrinkling, great idea, I might wear it in two weeks on our way to the UK.
I’m glad you are feeling back to yourself finally after those hospitalizations earlier in the year. That black skirt you have is super cute! I really like the different buttons on it!
Author
Thanks Laura! Great details right, I am a sucker for golden buttons.
Nancy, I had no idea you were in the hospital earlier this year. So sorry to hear that, but glad that you’re on the mend. I am also with you on IG—I find it exhausting, so I’ve pivoted to concentrating on my blog. Glad you’ve come to the same conclusion 😉

And blogging is so much more fun isn’t it!
I’m glad your year is ending on a much better note than the beginning. My mom had COPD for years so I’m a little familiar with lung diseases. They do take such a toll on your every day life. I cannot believe how much you are able to produce with these issues. I agree with you on Instagram. It is not my favorite, but it is the one that most retailers want you to use. I am finishing up an agreement (thank goodness) so I’ll be posting a little less. I never have gotten into the reels, but sometimes, just for the heck of it, I’ll make one! I already do follow you and think you do a wonderful job! Thanks for the link party!

Thanks Marsha, my disease is simular to COPD. So you know what it is. Yeah, I make a reel when I shoot for outfits but not of everyday outfits. That would take up to much of my time.
You have had quite the year! I don’t think people realize how much energy it takes to deal with a chronic health condition. I’m with you about Instagram. I didn’t enjoy it as much when I felt the pressure to do reels. And all the men who think it’s a dating site. I deactivated my account.
Your outfit is very smart. Elegant, but edgy. And I agree with you about the button detail on the skirt.
As far as subscription to my blog, I put the subscribe button at the end of the post. I tried to put it in the main body of my blog, but it just didn’t fit. I don’t yet know whether it works or not. I haven’t written another post yet to see if I get a notification. So if you would like to try subscribing, I would appreciate it.

So glad that you’re feeling better now Nancy. I love the gold buttons on the skirt and your super stylish loafers. I feel the same way about IG, my engagement and likes have dropped a lot. Followers come and go (mostly weird men) without any real growth. I can’t be bothered to make reels every day, too much to do! Like you, I prefer to work on my blog instead.

Nancy this skirt is very special about these different buttons. 💕 IG is not my favorite. I love blogging and reading blogs. I can understand what you mean.
have a nice day!

Blogging is so much more fun right! Thanks Tina.
Suzy looks fantastic and so do you. Black is just the perfect color on you. I really enjoy IG but would never put all my eggs in one basket. And you and me met thru our blogs and this is just great. All the best Nancy. xo

Thank you very much Sabina.
Aw, you’ve been through a lot this year, Nancy. I’ve noticed that my blog has pretty much stayed the same for years – I get around 300-400 views per post, which I’m happy with. I feel like it’s easier to engage with people one-on-one this way.
Love your new skirt – those gold buttons are so luxe!
Author
Yes me too, I am very happy with my blog, especially with the people engaged.
HI Nancy!
I like how your blog turned out. Great color too- a calming sage. I am sorry to hear that you were in the hospirtal that much early on.. I remember you posting on IG. I am now making it to this post due to my health condition . ugh it’s tiring! Glad things are better for you. You look great and those gold buttons are very nice on the skirt! Love the boots too. IG is kind of a love/hate relationship for me, it sucks up alot of time! Initially I wanted to blog, so that is still my fav too.
