About a tweed mini skirt….but then not!

I wanted to talk about wearing a tweed mini skirt. But….something happened along the way. And now I want to talk about that! And I bought another miniskirt, so I will talk about mini skirts when I show you my second one.

I want to talk about a bad collaboration. I have to get this of my chest otherwise I can get so pissed of by this. And this is my blog afther all, so I will write what I want! So if you don’t feel like swallowing( is that really the right translation?), then scroll straight down to the linkup!

My first bad collaboration experience!

Okay, so when a new brand contacts me about a collaboration, I will check their site and email them with my rules for collaboration. This brand agreed and emailed me with an amount for which I could choose a dress from their site. I told them the amount was too low and they told me they did not get any higher than that amount for a first collaboration, because bloggers often do not write a second post when they have received their items, so they said. I mailed back that I work with several brands on a regular basis, so I can be trusted. They then agreed to my amount. Afther I wrote the wishlist, I contacted them because I had a hard time finding the right size. The only mail I got back was: I will pick a dress for you….. Okay, you don’t have my adress yet, will you let me know which dress you choose etc. I thought. Afther a few days I mailed again because I didn’t hear anything back.

I will never work with this brand again!

So now I have sent them four emails! I don’t get any emails back from them. The last one I sent was not friendly. I was so pissed of! Really! You put time, hard work and energy in making a wishlist, sort out which dresses I really like to show you and then this? No no no, not with me darling!

So if you ever are contacted by the company I wrote a wishlist for here, ,remember this post! Perhaps there are enough bloggers that had a great experience with this brand, I don’t give a shit, I had a lousy one!

So let’s continue with something fun! (because it is of my chest now!) My tweed mini skirt and the Fancy Friday linkup party! Enjoy your weekend!

It is sad when companies don’t live up to what they promise. I’m glad you’ve warned us about them Nancy!!
But let’s talk about how great you look in this tweed skirt!! It fits you perfectly, and I love the pink sweater with it!!

    • December 1, 2017 / 9:05 am

Thank you Jodie! This look is so different from what I normally wear, so I am glad you like it!

  2. December 1, 2017 / 12:23 am

I worked with one brand last year that showed photos of the item and sent the same design but crap finsh and different material! It was completely different! I did state that I wasn’t happy in the post. They never emailed me again! Shame! xx

    • December 1, 2017 / 9:07 am

Yes it is! We put a lot of work time and energy in what we publish! So we also want to be treated with respect don t we!

  3. December 1, 2017 / 12:28 am

You look fabulous. This outfit suits you. Thank you for the cautionary tale about a company that seems less than straightforward. I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.

    • December 1, 2017 / 9:07 am

Thank you Rena! I hope you have a fantastic weekend too!

  4. December 1, 2017 / 12:40 am

Nancy, first of all, you look amazing in this tweed mini skirt! Those legs, my friend, are fabulous. Keep showing those beauties off! And I love this pink on you, too. So said company, I have also collaborated with. I wrote the wish list and had a hard time finding my size in a dress that was suitable to my taste. I found ONE and emailed them my choice. But they responded quickly that it was out of stock and sent me the image of another dress in the same color. A dress that was not in the original selection of choices, but one that I liked very much. Not necessarily one that I would have chosen, but I always like a good style challenge! It hasn’t arrived yet, so stay tuned to see how this concludes for me! I will be posting about it as soon as it is here!

    • December 1, 2017 / 9:09 am

Oh I am very curious how that collab will work out for you!

  5. December 1, 2017 / 7:47 am

I love the color of your shirt, and also the print of your skirt. The combination is beautiful and delicate and the skirt looks fantastic on you.

    • December 1, 2017 / 9:09 am

      Thank you very much Josep!

  6. December 1, 2017 / 8:28 am

Oh god on you for naming and shaming them! some companies can be an absolute nightmare! i hope this hasn’t put you off ,, there are some great companies out there too i promise.
And i love this look.. i think it may be my favourite yet, i want it all ,the jumper, boots and skirt! Gorgeous!

    • December 1, 2017 / 9:11 am

Thank you dear Rachel! I have never experienced a bad collab. Normally the contacts are very good!

You look amazing in pink Nancy, so fabulous.
    Enjoy your Weekend!

    • December 1, 2017 / 9:11 am

Thank you Tina! Have a fantastic weekend!

  8. December 1, 2017 / 10:42 am

Exactly the sort of outfit I would wear! I love a patterned or tweed skirt with a brightly coloured jumper. It’s a shame about the bad collaboration experience. Some PR people are frankly poor at their job! And I speak as someone who worked in PR a few years ago.

    • December 1, 2017 / 1:17 pm

Ha ha, this one was really poor. And I don’t need to put up with that sort behaviour. Thanks Gail!

  9. December 1, 2017 / 11:33 am

Sorry you had to go through such a shit experience, Nancy!
I love your outfit today – that pink is perfect on you and the skirt is so pretty. LOVE the boots!
    Suzy xx

    • December 1, 2017 / 1:17 pm

The boots are so fantastic! They are warm comfortable and stylish! Thanks Suzy!

  10. December 1, 2017 / 12:14 pm

I’m a big believer in the “It’s your blog so say what you want” school of thought. Good for you for calling them out and holding them accountable. The few times that I have bad experiences I have written about them. If they behave unprofessionally people need to know about it!
Bright pink is a beautiful color on you…it’s gorgeous with your hair!

    • December 1, 2017 / 1:20 pm

Thank you! I’m glad you agree because we Dutch people can be rude, but I want some respect from brands I work with. It takes a lot of time energy to write a post. And we, it counts for all bloggers, don’t have to put up with that shit.

  11. December 1, 2017 / 12:41 pm

Man, that’s too bad they gave you the run around! Glad you vented! I recently was contacted by two companies and the whole thing makes me a little nervous, collaborations with brands are a little scary to me!
You, however, look gorgeous in pink and I love that skirt!

    • December 1, 2017 / 1:21 pm

      Thank you very much Kellyann!

    • December 1, 2017 / 1:21 pm

      Thanks Cheryl!

    • December 1, 2017 / 2:11 pm

Yes you are absolutely right my friend! Thank you Katherine!

  12. December 1, 2017 / 1:26 pm

Wauw! Wat staat dit rokje leuk met roze erop. Love it!

  13. December 1, 2017 / 1:54 pm

Awww, Nancy, that’s terrible. I read your post and was equally upset about what happened. You deserve better treatment than that. I am glad you just let it out and let the bad juju roll off your back. Now, let’s talk about your skirt and how cute it looks on you! It’s such a great skirt with the tweed detailing and the colors are just amazing. I love how you wore a pink top to really bring out the colors on your skirt. Happy Friday!

    • December 1, 2017 / 2:11 pm

      Thank you very much Maureen!

  14. December 1, 2017 / 2:22 pm

I have had so many companies contact me and not hold up their end of the bargain. I am fairly skeptical most of the time when someone does contact me. Thanks for the heads up.

    • December 1, 2017 / 4:14 pm

      Really? That is bad!

  15. December 1, 2017 / 2:46 pm

Oh dear! How frustrating. Looking fab in tweed though x

    • December 1, 2017 / 4:14 pm

      Thank you!

  16. December 1, 2017 / 3:13 pm

Looking fabulous as always! Love the skirt Nancy. 🙂

    • December 1, 2017 / 4:15 pm

      Thank you Chrissy!

  17. December 1, 2017 / 3:28 pm

you look amazing!!! Love the skirt!!

    • December 1, 2017 / 4:15 pm

      Thanks Stephanie!

    • December 1, 2017 / 4:15 pm

      Thank you Elise!

  18. December 1, 2017 / 4:01 pm

Well that whole experience sounded damn frustrating. Another reason I’m kind of glad I don’t really do that on my blog. In the eleven years I’ve been blogging I think I’ve done five collaborations in total.

I’m happy to just promote my own store now : ) The buck stops with me.

Love the way you’ve styled this and the hot pink.

    • December 1, 2017 / 4:17 pm

Thank you very much! I can imagine you only want to promote your own store! And what a wonderfull store that is!

  19. December 1, 2017 / 4:12 pm

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience, Nancy. Thanks for sharing your story so the rest of us will be on the lookout. Thankfully I have only had one bad collaboration experience. At first sounded amazing with a year long contract, but the rep was such a jerk I ended it before it ever really began.

You look lovely in this bright pink and pretty tweed skirt. The colors are beautiful and I like the bit of fringe.

    • December 1, 2017 / 4:17 pm

      Thank you Jennie!

  20. December 1, 2017 / 4:14 pm

I have had a few bad collaboration experiences myself that I decided it just wasn’t worth the headache to me anymore and I wasn’t going to do collaborations. I simply enjoy blogging for blogging sake. LOVE this outfit. That skirt is so cute!

    • December 1, 2017 / 4:18 pm

      Thank you Amy!

  21. December 1, 2017 / 4:16 pm

What a bummer! It is refreshing when a brand is easy to work with, and so frustrating when they are not. I’m sorry you had a bad experience!I really adore your skirt!

  22. December 1, 2017 / 4:27 pm

I’ve heard of other bloggers not having a good time with this brand. I wrote a wishlist for a different company and never received the dress I chose. It’s annoying but I’ve learned my lesson, now I’m much more careful who I work with. On a brighter note, I love your tweed skirt and pink jumper, you look fabulous Nancy!

Ha ha, thank you Emma! Enjoy your weekend.

    • December 1, 2017 / 8:09 pm

      Thank you Edwige!

    • December 1, 2017 / 8:10 pm

      Thanks Gemna!

  23. December 1, 2017 / 5:02 pm

I do very very few collaborations for this reason. I receive at least 5 emails a week usually about collabs and I want to enjoy blogging for fun and ‘with no rules’ a little more than that, especially these days when I am so busy. I had never heard of that brand but it sounds sketchy. Sorry you wasted time with them.

Fashion wise I love that we totally twinned with our bright pink sweaters and patterned thick mini skirts – perfect for the holiday season. Your skirt is so cute!!

    • December 1, 2017 / 8:13 pm

Yes isn’t that so funny Ada! What is it what they say: great minds think alike?

  24. December 1, 2017 / 5:15 pm

This is the cutest tweed skirt, and I love it paired with the pink sweater. I’m sorry you had such a bad experience. It’s horrible that brands take advantage of bloggers when we work so hard!

    • December 1, 2017 / 8:14 pm

      Thank you Rachael!

    • December 1, 2017 / 8:14 pm

      Thanks Jess!

    • December 1, 2017 / 8:15 pm

      I love tweed too!

  25. December 1, 2017 / 6:27 pm

Such a shame to hear about your experience. Hopefully they won’t treat another blogger in this way.
However I love your skirt, saw this in my local store, but it would be too short for my large legs. It does have a cute jacket to match which I’ve got on my Christmas list. It looks lovely with your pink jumper, but there’s also plenty of other choices for it. x Jacqui

    • December 1, 2017 / 8:16 pm

I do love tweed jackets as well! I think that any bright colour will look good on this skirt!

  26. December 1, 2017 / 9:33 pm

    • December 1, 2017 / 10:15 pm

Ja, ik ben ook gek op tweed! Heb je t moeten betalen?

  27. December 1, 2017 / 11:02 pm

Beautiful skirt! I love all the pretty colors in it!

    • December 1, 2017 / 11:22 pm

      Thank you!

  28. December 1, 2017 / 11:02 pm

Ha, this is why I just buy my own clothes! Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience, but I’m glad you ended up with such a fantastic skirt on your own!

  29. December 2, 2017 / 1:59 am

That would have made me so mad, too! How unprofessional… I wouldn’t waist another minute with them! Too bad you can’t tell us who they were! Lol! I love this skirt and that fun fringe detail. It looks great with the pop of pink from your top!

    • December 2, 2017 / 9:11 am

I did tell Carrie! It s in the link! Thank you dear.

  30. December 2, 2017 / 3:36 am

Sounds like they were a waste of time. I do very few collaborations but so far, I’ve had pretty good experiences. I love your tweed skirt-that rocks!

    • December 2, 2017 / 9:12 am

This exactly happened with me too. i too wrote negative post about them. We did hard work, put good words about them and later they wont replied to your mails. But such bad experiences can’t stop us..right?
    All the best for future.

Such a fabulous skirt. Reminds me of something Chanel would do. Love the pink sweater with it too. Thank you for hosting!!

Thank you very much dear Patti!

  35. December 4, 2017 / 4:27 pm

I just love you Nancy! I feel like we’d get on so well in real life! First of all, the mini looks fab! I adore all things tweed + feminine. I keep seeing ladies out here in Montana wearing black tights/leggings, with short quilted mini skirts. It is such a cute look while still being quite warm when paired with all the winter garb on top. I need to give it a go myself. Secondly, thank you for sharing your experience with the brand. It really helps those of us who are just dipping a toe into the water of blogging, not to take sh*z from brands- which really hurts the whole industry. Thanks so much for sharing this experience!
    Melissa . xx

    • December 4, 2017 / 5:05 pm

Oh what a very nice comment! Thank you so much dear!

  36. December 4, 2017 / 9:03 pm

I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience with that company. It really is a shame when brands take advantage of bloggers because they forget that we all talk to each other. Clearly, they aren’t worth your time and you’re better off not working with them. Now on to your fab tweed skirt, which looks great on you. I love the way you’ve styled it and it’s so perfect for the season.

    xo, Jackie

    • December 4, 2017 / 10:25 pm

Thank you very much Jackie. You are so right, they aren’t worth my time!

That’s a great skirt – really love it on you! And that top – lovely colour!

      Thank you very much Penny!

  38. December 5, 2017 / 9:28 pm

Hi Nancy. I have actually tried on the same skirt. I really liked it: the colours, the funny details, the material……and then I realised that I would have a hard time cycling in it to school, so…….I didn’t buy it. Seeing how great you look in it I kind of regret my decision. Kind of, since I bought something else in stead! Have a great week and enjoy it to the max after having gotten rid of the frustration! Love, Lieske

    • December 5, 2017 / 10:33 pm

Thank you dear! I let the frustration fall of my back when I wrote that post!
