Welcome to August’s edition of The Bad Buy Book! This month’s theme is: Sandals!

The Bad Buy Book is a series hosted by Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge and Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style. We wanted to establish together something fun and new. We both talked about our,,Sitting Shoes,, and so we came up with the idea for The Bad Buy Book!

We all do our best to look great in our outfits, choose the right accessories, the right makeup, the perfect shoes, and wait for the best light to shoot the most flattering outfit photos. And now we are asking you to show us the items you don’t feel your very best in. You know, those ,,Sitting Shoes,, that dress that is actually not quite your color, the skirt that is a size too small but the saleswoman said it looked amazing. We all own those items!  And while they may look fabulous, they don’t always feel fabulous! So we want you to show us your bad buys and tell us the story about them! What made you purchase the item?  And why do you dislike it now?  And why not share them with us?  We buy these things for a reason then hide them in the back of the closet.  Now it’s their turn to share the limelight.

Every month on the 15 th, we will both publish a post sharing the photos you have sent us along with a few sentences about the bad buy. Photo submissions will be due by the 1 st of each month so we have time to edit and compile all of the entries. At the end of each post we will let you know the theme for the next month’s post. Photos and the story of your ”Bad Buy” can be emailed to or Please put”Bad Buy” in the subject line.

Let’s take a look at our Bad Buy Sandals!

First my lovely co-host Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge.

I bought these Steve Madden platform slides recently at DSW and I love the look of them.  They weren’t really even that comfortable in the store, but they were on super deep discount so I snagged them up.  I wore them to walk through the mall one time and I was presented with the harsh reality that these are definitely “sitting sandals”!  They tore the life out of the top of my foot!

And Shelbee is (just like me) very good in Buying Bad sandals!  Another pair!

These block heel slides by Christian Siriano for Payless filled a need in my closet for a plain black open toe slide for summer.  They are not terrible, but they definitely start slicing open the top of my toes after too much walking!

The Bad Buy Book: sandals

Here is our very loyal contributor Jodie with her mum Charlotte of Jodie’s Touch of StyleThe Bad Buy Book: SandalsHey guys…

Do I have a pair of sandals for you!!

These even went through 2 of us, before they were given away!!

You can see in the first photo, that my mom is wearing these white sandals. She bought them at Target and tried to wear them for a while. But the straps just weren’t comfortable on her feet! So she passed them down to me since we have basically the same size shoe!! Well I tried to wear them too! You can see them in the next photo of me!! They weren’t even that high, but for some reason they just hurt when I tried to wear them all day!The Bad Buy Book: Sandals

Therefore they got the boot–ha ha!!

Here is Anne from Spy Girl

The Bad Buy Book: sandals

She calls these the torture clogs! Haha.

And finally myselfThe Bad Buy Book: Sandals

These are all sandals that I bought as: for lack of better. The toe sandals are really to painfull, and the others are just so boring! I absolutely have to try harder not to buy for lack of better!

So that’s all for this month!

Next month’s theme will be: Skirts!

This is where I link up!

Would love it if you shared!

Nancy, I love this month’s theme! And Jodie, you are so not alone. And I continue to do it knowing full well that I should not! I am trying to publish mine now, but the computer is not cooperating! Grrr…There, I think I’ve got it! Thanks to everyone who joined us! And thank you, Nancy, for pulling it all together especially while I was slacking for sure this month!

Great post, it makes me a little bit smile. Everyone of us own probably such shoes. Hurt or boring…..:)

    • August 15, 2017 / 8:34 am

Yes Tina, more often then not…..

This post is so fun and I feel incredibly better to know I’m not the only one that makes “bad buys”. I get decision overload when I have too many choices, especially when there are a ton of good deals. This causes me to walk out the door with a handful of things I didn’t need and no more time to look for the items I did. lol. Fun, fun read!

    • August 15, 2017 / 2:33 pm

Yeah! And we keep on doing that!!!

  4. August 15, 2017 / 2:58 pm

Ah, I made the deadline! Thanks for the inclusion.
Since I was operating off my phone, away from home, I had to be brief. Here’s more of the story. The Torture Clogs were bought the day before a big blogger conference. I REALLY wanted silver, unavailable, settled for these. They’re too small and they were expensive. I’m not done with them yet, I’m going to alter them!

Nancy, you’re photo is hysterical! I hate those thong style sandals too.

    • August 15, 2017 / 3:29 pm

Ha ha, awful isn’t it! But that’s when we buy the most bad buys. In a hurry and knowing exactly what we want, and then it isn’t available!

  5. August 15, 2017 / 5:22 pm

I know exactly what you mean! I’ve bought a whole heap of stuff that looks totally ridiculous and uncomfortable. I’m laughing out loud at those torture clogs!

Ha ha, yes I did too!

  6. August 15, 2017 / 5:38 pm

Haha, I have so many bad buy sandals- I call ’em my “sitting down shoes” because I only wear ’em when I’m going out + will have the opportunity to sit down most of the night!

Ha ha, yes we know about that! That’s why we started these series. Because of our sitting shoes!

  7. August 15, 2017 / 7:36 pm

De schoenen of sandalen van de dames vind ik inderdaad niet zo. Die van jou wel daarentegen!!

    • August 15, 2017 / 9:06 pm

Nee echt niet. Het zijn rot sandalen!

  8. August 16, 2017 / 7:52 pm

  9. August 16, 2017 / 10:14 pm

I was looking for sandals… but could not find the picture! I had a peeptoe sandal pair and they were horrible.

    • August 16, 2017 / 10:18 pm

      Awful isn’t it! I don’t suppose you’ve got a bad buy skirt…..

    • August 17, 2017 / 7:27 pm

Thank you Nicole! I’m glad you liked it!

    • August 18, 2017 / 9:08 am

  10. August 23, 2017 / 12:26 pm

The photo of you, head in hands, did make me laugh Nancy! That’s often how I feel when I see all the clothes and shoes I have and can’t find the one thing I want! I struggle with peep toe shoes because they always seem to cut in, and now I have a painful bunion too! Sometimes I hate my feet!
