my outfit in pleated skirt with knitted sweater

I want to wear my pleated skirt every day!

Well, not really though. And I know you have seen this skirt before here and here. And I love it styled like today the best! With the pink details, gray and pink compliment each other so well. I was just browsing the internet to see whether the pleated skirt trend continues into Spring. I actually regret that I have not bought a metallic pleated skirt this season, and now it feels like to late. But if they are still trendy next season, I will buy another one. In a spring color or a beautiful print. Vogue and Elle don’t mention the pleated skirt at all and so don’t the leading designers but…….drum roll……check this one! New collection! I can totally see myself wearing this one with a red top! Super cool!

Back to today’s pleated skirt.

I love this sweater. I find the color beautiful, you have to watch out that you don’t wear a tint of gray that makes your skin looks the same color! This is a warmer shade of gray. This sweater is a bit crotched and a bit knitted, love the casual look of it. I never wear two shades of gray, but I think it works in this outfit pretty nice, also because I added a bit of pink in it. A very bright color could also work perfectly. Now that I have discovered that wearing socks in open shoes looks nice(in my eyes), I wear it very often. The pink strap has a cute bow detail and the kitschy charm bracelet looks lovely with this outfit. The suède bag with fringe and studs is old but remains trendy!

I wear the scarf and the glooves just for the pictures because they are pink and gray. The scarf I knitted last year, I wanted to find out whether I liked to do that. I never wear it, it isn’t that nice. But to knit was quite relaxing, of course I only know one stitch, the most simple one! But for someone who can relax bad, it is quite fun to do. Talking jewelry on a Fancy Friday.

This post is made in collaboration with Invaluable. I did not get paid and there was nothing gifted to me(sadly). But I love auctions and vintage jewelry.

Today I wanted to talk about how jewelry styles change with the seasons. Winter jewelry styles different a lot from jewelry you will wear in the summer. For the most part, winter jewelry is seen as more bold and a counterpoint to summer jewelry which is more relaxed. Winter jewelry is usually focused on making a statement, since most of the winter colors are darker. Summer jewelry, on the other hand, can be more form fitting and suggestively accentuating the outfit rather than standing

I got the ideas for this piece from this article by Invaluable called Jewelry Styles for Winter. They have some ideas I agree with but I definitely have some of my own. Invaluable sells vintage jewelry pieces so definitely check them out even just to browse. They have some cool stuff. Take a look at the brooches! I am a big fan of brooches lately and they offer some great ones ( lovely ones with dogs and cats) starting fron $1!jewelry

One thing I agree with Invaluable about is that using cocktail rings to bring color and flair to a dreary winter outfit can be a great option. If you’re wearing grey and black for the most part, that beautiful gemstone will really stand out and attract attention. It’s not an everyday piece though, save it for special

I personally like the look of matching diamonds to an all white outfit. It’s a very sleek and elegant look, and the diamonds simply blend better into a white outfit than black. The black fur with diamonds look is so 1950s. Another tip I have is matching jewelry to accent pieces in the outfit. So if you’re wearing a gold scarf, it might be the time to wear that gold ring. The two will stand out well with grey, black, or navy tones in the rest of the outfit. But you all know that I don’t wear much jewelry. But to save up for a unique ring and buying it on an auction is a great idea. Gerben likes watches. Expensive watches that is…. And he has a Omega  for years now. So also when you want to surprise your other half check this out!jewelry

Guest blogging for Nina!

Today I am guest blogging for Nina. Nina’s blog is called a World of Dresses. And as the title suggests, she always wears dresses! How awesome is that! She has even raised money for a charity with her dresses. Doing well Nina! I think Nina is a powerful woman, she recently moved to Spain to work there and learn the language better. I think she has her social life on the roll in no time. It’s fun to follow her adventures there. She’s also planning on visiting Amsterdam so we could perhaps meet with each other. How crazy is that! I would love to meet you Nina!

Guest bloggers wanted!

I stated it a few times in my blog that I’m looking for guest bloggers. I want to include a series of women, don’t have to be only bloggers, who want to talk about their style. It’s not going to be a interview. Just a nice story of how you came to your style, how long do you have this style, were did you get this style, why do you love your style etc. And it would be nice if you  add pictures of your style that reflects your personality. If you are interested you can send me an email via the contact page. I’ll set an example and hope you find this so much fun that you want to join!

My style

My passion for fashion appparently started very early because my  grandparents told me long time ago a story: I was four years old and I could pick out some new shoes. And I just wanted black patent leather shoes! Nothing else. There you have it! When I was in my puberty(14) I began to develope my style. Not that I wore pencilskirts at that age, lol, but I began to love music that nobody else in  my environment loved. It started with The Cure, then Siouxie & the Banshees and more New Wave, hardrock and Punk. And if you loved this kind of music you wore black. So while friends wore colorful dresses, I wore black. Black clothes, big earrings, big hair! No scarves, necklaces, or brooches, just gold colored big earrings.

Hasn’t my style changed over the years?

Over the years my style changed into lots of pencilskirts and dresses. Always a bit fussy with a cool item( don’t know if that is correct), what I mean is a pencilskirt with a studded belt for example. That’s what I liked and still do. I sometimes wore gray or brown but my wardrobe concisted almost exclusively of black garments and golden accesories. Since blogging more color came into my wardrobe. And I like color now, but when I wear a black outfit I feel most myself. I still wear almost no accesories, often or larger earrings, or bracelets but almost never at the same time. In terms of shoes my tast stayed almost the same. I was and am fond of ankle boots and preferably with a nice heel, but because my lung capacity is not very big, I keep my heels not to high. And what does my style say about my personality? I don’t like a mess, I want everything clean and organised, I know exactly what I do and do not want, I have a strong will, I never walk away from a challenge, I’m not easily approachable( well, I am but people think I’m not!) and I’m not the easiest person to be with! Duh.

I hope to see a mail with a story about your style!

Thank you Nina and I wish you all a fabulous week!
