Now let’s find out who is telling a Style Story this month!
How do I create my style?
Gosh, I have never actually given this a lot of thought. I just wear what I feel like wearing and, of course, what serves the occasion. Being a teacher I can wear jeans a lot which is nice not having to adhere to a strict dress code.
Looking back at some fashion post when I started blogging about five years ago I hardly recognize myself. I have always enjoyed having fun with fashion, experimenting and making style choices following my blog motto “dare to be daring” – but I used to be more on the “daring” side I suppose mixing red tights with an purple python dress. This side of me is still alive and kicking but reading and following all those fabulous and beautiful fashion bloggers over 40 like yours has certainly improved my style for the better. It has gotten more “refined and polished”. Lately I have started to put together monochrome looks, mainly in blue or just focused on keeping the colors basic – think red, white and black/blue. It is a me coming into my own as a mature woman over 50. And the fact that I adore Dutch designs and fashion which never ceases to inspire me.
I just remember always having been fascinated by icons like Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn when I was younger. So I guess, they have had a huge impact on what I like wearing. As a pretty laid-back person I like to keep my style casual adding a little special “Je ne sais quoi” as the French like to say, here and there.
Being a huge streetstyle fan I enjoyed letting myself be inspired every time I get to visit your beautiful country to find out what Dutch women are wearing.
When I was working in Amsterdam and I loved strolling through the little shops for some styling idea. That is also why Dutch fashion blogs are some of my favorites. You guys just have such an amazing sense of style and design.
That is such a huge compliment Sabina! I think all Dutch Fashion bloggers love you now! Lol. Thank you very much for your story. I always like your style a lot and you have got fantastic photos.
