Does that always remind you of the 70s, a skirt with metallic thread? Or even clothing with metallic threads. And just like in the 70s, this skirt is made of polyester. Oh good one then Nancy, I hear you think. That skirt will still be roaming the planet in a hundred years! But… this skirt is made from recycled polyester. And that is made from, among other things, plastic bottles. And this skirt can also be recycled! So win win!
Skirt with metallic thread
Well, I would like to do my bit for a better planet, so I had to buy the skirt…….. I can make any excuse, did you notice. No, I’m just kidding, but I think it’s important to keep this in mind when I buy new clothes. And luckily there are more and more companies that are trying to deal with the environment in better ways.
What a lovely skirt this is! I always love metallic threads in clothing, just like with this dress. But what lovely colors together! A skirt that you can wear for any occasion. Not that I need an occasion to wear anything. I wear what I feel like.
How to style a skirt with metallic thread
Well, that wasn’t even an easy one. I wanted to wear at least a black top on it. But a normal black te was too boring for me. A color too busy, so I came up with this one. But other than that I have no idea what else to wear. Oh, I now remember I have another blue sweater with a metallic thread. But that’s a little too much I think. In terms of shoes, I was spoiled for choice. My golden ankle boots of course, black slippers, black sandals. But I was in a casual mood so it became these sneakers!
Any suggestions on what to wear on this metallic thread skirt?

Recycled polyester? Magic! sadly it will be a long time before that can be done in volume, but we live in hope. Meanwhile, such a pretty skirt.

What a beautiful skirt! I love the tee with it and I like the metallic theme to your outfit! With those pretty colours it will go with everything 🙂 It’s nice to see so many clothes made from recycled materials now – I’ve been buying tees made with recycled cotton and mum picked me up a recycled polyester top the other week! 🙂
Thanks for the link up!
Hope your week is going well 🙂

Yes isn’t that great! It is going slow but companies are more aware these days! Thanks Mica!
I do love a skirt and that one is my kind of skirt – so nice. It looks really good on you. Being the summer I’d wear it with a white t-shirt. But black is good too. Have a lovely weekend x

What a fun skirt, Nancy! I love the rainbow colors and metallic threads always add a little extra fun to any piece! How cool that it is made from recycled plastic, too. I have a few straw hats that are made from recycled paper which is pretty neat as well. I am picturing the skirt with a coordinating bold bright sweater with some cute boots for fall or winter. But I do like the way you have styled it for summer with your graphic tee and sneakers! Happy weekend!

I love the 70s feel of that skirt, Nancy!! It might also look cute with a white tee or shirt or a denim shirt. Denim shirts look good with anything! You DO have lots of shoe choices to wear with it, too! Have a great weekend.

What a darling skirt and that it’s eco-friendly is certainly a bonus. As for other ways to style it, I’d probably try a white button-down tied at the waist with a denim jacket. When the weather is cooler, a chunky sweater with a belt would be cute too. I hope you’ve got fabulous things planned for the weekend.

You know I’m all about a colorful skirt Nancy. The metallic thread?? Sure, reminds me a bit of the olden days, but then again, that’s a good thing.

What a fabulous find, Nancy! It’s gorgeous, and I love that it’s made from recycled bottles. Is it hot to wear though? I always worry about things being too hot (I blame the hormones lol). I think I might try it with a white shirt and sneakers? That could be fun!
Have a fabulous week.

Yes that’s a idea! No it isn’t hot at all. Very easy to wear!
That is a fun skirt, Nancy! I hadn’t heard of recycled polyester. That is fabulous! Me? I love the easy care of polyester, but am aware of its evils, so I try to avoid it. But recycled….?

Sadly, although your skirt is made from recycled bottles, that doesn’t mean it’s recyclable, Nancy. No plastics are fully recyclable – once plastic is made, it can’t be unmade. The best thing you can do is to buy second-hand, or look for items from companies that have invested in more environmentally-friendly manufacturing.
However, I LOVE this skirt, and have a couple of vintage 70s dresses in similar knits. I would wear a crisp white shirt with it, maybe with a vest over it? Go full rock & roll, Nancy!
Author
I will try it with white as a lot of readers suggested that. The polyester is regenerated and it says that it can be recycled again. Of course second hand is better, I totally agree!
So fun to see relics of the 70’s!

Thanks!

Oh Nancy, I seem to have missed some of your posts. I was thinking, that’s strange, I haven’t seen Nancy’s Throwback Tuesday post this week, but apparently I didn’t see this post either. Neither of them came up in my blogger reading list like they usually do … Anyway, that skirt is gorgeous and very 1970s indeed. And made from recycled plastic bottles, how amazing is that? xxx
