Yes Jimmy Hendrix sang about it on Woodstock but I mean a total different purple haze! I’ve said before that I hardly ever buy anything in the first two months of the year. When I was still working I always hated the transition collections. Always so boring. And I’ve often had that I bought something new too quickly for the spring, and then it took a long time before I could wear it, due to the weather. And if I could finally wear it, I often didn’t like it anymore.
In love with purple haze, the shades that is….
But by the end of March it starts to itch me and I feel like buying new clothes. I love the spring collections the best! But I really can’t find anything! But really! What’s the matter with Zara, only the teens count there? And why is everything so basic at other stores. Not that I always wear those creative outfits, but I just don’t feel it. Since my hunger for shopping will have to be satisfied, I bought a lot of second-hand items. Great to browse those sites!
The best thing is that you can just search for what you have in mind and what you cannot find in the regular stores. And then I still have to search for a long time, but in the end I usually find what I have in mind! That never happens to me when I shop the regular shops online. For example, I was looking for a purple top to wear on this lilac skirt, which is pre loved too. And could not find a nice one at all. I didn’t know what kind of top I was looking for, but I did know the color it had to be.
Styling a pleated skirt with a ruffled blouse as a purple haze
And so I found this Gerard Darel blouse at Vinted. That is the site I browse a lot for my pre loved items. I like the kind a frumpy ruffles of the blouse. And of course a pleated skirt can be frumpy too. Can you imagine I wear this skirt and blouse with black pumps. Gosh no. So for a cooler and more modern look I opted for sneakers. With a very small lilac belt, a lilac ring and purple/pink statement earrings. Don’t you just love my purple haze!

Nancy, this outfit is so fabulous! Made even more so by the fact that they are preloved pieces! I love purple and the monochromatic look is so pretty on you. I have been searching for ruffly blouses like this for such a long time and I can never find any in the thrift shops. But I keep looking! Eventually I will find exactly what I want. Such a fun outfit to kick off the weekend, my friend!

As you already know, I adore lilac and don’t have a skirt in that colour, although I am always looking! Have a good weekend x
Author
I am sure you will find one as you always find such great skirts!
You look great in lilac and purple, its a colour I don’t wear really. Nice to see more summery styles here Nancy. Jacqui x

No we need the sun! Haha, it still bloody cold. I also never wear purple but I love lilac!
I am huge fan! Love that skirt and score on second hand shopping. I am with you on the trends this year. I feel like instead of beating the COVID life blues, we just leaned right into them with fashion. I do like basics but there is soooooo much neutral out there that I don’t need to buy a full closet full of it. Hahaha. I actually found this year that I had a lot of items that I still love so normally I purge a ton but this year I only parted with a couple items here and there.
Have a fantastic weekend!

Nancy you have the best skirts- this one is divine and in my favourite colour!!! Btw…come on by when you get a chance- I featured you! xx

Yes thanks Lucy! I was late because I don’t get any notifications of your blog!
Love it! Pumps would be SO wrong here! (At least for YOUR personality!) Pumps would look very polished princess, a fabulous look if that’s what you are going for… Glad you found your purple blouse!

Indeed, it would look great on Victoria Beckham, not on me!
That’s a lovely colour on you Nancy. I know what you mean about seasonal dressing. I have summer items waiting to be worn but I’m still in winter wear! I will get bored too xx

Yes she does! Thanks Heather!
I love the juxtaposition of the ruffled blouse and pleated skirt with the white sneakers. Such a fun look. The two purples are gorgeous together.

Thank you very much!
Great look, Nancy. You were so smart to choose white sneakers for your footwear. And talk about the odd time shift between weather and what season the stores are selling for, magazines are already talking about F/W styles and trends. Why can’t we just enjoy today?

Thank you very much, have a great weekend!
I’m in love with your purple haze outfit, Nancy. Both the pleated skirt and the blouse make my heart sing. Such brilliant finds! And you know what, I bought a pre-loved Gerard Darel blouse yesterday! A completely different colour and style, but still … I haven’t been in a regular shop – nor even visited one online – for a long time, so I really have no idea of what’s on offer. I usually love the Spring collections, but the Autumn ones too. xxx

Haha, that is fantastic! You don’t miss a thing Ann!
This is such a pretty shade of purple!! And, that pleated skirt is GORG!! Pleats and ruffles, you can’t top that!

You look gorgeous in this amethyst shade of purple, Nancy! It’s one of my favourite colours (as you might have guessed from my hair!). So glad you are getting your shopping urges fulfilled second-hand – way to go!
Thank you so much for the link-party! Have a great weekend!

Thank you very much dear Sheila! Enjoy your weekend!
I have this theory that once we start getting creative with our outfits and color, the stores just don’t always cut it for us. They seem to carry more basics (especially in the brick and mortar stores). That’s truly why I love thrifting so much.

Indeed! We have things in our head that we want on a item and it’s just not there. It is actually a good thing, that way it shows that we are not basic!!
I do love your purple haze! In fact purple is one of my most favorite colors. And it looks fabulous on you! I know what you mean about being able to find things you love easier on pre-loved sites. That is my experience too.

I love the combination of lilac and purple! The white trainers give the pleated skirt and blouse a modern look. I look on Vinted sometimes but find more on eBay. I think Vinted are in the middle of migrating to a new site so they don’t have as many listings as usual. I often look on Depop too and have found some great bargains there.

I love all shades of purples and lilacs and the obviously love you, Nancy. You look absolutely fabulous. I’m sorry you couldn’t find anything you liked in the regular stores. I found lots of it to be quite bland too but luckily I did manage to find a few gems when I went out.
