So we want to see you all wearing pearls! And I don’t even own them. Even worse, I don’t even like pearls! Never did. I wasn’t willing to buy some for this theme either. So had to dig deep in the archives to come up with some pearls, because I did have some at one point!
Btw, Angie wrote a post about how to wear pearls!
Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge and myself started this series after we had hosted The Bad Buy Book for a year. Now we are ready for a new challenge! Every 15th of the month we show our Good Buy or Good-Bye item. And we want you to join!
What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book about?
It is a collage of outfits! You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye ( which is an item you are going to say good bye to). We will keep buying a Bad Buy from now and then, you know, it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted(needed) to buy something etc.
But of course we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday, and every time you wear it you get that holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to send in. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide a theme for each month!
So let’s start with The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Pearls!
First my dear blogging friend and co-host Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge
I found this pearl embellished denim jacket for under $20 and it was too pretty to resist. Sometimes the pearls can jab you if you lean against them too hard, but other than that, it’s a super fun jacket that has proven itself quite versatile so definitely a Good Buy!
Laura of I DO deCLAIRE

I went rogue and included a top that has pearls as decoration on the straps. It’s definitely a good buy since I got it through my Fashom box and I finally found an amazing strapless bra.
Sabina of Oceanblue Style at Manderley
Pearls make me think of my favorite style icones Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O. That being said I never really liked them. Or I felt they did not suit me. Still, there was never any doubt about me wearing pearls when I got married. So afterwards those pearls were basically twiddling their thumbs not being of any use with any outfit. Taking pity on them I decided I needed to come up with a way to wear them that would work for me which is modern and edgy.
Sally of Within a World of my own
I absolutely love wearing pearls, which I think is in the southern US DNA. Bought this double strand pearl necklace for myself as a birthday present in 2013 ($69 at Macy’s on sale) and it is definitely a good buy! I have worn it 58 times for a current cost per wear of $1.19. One of the strands has come loose, however, so I have a bit of pearl necklace surgery in my future so I can wear it again.
Joanne of Slices of Life
I got this pair of pearls from my grandmother when she passed away and I just love the pretty pops of blue and gold that the accent beads provide. Don’t wear them often since they are rather heavy but whenever I do wear them I always pair them with something blue and rather plain so they become a focal point. Can’t ever imagine saying good-bye to these.
Marsha of Marsha in the Middle
Here are my good buys! My kids bought me the long necklace for Mother’s Day one year. The others are all costume and bought over the years.
And here are my pearls
Two cute little cats with two very small pearls. But hey, they are pearls right. This is as much pearl as I like. Was it a Good Buy, yes I love these brooches. Don’t wear them very often, but they are cute. However what I am showing on Shelbee’s blog has more pearls. And as I was typing this I remembered this sweater, that I still have and wear pretty often. With pearls at the cuffs!
July’s theme will be: Gold!
And now hop over to Shelbee’s blog to see what the other fashion bloggers are wearing!
Send your photo with a few sentences if it is a Good Buy or a Good-Bye and we will put you in the spotlights! Send it please before the 10th of each month to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to batennancy@gmail.com

I own faux pearls and will never get rid of them as I think every now and then they are perfect with a certain outfit, but I also feel pearls age me, so they are not something I wear a lot of. Thanks for the party. I love your fun pearl/kitty pins. What a clever idea. Now, I would wear those in a heartbeat!
Author
Thank you very much Amy! I think you are right about pearls age .
They are the cutest little pearls, Nancy! I like pearls, have quite a few (inherited) but don’t wear them too often!

Thank you Alison, my pleasure.
Love your outfit with the cute kitty and pearl brooches! Also, great inspiration from all the ladies on how to wear pearls with style. I don’t wear them often, but they are classic, and I think, always a good buy. I have several strands that have been passed down from family members that have sentimental value, and I would not part with. Thanks for the link up and have a good weekend!
Author
Thank you Di.THey hold beautiful memories to the people you got them from right?
All of these outfits featuring pearls are fabulous. I also love your brooches, they are so cute! I have a pearl necklace that my mom gave me when I turned 16. I don’t wear them often, but I cherish them. Have a wonderful weekend! XO
Author
That is a beautiful memory to the necklace. THanks Caroline.
It’s interesting as I do have some pearls from my mother and used to wear them on a cruise but I never wear them now as I prefer something much bolder around my neck. Love the pix though of everyone’s take on pearls. Have a lovely weekend, Nancy 🙂
Author
Oh yes, perfect for a cruise! Thank you very much Penny!
I have several sets of pearls but do not reach for them very often. I used to but I feel like my style is a little more boho now so it doesn’t always fit in, but maybe I should wear them as an eclectic contrast.

I see them as a preppy accessories and I am not such a fan of preppy. But boho? Perhaps that can work.
Those brooches are adorable and they definitely count. I was wondering if they were earrings, but then you said they were brooches.

They are fun right? thanks for joining love.
Hi, Nancy – What a pleasant surprise to see that you mentioned my blog post on pearls and linked to it! That is so sweet of you and I appreciate it very much. I really enjoyed reading your post on pearls. I don’t think of myself as a pearls girl but I like the idea of mixing them up with chains and opposite styles rather than in the usual preppy way. Besides, they’re trending yet again and will be in the future always with new ideas on how to wear them. Thanks for the visit and the mention – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
Author
Totally my pleasure Angie. I would wear them indeed on a bith of a punk outfit, definitely not on te preppy way.
Your cats with pearls brooches are adorable! Like you, I am not fond of pearls, but I would make an exception for these two cat brooches. Everyone did a really nice of showing off their pearls.

Sorry I missed this Nancy and Shelbee! Some fab looks, I do love my pearls and nearly always wear my pearl earrings! X Jacqui

Now you would have been perfect to join then! Perhaps with gold Jacqui!
Thanks so much for the link-party, Nancy!
I like pearls, but they come across as very chi-chi or dated, often. I have a necklace of giant “gumball” pearls and matching earrings, for when I want to feel like a princess!
Your yellow boots are fab.
Author
I think they often make dated too, I like them however with a punky style.
Love seeing all these different ways of wearing pearls, especially the unconventional ones!
