Over 50 fashion: vinyl biker jacket

Over 50 fashion? Well, sometimes I love something so much and then life (or whatever) reminds me that I am over 50! On one hand I couldn’t care less, on the other I don’t want to look like a fool. I asked you a few weeks ago what your opinion was about these leggings. There were a few who said no, but the majority liked it. That pulled me over the line. And they are fabulous. And you already saw my lacquer boots. And then I saw this amazing vinyl trenchcoat, The black one that I ordered is sold out now, but it was one size to large. But I thought, well coats are often to tight so let’s go for it. It was to big. But it was such a stunning one. I was really disappointed.

From little girl to over 50 fashion

Let me explain what I have with lacquer. It all started when I was a little girl. About 4 years old. I was allowed to choose new shoes from my grandparents. And I new exactly what I wanted. Black pattern shoes! They went with me to a shoe shop in another town, because they had a kind of X-ray machine so that they could see if the shoe fitted well. My grandparents knew me very well. because if I had found the perfect pair, I would have said that they were okay even if they were too small. Nothing much has changed…..

And then, at the age of 10,11, I had a Barbie doll with cropped jeans and a black lacquer trenchcoat! How amazing that was. I was totally in love with that outfit and so many times I wished I had that coat in my size! So you can imagine my disappointment when I finaly saw that perfect one and it was to big. But then I got an email from Wearall for a collaboration. And what did I find: Yes, a lacquer jacket! And do you know what is so funny? When I received the package, I remembered that when I was in my late 20s, I already had such a jacket. So I can say that patent leather runs like a thread through my life!over 50 fashionover 50 fashionover 50 fashionover 50 fashionover 50 fashionover 50 fashionover 50 fashionover 50 fashionover 50 fashion

I don’t think you could ever be a fool. I think the people who stick to the safe and plain clothes are the fools….what fun is that to never try anything new and different???
I had to give away my tulle skirt because it got torn up from my heels (which means I wore it plenty—so it’s all good). But now I need a new one….yippee for shopping!!!

    • March 9, 2018 / 7:28 am

Ha ha, I don’t think I have ever seen you in a tulle skirt! Happy shopping Jodie!

I love this look on you, and it’s something I could totally recreate with items in my closet. I just bought a new faux leather jacket with a high shine to it like yours. Like you, I enjoy channeling childhood nostalgia into my adult wardrobe and outfits. It makes the outfits feel more special!

    • March 9, 2018 / 8:08 pm

Yes, I could definitely see you in a similar outfit! I can sum up several outfits from when I was a child, that I would love to wear now!
