Wearing a leopard midi skirt in winter(oeps it is spring!)

We all love leopard print don’t we? And I love midi skirts, so when I saw this one a few months ago, I knew I had to have it. I havn’t worn it that much because the fabric is very thin and it is still very cold over here. Everytime I wear a thin skirt, I have such a cold bum! But I wore it on the day that Nina visited me. I can’t wait to wear the skirt more when it is getting a bit warmer.

Why is a leopard print so appealing?

When I was, let’s say, 16 or 17, I already loved a leopard print. But it was seen as vulgar. You belonged to a certain kind of people when you wore a leopard print. I am talking early 80s now! I am curious if that was the same in your country. Let me know. These days we see the leopard print every season and it has won his own place in the fashion scene. In clothing, bags, shoes, you name it! Check my Pinterest board about leopard prints! And although I styled it with a black cable knit sweater, leopard print is very good to wear with all colors as I showed here.leopard print skirtleopard print skirtleopard print skirtleopard print skirtleopard print skirtleopard print skirtleopard print skirtleopard print skirt

I know exactly what you mean about that “leopard” being vulgar. In fact, it was only about 6 years ago that we had a patient talk about how she would NEVER let her daughter wear leopard print—funny, huh?
I just wore a light weight maxi tonight, and I had to layer footless tights under it to keep warm. I even had on workout shorts on top of the tights—-anything to keep warm!!!

    • March 30, 2018 / 8:39 am

It s awfull isn t it! If s getting a bit warmer here for a few days, but not warm enough to go bare legs yet! Happy Easter for all of you!

  3. March 30, 2018 / 8:50 am

Another fantastic look Nancy! I like how you’ve paired the outfit with the Zara boots.

Thanks so much for featuring me! When I was young, my mom had a leopard print scarf. I used to sneak in and wear it whenever I could. I loved it!

    • March 30, 2018 / 6:19 pm

My pleasure Pam! And do you still love leopard prints?

  5. March 30, 2018 / 12:18 pm

Wow what a wonderful skirt Nancy! Would wear it in a trice.

I love this, Nancy! And yes, there was a time back in the 80’s when leopard was a sort of risqué print to wear. I am so glad that it has taken on new meaning now! You look fabulous as always. Have a wonderful weekend!

    • March 30, 2018 / 6:23 pm

Thank you dearest Shelbee! Have a great weekend!

  9. March 30, 2018 / 2:55 pm

I am a fan of leopard! I was actually just thinking of how I can style my leopard dress differently! I seriously can’t get enough of this print. It’s such a great neutral and as you have shown in your past post that it goes so well with many different colors. Gorgeous midi skirt Nancy! I am definitely a fan. Wishing you a happy Easter weekend and a very happy Friday!

  11. March 30, 2018 / 3:39 pm

I’m loving the leopard! I wonder why it was seen as a vulgar print? That’s so silly! My mother used to wear leopard print when I was growing up and I thought nothing of it!

    • March 30, 2018 / 6:26 pm

I don’t know why, it was seen as something that a social people would wear! Stupid right?

    • March 30, 2018 / 6:30 pm

Thank you Jess! Have a good weekend!

This outfit is perfection! I know what you mean about leopard being considered tacky several years back; thankfully public opinion has changed on that one, because that skirt (and leopard in general) is just fantastic!

      Thank you very much!

  20. March 30, 2018 / 11:44 pm

I am always a fan of a leopard print, it goes with everything so is treated as a neutral in my book. I also think it works so much better on older women as it carries a certain panache which you so beautifully show here Nancy.

    • March 31, 2018 / 9:07 am

Oh yes, I agree with you on the part that it looks better on older women!

  21. March 31, 2018 / 6:12 am

Hi Nancy! Love your style and your story. Happy weekend and have a wonderful Easter.

Nancy this is one edgy and cool way to style “difficult” leo. I would totally steal that look 🙂 Got some similar boots and appreciate the lower heels. Happy Easter. xo Sabina

    • March 31, 2018 / 4:34 pm

Thank you very much Sabina! Happy Easter!

  23. March 31, 2018 / 2:54 pm

Isn’t it funny how society can take a certain print or style and lump it into a type of character?? Ok, there are always extremes, but I’m so glad that leopard print is no longer considered vulgar. This skirt looks fabulous on you!

    • March 31, 2018 / 4:35 pm

      Thank you very much Chrissy!

  24. March 31, 2018 / 3:35 pm

I love how leopard is no longer associated with barmaids …adore your look and managed a link up too. Getting the hang finally…

    • March 31, 2018 / 4:35 pm

      Yeah!! Haha, thank you Hilda!

  25. March 31, 2018 / 6:15 pm

    • March 31, 2018 / 11:13 pm

      Thank you very much!

  26. March 31, 2018 / 9:20 pm

Yeah, the perception of leopard print has really changed over the years. When I was younger, it seemed a little “hoochy mama,” then there was Peg Bundy of Married with Children and it was like “older woman who are trying too hard to look young.” I’m glad it’s finally more main-stream because it’s so cute and goes with so many things – as you’ve shown us!

In the end, how did your week go? I made it through mine better than anticipated…yay…and now have a 3-day weekend and a short work week ahead.

    • March 31, 2018 / 11:17 pm

Well, I had a funeral of someone that I hadn’t seen for five years. I missed him more then I knew. But it was good to see all the people I hadn’t seen in a long time. Enjoy your Easter Bettye!

  27. March 31, 2018 / 10:38 pm

Fabulous skirt! I’m a huge fan of leopard print, but I know what you mean about it being considered vulgar once upon a time. Bet Lynch in Coronation Street was famous for her love of leopard print…I’m showing my age now! Hope you have a lovely Easter!
