Hottest Shoe Trends According to Fashion Month Runways
Another fashion month is in full swing, and along with a plethora of clothes, outrageous makeup and awe-worthy hair looks, we have also been blessed with a sneak preview of the hottest footwear that we’ll be rocking in the season upon us. The power of great footwear cannot even be described with words. The right pair of shoes has the ability to turn an otherwise ‘blah’ outfit into something supremely chic and elevate an already amazing look to new heights. There is always room for another pair of shoes (or several) in our closets, so dive in, find your next obsession and add another member to your collection.
Tommy Hilfiger’s show in Milan has just wrapped up, and while we were blinded by not only his signature colors but also the intensity of the Fast and Furious vibes the models exuded, we were able to lower the gaze and see what’s going on beneath the ankles. It seems that Hilfiger is all about comfort and practicality this season, which is why the vast majority of the models were strutting in comfortable and minimal one-zipper sneakers that will probably dominate the footwear sphere of the athleisure trend.
A bold look
Unsurprisingly, Dolce & Gabbana put on quite the show, and things took a religious turn, not only in regard to the setting of the show but also the designs themselves. The line may cause a bit of controversy, but we are definitely here for the shoes. There is something for absolutely everyone in this collection, from extravagant gemstone-encrusted open-toe sandals to pointed gothic-red lace-up shoes and even subtle, yet poignant violet rounded-toe T-strap heels. If we could, we would take them all home because each pair is more amazing than the other.
Bring on the fur
If Preen is to be believed, the furry and fuzzy shoes in all shapes and forms are here and have no intention of leaving. While some of these might be overkill for a mere mortal, others were actually quite subtle; well, as subtle as furry shoes can be. The ones you’ll probably be into are the block-heel single-strap sandals, and if you can’t wait for the line to be out, there are numerous offers of women’s shoes in Australia that fit the description, so you don’t have to wait to get your hands on this shoe extravaganza for long.
Hard at work
You may be under the impression that white boots and white shoes in general are a lot of work and that you need to be very careful about what you wear with them. You could not be more wrong. White boots, especially pointed-toe mid-calf ones, will do all the heavy lifting, take any dull outfit you throw at them and lift it right up. We sometimes forget that white, as bright as it is, is still a non-color, which means that you can wear it with anything, but unlike the standard black, it will pull focus and make itself seen. You need white boots in your life, at least once.
Mad about plaid
We might have made an assumption that the plaid craze is reserved for the first half of the year, but we’re glad we were wrong. Marques’Almeida makes a strong case for plaid boots as well as slides, so all seasons have been covered. We simply dare you not to love the yellow plaid boots, or any plaid shoes in general. They’re the perfect mixture of conservativeness and fun, and the bright choice of color is sure to make your entire day, not to mention your outfit.
The rebirth of pumps
Classic pumps will never go out of style, but as Delpozo shows us, they’ve got serious (not to mention ultra-glamorous) competition. The plethora of nude and pastel pumps that made an appearance on the runway were upgraded with what looks like bedazzled sock-like fabric going over the ankles. This may not exactly be your everyday office shoe, but it makes for a fine statement for those romantic date nights or extravagant parties when you need just a little something to glam up your look. Unusual – yes, but also incredibly appealing.
