Hoodies! The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book

Hoodies collage

Can hoodies be fashionable? That’s the big question for me, because I don’t like them at all. First I don’t like the sporty look of them. And second, It’s always annoying me with my hair. Show me they can look stunning ladies!

Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge and myself started this series after we had hosted The Bad Buy Book for a year. Now we are ready for a new challenge! Every 15th of the month we show our Good Buy or Good-Bye item. And we want you to join!

What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book about?

It is a collage of outfits! You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye ( which is an item you are going to say good bye to). We will keep buying a Bad Buy from now and then, you know, it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted(needed) to buy something etc.

But of course we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday, and every time you wear it you get that holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to send in. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide a theme for each month!

So let’s start with The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Hoodies!

First my dear blogging friend and co-host Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge

Chrochet hoodie

I bought this hooded granny square cardigan on one of my annual road trips to Asheville, North Carolina. I don’t wear it often because it is big and voluminous but I will always consider it a Good Buy because it’s amazing and it reminds me of my favorite city on earth!

Sheila of Ephemera

Orange velvet hoodies

I picked up this velour hoodie last week at my local Women In Need thrift shop for $14.95. It’s by Juicy Couture, from around 2009 (the little puffed sleeves are a dead giveaway). I adore the bright citrus orange, the gold “JC” tips on the hood strings, the crystal studded “J” on the gold zipper – it’s all so over-the-top! The hood is even lined in velour – you never see that these days.  It’s a Good Buy!

Joanne of Slices of Life

hoodies for fashionistas

I had almost forgotten about this cute sweater that I got a year or so ago from Stitch Fix. I loved that it had a hood on it and was the perfect length for wearing with leggings. For today’s photo I paired it with a favorite pair of jeans and some chunky boots. With it’s light gray color and pale pink trim (that you can’t really see in the photos) it has been a favorite of mine and I think it definitely falls under a “good buy”.

Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style

Hoodie under a dress

I never used to understand why you’d want hoodies, but now I love them. I wore this one under my overall dress.

Laura of I DO deCLAIRE

hoodie blazer

This hoodie blazer was a good buy! It has a zip out hood making it very versatile and comfortable to wear!

And here is my hoodie

Cardigan over hoodies

This is a look that I saw months ago on Pinterest and already showed it on the blog here. This is a hoodie that I actually wear twice a week. You see, I work out 4 times a week. Twice at the gym and twice at home. And at home I wear this one, in the gym a black one.

So you see, I do wear hoodies, but only in a way that is the only way to wear them in my head, when you work out! Lol.

December’s theme will be: Embroidery!

And now hop over to Shelbee’s blog to see what the other fashion bloggers are wearing!

Send your photo with a few sentences if it is a Good Buy or a Good-Bye and we will put you in the spotlights! Send it please before the 10th of each month to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to batennancy@gmail.com

By joining The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, you agree to receive a monthly reminder email for next month!

I love hoodies and wear them often.. but I agree that the more traditional sweatshirt hoodies seem more like comfy clothes than fashion statements. But as hoods show up more and more on tops, sweaters, and are made from other dressier materials they are becoming slightly less bummy.

Inded, that’s one of the problems I have with hoodies! They are so bulky!

I love all the unique ways that everyone styled their hoodies! Yours with a skirt, Jodie’s with a cute little romper dress, and Sheila’s with metallic leggings. Y’all are so cool!
