Have you ever heard of a herringbone pattern ?
While writing down the title, I suddenly realize that a long long time ago, when I was 16, I bought a second hand coat. I told you before that thrift shopping is not for me. I gave it a chance, or two, last summer in the UK, but no it’s not for me. But back then it was apparently. That coat was a herringbone wool blend coat. A fabulous coat, I remember I felt so fashionable in that coat. When Gerben and I went shopping, when I also bought this dress, he came up with these trousers and said: these I like! Oh, a herringbone one! I liked it too!
Herringbone with blue
Herringbone patterns are often found on tweed clothing. And I always have loved tweed. Especially of course the classic Chanel tweed. But back in the eighties this pattern was very popular. And this is the season that the eighties are hot again. Think shoulder pads, pointed boots, big hair(yeah) and the herringbone pattern. What I also bought on that shopping day were these boots and this cardigan. I didn’t buy them to match the trousers, but I thought: well, I don’t have a light blue cardigan yet. And later in another store: well, I don’t have blue ankle boots. I know, it was a ,,just buy what I want,, kind a day! ( and I enjoyed it).
I think these blue shades work very well with the trousers. It would be obvious to wear black or perhaps some red with it. I think the blue gives a bit of winter crisp feel to it, you know, ice, snow, all the things I hate. Haha. But any color is good. I am wearing fishnet socks with a bow at the back. Aren’t they lovely?
