I always say I don’t like velvet and forget about this grey velvet pleated skirt I have! It sometimes even looks like silver. But this is really the only velvet item I own.
We are already a few weeks into the new year. Most people have cleared their Christmas decorations. It was gone in our house on January 2nd. I always find it so weird to leave the tree standing after the holidays. And I am always glad when all the mess is gone, I like my interior very minimalistic. My girlfriend always leaves it for quite a while, don’t you Gerdi?
Grey velvet pleated skirt with black.
I think the first two months of the year are the most terrible ones. So boring, so cold, so unsociable. Holidays are still to far away to look forward to. And if things don’t go well, March is still like that, one long boring month. I want to go outside, barbeque, read a book in the sun, etc. I will have to be patient for a while. Not my strong point. And I also hate transition collections, so the first two months are for me the shop your wardrobe months! Which is a good thing of course. I also didn’t buy anything new in November. Learning proces.
I’m wearing one of my favorite pleated skirts on my blog today. A velvet grey pleated skirt. I’ve had it for years and I enjoy wearing it. First of all, it is of course wonderfully warm, and sometimes it looks like silver. And that while I don’t like silver at all.
How I like to wear a grey skirt.
I prefer to wear it with a white or off-white sweater, or of course with black. But grey can actually be combined with any color, even brown. The sweater has lantern sleeves. I love a simple sweater with no print or application, but then with a statement sleeve. The ankle boots are so cool, and so amazingly comfortable. But I also love to wear this skirt in early spring with white sneakers.
I have statement earrings in but they are really the lightest earrings I have. Which is very nice but nowadays also a must. When I wear heavy earrings my earlobes stretch so much. Terribly ugly and I’m also afraid they’ll just tear out one day. Is that even possible?
I would really appreciate it if you would follow me on Instagram.

Thanks for the feature Nancy! Very honoured. I didn’t know you weren’t keen on velvet, but this skirt is a beauty!

My pleasure Gail! Thank you.
I think after the holidays and all of the over indulgence, shopping for new clothes isn’t really on anyone’s mind, I am all about cleaning out the closet and purging. This skirt is so luxe – velvet is a favorite of mine. It looks great with the boots! I hope you have a great weekend Nancy!

Indeed! Thanks Kellyann! Have a great weekend.
The skirt is lovely Nancy. I’d like a velvet blazer. I like the burgundy and green velvets. Have a lovely weekend xx

Oh yes a burgundy one is beautiful. Thanks Laurie.
Beautiful skirt Nancy, a real classic and grey is a very under-rated neutral, it really does go with everything. Velvet or even velour is a favorite of mine.

So warm and elegant!
I love all the different textures in your outfit today! I am the same way with statement earrings so I make sure all of mine are really light. I actually like winter here because it gets cold some days (and I get to wear all of my sweaters) but the majority of our days are sunny so not gloomy.

Your gray velvet skirt is gorgeous! And youโve styled it beautifully. I donโt have any velvet, but that may have to change. We are supposed to get snow this weekend. We have been spoiled with lots of sunny days, although the temperatures have been cold. Have a great weekend!

Oooh, Nancy, I love this silver velvet skirt! So pretty. What a fabulous outfit. Those boots are amazing, too!

I tend to like velvet on other people more than on myself, but that skirt is gorgeous and I’d totally wear it. It almost doesn’t look like velvet, it’s so fluid!

I love absolutely everything about this outfit, Nancy. The velvet pleated skirt is a stunner, and so is the black jumper with its amazing sleeves. And oh, the earrings! A perfectly coordinated outfit. I think grey is so underrated, as it can be worn with lots of colours, and doesn’t have to be boring at all.
As for the Winter months, I don’t mind them so much, but I don’t like it when it’s grey and rainy for days on end. xxx
I LOVE velvet and your skirt is so pretty.
Ooh, that is a lovely velvet skirt, Nancy – it looks very swooshy! I love grey paired with bold colours – I used to have a grey pleated early Marc Jacobs skirt that I ruined in the wash (sigh).
Thanks so much for the link-party!
This is such a gorgeous outfit! So perfect for the season!

I’m such a fan of velvet especially this time of year. Right now we are having the most glorious weather, so it hasn’t been boring at all .Which is exactly why our Christmas decorations are still up, LOL

Nancy, that skirt is gorgeous! But, let’s talk about those boots! I love them! If they have a bit of bling and straps, I’m all about that!! I need some of those earrings…I have a few pairs of statement earrings…but nothing like these!
Thanks for the link up!
I’m loving the glam silver and edgy black paired together! Gorgeous look on you!
I can’t believe this is a velvet skirt, Nancy, it looks so silky. Love the other elements too, statement earrings are stunning and love the details on the boots. Have a nice weekend:)

Thank you very much Anna!
Your skirt looks so good , love your styling here. I can understand that the start of the year is rather dull, both weatherwise and the usual after Christmas effect. Many thanks for hosting Nancy.

Thanks Jill! Shall we swap one day, you get the winter in January and I the summer!
I love everything about your outfit, Nancy! I’m a big fan of velvet though, surprised you don’t like it!
Those earrings are quite fabulous too, and I love that you said they’re light. I can’t be doing with heavy earrings either.
You should come to Portugal where the sun is shining! That will get you out of your winter funk!

I love the pleated, gray skirt with the ankle boots. And the statement earrings are the perfect accessory for the outfit. Pinned.

Thank you very much, I appreciate that!
Perfect. For a velvet skirt, it hangs beautifully. Very pretty movement. And your accessories are spot on. The earrings show up so well. Hate when I have on cute earrings but they don’t show up. Seems like a waste!! Love the splatter look on your boots. A+ outfit.
We are not sociable. We pretty much hang out with each other and family and that’s the sum total. Although, PC sees folks at work M-F. And then has his baseball team 9 months of the year on Saturdays.

Thank you very much Lesie! Yes I want my earrings to be seen otherwise I wear my usual tiny golden hoop ones.
